As others have said, Tellers is an upscale bar in downtown Columbia. Small and not really ideal for large groups. The addition of a TVs is a negative. The beer whether on tap or bottle is always fresh. Service is pretty good. I haven't had a bad or fabulous experience with the wait staff/bartenders. Their selection is fairly limited. I would say it is average for Columbia but below average overall. Mostly the usual suspects - some Boulevard, New Belgium, Schlafly, BMC and "well-known" imports (not necessarily good ones). The food is pretty good but overpriced considering there is better food at other restaurants in town at the same price. Tellers (like some other places on Columbia's BeerFly) was added to the site at a time when the beer scene in Columbia was pretty weak and this was a good location. Thankfully, beer culture in Columbia has grown, but Tellers hasn't grown with it.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday, recently. Not too crowded, got seated right away. They have a decent selection for Columbia, MO (New Belgium 1554, Harps, Bell's Winter Seasonal, Boulevard Winter Seasonal, Smithwick's, etc). Only drawback was that they were out of two of the best they had and only after a couple minute wait for each selection did I get the regretful news. They could be better in knowing what they are out of. Other than that, the service was friendly and quick. Not too big of a place and dimly lit, great place to relax and not get bumped into and jostled by a crowd. Food was mostly sandwiches and burgers. Pricing was reasonable for the food, but the beer was a little high. The gallery part of the bar is due to the artist a month they sponsor. While I was there, it was an artist whose paintings were of abstract female profiles in green and blue. I'm not an art critic by any means, but it was interesting to see some new artwork from a local artist. Overall, a good little place to grab some good food, drink a beer and relax.

I am a personal friend of the husband of one of the co-owners so you can take my review with that in mind.

They currently have four beers on tap, though they usually have a 5th seasonal brew available. Sadly, their seasonal tap fridge is on the fritz right now and they are looking to get a new one.

On tap they have Newcastle, Schlafly Oatmeal Stout, Blue Moon and Blvd. Wheat.

The Seasonal has included Blvd. Scottish ale and couple of other local brews though, as I said they are still working on getting them back. They also have about 20 bottles and cans available ranging from Chimay Red label, Lindemans Framboise Lambic and Boddingtons Pub Ale along with ciders and other import brews.

Beyond beers they have one of the best selections of cocktails around. Their Cosmos are a favorite.

They also have one of the best local selctions of Irish Whiskeys.

The thing that sets this place apart from the rest is the fact that they cater to the local professional crowd. You will not find many frat or sorority types here even though this is a college town. It is kinda a "Sex and the City" crowd (which explains the Cosmos) but without the pretension. I have talked with a couple of other local bar owners who wish they could get some of of the "Teller's" crowd. It is set that far apart.

A great atmosphere , dim lightitng sets off the well lit works of art that are available for sale on the walls around and above the bar and on the pillars supporting the low ceiling. The art rotates with the seasons, anything from the native american scetches, currently on display to block prints and photographic works that reflect the local community and area.

An uptown place located in the center of downtown Columbia.
