A - Golden, cloudy. Looks the part

S - Smells alright, but it's got a lemony thing going on, like a lot of poor hefe imitations.

T - Followed the smell with the citrus - also, it was served with a lemon wedge. 2 Strikes. Not very flavorful either.

M - Could stand to have a little more body to it, but not bad.

O - Worst AA beer I've had. Kinda a bummer having a total dud of a beer at their brewery.

On tap at the Ale Asylum Brew Pub.

This one poured a medium and cloudy golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of bananas and spices. Tastes of wheat with some cloves and bananas. Typical and drinkable hefeweizen.

Cloudy straw color with a little head and lacing. Pretty typical hefe look.

Smells of sweet honey, light citrus and a little banana (I didn't seem to sense as much banana as the last guy). The yeast (Belgian?) and light malt round out the smell.

Solid hefe flavor. Nice and full and round with the palate centered on the yeast and wheat, backed by a citrus support and a slight hop presence. Pleasant citrus aftertaste lingers.

Slightly spicy carbonation, barely on the heavy side for a hefe. Overall very well-balanced and smooth, typical Asylum style.

Big banana, beyond banana. We’re talking serious banana folks. In fact I can actually say that there are multiple types of banana in this beer. There’s green dole bananas, and then there are those overly ripe bananas from the Quick Trip store, and then a few Jamaican sugar bananas, and s few banana flavored runts, and maybe even a Plantain or two to boot.

Ok, now that we got that banana stuff over with I can talk about the rest of the beer’s attributes.

Pour is pretty on for the style. Body is hazy, less so then many hefes but still well with in style boundaries. Color is a straw yellow, just a few notches darker then crayola with a thin white leaning beige head. Carbonation is moderate.

Aroma is obviously bananas with some grass and the ever so faintest hint of vanilla ice cream.

Flavor is pretty much just banana.

Mouthfeel starts well. It’s crisp and refreshing but becomes heavy and cumbersome as the beer warms. The banana yeast just gets to be too much for me and drags the beer down half way through. Body starts medium and becomes medium to heavy. Slightly sweet but not too bad.

Drinkability: Personally, I can’t drink more than a glass of this but most of my friends love it. Personal preferences I guess.
