Clear light gold color with a nice low off-white head. Nice active carbonation leaves nice lace sheets. Nice balanced malt and light hop aroma. English style hops seem to dominate. Leans a bit to the bitter side in flavor. Medium-light bodied with a light bitter and light buttery finish.

Nice enough but not really special in any way.

Bottle poured into glass gives a moderate sized fizzy, eggshell colored head that becomes more creamy looking as it settles. Head has nice retention. Beer is golden straw in color. Leaves minimal lacing. Subdued aroma consists of mostly bread, with some floral hops, pale malts, and orange.

Caramel malts are more dominant in the taste. Other flavors from the aroma are present in the taste, but much more pronounced. The floral and citrus hops overtake the breadiness, giving a very nice flavor. Medium/light body with heavy carbonation. Very crisp taste and finish with a touch of creaminess. Overall not a knock-your-socks-off pale ale, but very drinkable and tasty, with a crisp finish.

Nice Pale Ale. Low enough abv to enjoy in mass quantities. Enough flavor to be worth it. Pours a fairly clear amber color with a medium size frothy white head. Head retention is good. Patches of lacing on the glass.

Smell is minimal. I was expecting a blast of Simcoe floral hops. Not so. Very mild aroma, a little bitterness and a little sweet malts.

Taste is pretty good. Bready malt and some floral/piney hops. Nicely balanced, good flavor.

Mouthfeel is crisp and light. Clean, nicely balanced between bitternes and maltiness. Goes down real easy.

My idea of a good session beer.

12oz bottle, part of a pricey mixed 12-pack recently made available in Alberta. Apparently this is brewed at Shipyard Brewing's facilities.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden amber hue, with one skinny finger of bubbly, loosely foamy dirty white head, which leaves not one measly speck of lace anywhere near the glass as it quickly slinks out of sight.

It smells of mildly grainy pastry-like pale malt, a bit of faint hard-water minerality, and tame leafy, citrusy hops. The taste is sweet bready malt, a hint of biscuity graininess, some weakly flinty notes, and earthy, rather softly bitter citrus hops. Uncomplicated, really.

The carbonation is pretty sedate, settling to just a dull hum, the body medium-light in weight, and smooth in weak acclamation sort of way. It finishes off-dry, the increasingly bland malt still holding it out over the equally pithy hops.

Blah - while not actually off-putting at any particular level, everything there seems a little too calculated for maximum inoffensiveness, but still holding fast to the tenets of the style. Nothing worth seeking out, but I'm sure any of us wouldn't blanch at accepting one at whatever shindig you may be stuck at. That's how they getcha.

Best Enjoyed Before July 2013

A: Pours a golden yellow color with a fingers worth of head that retains for a good couple of minutes before dying down to a cap

S: Quite malty, with a hint of spicy bready malts and earthy hops. Not too much aside from the breadiness

T: Follows the nose. Again, taken over by bready malts with a hint of spiciness. Earthy hops do almost nothing to balance the malts, and fall to the background quickly. Finishes with more breadiness

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: An overly malty pale ale, with almost no hop presence. Easy enough to drink, but nothing to really take away. Try it if you like organic beers, but don't go searching for hops

Poured into a pint glass. The color is medium golden. There is a nice thin head that has just a bit of nice lacing.

The aroma has some crouton with some graham cracker. There is a bit of crisp hop in the aroma, but not much so I can't describe it beyond that.

The taste has a strong emphasis on bready malt. Lots of toast flavor here. There is a slightly crisp finish, with a subtle hop bitterness. There is a murky yeasty aftertaste that lingers a bit long.

This is medium bodied with nice sharp carbonation. This beer isn't bad but there are many many many other beers I'd rather have before getting to this one. This seems to be aimed at the Shipyard crowd.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Best Enjoyed Before April 2013.

A: Pours a cloudy light yellow gold with a 1 finger dense white head. Lots of visible carbonation. A quick swirl invigorates a lot of head. Leaves some good lacing.

S: Not an overwhelming aroma. Has a sweet malt backing as well as some citrusy hops. Somewhat of a bready/toastiness to it.

T: Starts off with a nice bittering hop, taste good and cascade hoppy. After swallowing a sweeter malt side appears and lingers in the finish. A nice balance here.

M: Average body with ample carbonation. Has a crisp finish to it. Real easy drinking.

Overall a nice clean beer with pure ingredients. Good for those looking to expand their craft beer palette.
