A: very clear ale here, amber to orange in color. Could have a better head, but lacing is nice.

S: Sweet malts and great citrus hop notes. Very nice caramel breadyness.

T: Something about the english mallts that Ale Asylum uses lends a very sweet cola like flavor. Both this and the Contorter Porter have very destinct sweet similarities. The taste does drop off a few steps before im ready.

M: Has a good quality dry bitterness to it from the middle to the end on the palate and lingers leaving the mouthfeel quite engaged. However it does wash a bit light, I think partly due to the crispness of this ale, not heavy at all. Some people like it, I would prefer some heft myself.

O: A good refreshing amber, its a quaffing ale.

Appearance: Pours a nice amber-orange color, slight bit of haze and medium head that lingers.

Smell: Some malt with a bit of hop character (a little piney, a little danky). Nothing overwhelming but it is about what you'd expect from a hoppy amber beer. Could potentially use more aromatics from hops but probably wouldn't substantially improve the smell.

Taste: Very nice malt-forward taste I'm guessing from a decent amount of Munich malt. It is very well balanced with the hop bitterness toward the back of the tongue after a few seconds. Can't say anything particularly bad about the flavor: it's a great amber!

Mouthfeel: Smooth, although there may be a touch too much carbonation that definitely is noticeable on the palate.

Overall: I really like it. As far as ambers go, this is on the bitter side but definitely not either in a bad way or in an unbalanced way (for instance, a West coast amber). Highly recommended.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
6.8% ABV, no date.

A - This lighter copper amber color pours totally hazed and the turbulence creates a large bone-white, sudsy and long-lasting head. The creamy descending head shrouds the glass in thin but coating lace.

S - Amber malts co-mingle with hop aromas very well here; malts impart a nice and sweet caramel note with suggestions of toffee while earthy hops round out the nose. Their presence is marked by a big floral aroma with hints of pine and citrus.

T - Hops' floral strength is undercut by earthy pine needle and up-rooted clumps of grass. Malt holds it own, pushing back against the hops with sweet caramel and toffee with a freshly opened loaf of white bread.

M - Ambergeddon is medium in body and a bit creamy, finishing with a piney hop punch of moderate bitterness and a crisp carbonation bite to really round out the feel nicely.

O - Better than the average amber, Ambergeddon brings a little something extra to this "catch-all" style of beer; assertive hops meet a beefy later of maltiness but neither backs down and neither overwhelms the other for a balanced and flavorful brew!

A darker color amber flows out the bottle. Sizeable beige meets off white head develops, in around the 1" variety. Aroma of malty roasted nuts. Aroma also imparts more hops than most amber ales. Honey like sweetness along with it.

Taste, still heavy handed with the hopping, and I mean that in a good way. Lots of caramel, not really much in the way of toffee. Syrupy, yet drinks like it is light bodied at the same time. Carbonation is appropriate for what this beer has going for it. Drinks like a hybrid of a pale ale, ipa and amber ale. Grapefruit and caramel equate to a bitterness that is far from a one trick pony. This stuff is a decent option if there is no nugget nectar around (taste is different than the nugget hop, but you get the idea).

The sweetness that comes out a little as it warms gives you a little light barleywine vibe, without the excess malt or alcohol.

Alcohol remains in the background. Wow, its almost 7%! Score! Butter and dry through the finish.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. No bottling date marked.

Appearance: Pours a deep brownish amber orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big four finger off white head with good retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.

Smell: An assertive hoppy aroma with lots of balancing sweet caramel malts. A spicy smell of herbal, earthy, and grassy hops with some pine resin. Hints of citrus orange peel, tangerine, lemon, and grapefruit. Big malt presence with hints of sweet caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, and yeast. Fairly damp smelling with a good balance of hops and malts. Solid aroma.

Taste: Like the aroma hints at, a bold and well balanced taste of hops and sweet toasty malts. Earthy, grassy, and herbal hops up front with some spicy pine resin. Notes of citrus orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, and tangerine. Solid bready balance with toasted malts giving a taste of sweet caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, grains, and yeast. Strikes a really good balance between the spicy and bitter hops and the sweet malt.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, chewy, and very smooth.

Overall: A very good hopped up Red Ale. Kind of reminds me of Great Lakes Nosferatu. Bold hops with a big malty backing.

Picked up a sixer of this for the Packer/49er playoff game, wasn't a huge fan of it then or the outcome of that game, reviewing while watching the Super Bowl.

A-Significant chill haze, ruddy amber color with a thin finger of off-white head that quickly recedes to a skim.

S-Lots of hops (spicy, earthy, citrus, grass) upfront with some caramel, toasted graininess as well.

T-Hops hit you hard, like the aroma they are earthy and spicy with a lingering bitterness overwhelming the malt.

M-Medium bodied and carbonated with a lingering bitter finish.

O-Definitely a beer for the hophead, this one is too much for someone looking for a traditional amber ale. If the hops were toned down a bit this one has potential, just not balanced enough.
