Purchased as part of "build-your-own-six-pack" at local grocer. Poured a medium foamy head on a decidedly uncloudy light amber body. Taste and smell were exactly the same: all raspberry, all the time. Couldn't spot anything, including any wheat ale characteristics (this is listed on the bottle as a wheat ale). Medium carbonation, but that really doesn't matter unless you can get past the raspberry, which I couldn't.

The worst offering Sea Dog has. This one is just a tad more horrible than the Apricot Wheat, as this one doesn't even have a raspberry taste to it. It's just an odd mix of fake fruity flavors in a malted beverage. I could only drink half of one and threw the rest out. Bad stuff right here.

Poured from 12oz bottle.
A- Pours a golden color with light red hue to it. One finger white head shows poor retention. Light spotty lace on the sides of the glass.
S- Sickly artifical raspberries on the overall aroma. This might actually be the worst artifical raspberry aroma I have actually smelled. Some malted wheat in the background with a light adjunct cereal tone to it as well.
T- Raspberry and when I say that I mean artifical raspberry all around the flavor. I couldn't really taste much of anything else..maybe a little malted wheat in the backend with more of a alcohol finish.
M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is higher than what it should be for the style. Raspberry is all I can taste with some sweet alcohol in the aftertaste. Light drying on the palate from the alcohol. Flavors are raspberry overload and not balanced. No off flavors except for the artificial raspberry.
D- This beer was a artifical raspberry mess. The ABV was low on it but it could almost be like drinking Boones Farm. Watery at times and a mess of flavors. Not a good beer at all in my opinion.

Well what do you expect from a fruit beer. No surprises here. Golden colored, thin head and a beer with a whole lot of raspberries. Shocker. Sorry but raspberry is really all I come up with. Tastes is very carbonated as well. Yeah, I didn't really like it.

Poured a 12oz bottle into a Chimay Chalice. Pours a hazy off straw with a nice white head but leaves no lacing, but probably because I'm drinking it too cold. Wow, if Fun Dip had a raspberry flavored sugar, that's what it smells exactly like. Reminds me of A.D.D. Taste is like a Sweet and Low version of the raspberry Fun Dip. Yuck, but its saving grace is that some of the wheat comes through on the finish. Mouthfeel is thin at best. Not recommended.

Tried this on tap with my girlfriend. I don't think I would have gone for it without her around. It pours a dark gold-maroon color that looks suspect. I'm willing to bet there's something artificial. Smell - of rasberries. Taste. Uggg. Sweet corn syrup rasberry flavor. That's the only thing. Where's the wheat? Seems to be filtered, no trace of yeast. Man, this is hardly beer. I don't know what to call this. It tastes like rasberry sugar water. Uggg. More like a wine cooler. Never again.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
A - Dark gold in color with very small/thin head that fades fast. No lace.
S - Mild fruity notes with some light bread. Not horrible.
T - Raspberry up front (artificial for sure)with some watery hop finish. Weak
M - Watery and almost flat, not good.
D - Not for me I'm afraid..

Objectiveness can only go so far. I cannot believe I am drinking this, this....thing. The only semi-redeeming quality is its color. Pours boring gold with red hue. Smell, what do you think it smells like? !?!?!? Taste like fruit punch seltzer with a stale aftertaste.
This not my type of beer, now or ever.

A - A 1/2 finger white head sits atop a golden/copper clear brew, and recedes to a wisp of haze within a minute.
S - Raspberry candy and raspberry/cherry syrup. Smells artificial ...like a piece of hard candy.
T - Raspberry jolly ranchers, raspberry seeds, and raspberry cool-aide. Nothing very beer-like going on here....it's pretty much like a boring lager with added raspberry syrup.
M - Foamy, light bodied, macro-lagery cheapness.
D - My fiance really likes the blueberry beer from this brewer, but the raspberry is no where near as good.

Poured out a deep golden color with a big white head. Smell was a bit too sweet with the raspberries. Some faint wheat aromas show up as well. Taste wasn't that great either. Sweet fake raspberry flavors ride the palate for the majority of the time. No other flavors showed up for the show. Mouthfeel was light to medium with some big carbonation. Finished too cloying and I wouldn't be able to handle a second one of these. Pass.

Pours a very light pale amber color, almost watery looking with a tiny white head that dissipates quite quickly without a lace. Aromas are of slight wheat, artificially sweet rasberry flavors, and a slight malt. For flavor this beer hits up front initially with the sweet rasberry flavors, which IMHO were just way to sweet and overwhelmed the beer flavors. Following there are some malt tones, and just a hint of wheat (to the point that I almost can't even call this a wheat beer) and a bit of a buttery like flavor. This beer finishes supersweet, with an almost tangy feeling on the pallate that just makes this beer undrinkable. The fruit flavors just don't taste right, and dominate the flavor of this beer to where is should be call a rasberry malternative instead of a fruit beer. Carbonation was nice and crisp to go along with the light body of this beer but overall it still couldn't pull this beer into something worth drinking

picked up 2 cases of mixed oddlot bottles to try with some friends.
Beer was very clear gold with hint of red. Definately filtered..no body whatsoever. Strong raspberry scent on first pour and mouthful, but was gone within seconds. Strong raspberry flavor, but fake tasting, too sweet. Very light tasting beer, I'm used to porters and stouts...but this was like drinking my daughters noname soda. Carbonation started out fizzy but was also gone within moments, flat before finished. I would drink this at a picnic, or working in the yard...but only if there was nothing else.

I like raspberries. My favorite fruit. But this beer is lacking. Pours very pale and clear. No head and almost no carbonation. Nose is fruity, but no idea what other than the hint on the bottle that it is a raspberry beer. Flavor is barely malty with hardly any hop presence. Raspberries are present but make me think raspberry flavored water thanks to the use of chemicals. It is very light and could be refreshing in the right situation (can't think of one really). The SO even turned her head at this beer. Mostly undrinkable because of the odd chemical raspberry flavors.

Sea dog is a female friendly beer. I know this because when I poured it at the tasting at my store, all the college girls loved it. Poured a blasé, thin amber color. They could have at least put a hint of red. This makes believe this will be a fake raspberry taste. Smell was thin and dominated by that faux raspberry puree sweetness. The taste was surprisingly tame and not oversweet but did not offer any complexity and actually took a turn for the worse with a flat maltiness and say, rasberry flavored Cheerios in the finish. Not the beer for me.

Pours the color of a cream soda, kind of a honey-orange. Head is noisy and quickly dissipates like a soda.
Smell is of raspberry, hops & some citrus, wheat, yeast, malt.
Taste is raspberry and wheat. A slight hoppiness and some maltiness hiding out in the aftertaste. Not bitter or cloying in sweetness. Raspberry was less noticeable than in say, Lindemans' Framboise lambic, but nicely represented.
A smooth, medium-bodied feel made this easy to drink but in the end it was only a middle of the road offering, it really didn't stand out from the crowd.
A second try with this brew showed a thin, almost watery, body more reminiscent of an octoberfest with raspberry.
I would drink it again but won't go out of my way to do so.

I purchased this beer at Malones Bar and grill in Harrisburg, PA.
After pouring the beer i though that it was gonna be great because it look terrific.
The smell was also very nice and seemed like it would taste good.
The taste was ok but it felt like i was drinking vinegar to an extent. it was too acidic and i dont feel that would want to drink more than just one in a sitting or in a month.
It was something different but not my type of beer.

appearance: bight yellow with a kinda dark hue to it...a soda-like head formed when i poured it and quickly dissapated.
smell: like sugar coated rasperries....nothing "beer-like" about this smell
taste: barely any taste at. it starts with a quick punch of rasperry...some wheat flavors and a fruity bitterness to finish. the flavor is in desperate need of some complexity
mouthfeel: entirely too thin
drinkability: eh
*overall impression* this seems like a half-assed beer

This 'wheat' beer looks like a macro lager, barely copper and bubbly as all get out.
All I smell is raspberry. I really sniffed deep, but that's it.
There is a bit of malt at the very back of my mouth, but mostly it tastes like a raspberry freezy-pop; the kind of thing that's neon-blue out of a slushy machine at 7-11
Fizzy and harsh, none of the wheat mouth I'm familiar with.
I'm going to assume this is very drinkable to a lot of people because I make an apricot wheat in this vein and the wifes/girlfriends drink it up, so...

From a 12oz bottle BEB March 2004
Appearance is a clear reddish gold. Virtually no head and what little it has disappears quickly. There is no smell but the faint hint of raspberry. After I taste it I realize why it has no aroma. It has no taste either! An incredibly light body bordering on watery. Light syrupy raspberry taste but not much else here. Weak mouthfeel.
I hate to slam a Sea Dog but this is a wimpy, watery ale with no complexity at all. I can appreciate a subtle brew but they didn't even try to make this one interesting. I'll leave the rest of these for my wife but I won't be partaking again.

Pours out a bright, crisp light gold and sits a clear orange amber in the glass with a decent sized white head, fading fast to nothing at all, forget about lacings.
Smells of an aromatic raspberry air freshener, almost phenolic. Candy-like aroma is overpower and masks all other aromas. Maybe just a hint of marachino cherries, and a flakey crust presence, a bit of butter.
Tastes of a smooth, gooey raspberry puree, though this one is made entirely out of products that have nothing to do with raspberries. Result: an overy sweet fruit flavor sitting on top of an even more unoriginal base of white bread and pale, grassy hops. Finished with a light bitterness, sweetness sitll lingering.
Crisp in the mouth. Carbonation is plain and fine, not too overly assertive. Quite light however, a bit watery.
Two birds with one stone I guess, just make one blueberry flavored and the other raspberry. It might be a smart move, IF the beer you're starting out with was actually halfway decent. Not impressed one bit.

Poured into a shaker pint. Thin wisp of head that was gone quickly. Color is pale with a slightly pink coloration. Clear. This beer looks like standard BMC but with a pink hint.
Smell is all artificial raspberry aroma. It smells like raspberries, but not naturally so. No malt or hops to compete.
This is the least characterful "craft" beer I may have ever had. Just bland, like BMC it has the character of drinking water. So thin and light. No hops, no wheat character that I can detect. Some raspberry flavor, but this beer is so dry & non-tart that the fruit character isn't very characterful.
Mouthfeel is thin, thin, thin, not pleasant, like BMC.
Drinkability -- well I won't seek out another.

Pours a lifeless golden with almost no head or even hint that the beer is carbonated at all. Sweet raspberry syrup is the only thing in the nose. If blindfolded I'd think I was sniffing jolly ranchers or something.
Raspberry flavor overpowers almost anything beer related in this taste. Miniscule hop bitterness in the finish but really, this is raspberry juice with alcohol. It's making me slightly nauseous. Mouthfeel is thin and unimpressive. This is lousy, even for my low expectations. Will not be trying this one again.

Pours a very small 1/2 finger head that dissipates quickly. Dark gold/copper clear with no head staying power, and no lacing. Medium carbonation and very watery looking.
Smell is predominant vegetative with a candy gummie bear fruit bouquet. Smells like penny candy with no wheat or chew biscuit components. Not that great.
Taste is flat, but a faint chew on after taste. However it's mouthfeel and bigger cheap gummy fruit taste is weak, stale, extremely wet, not even that fruity virtually no body in this beer at all.
I will never have one of these again and Sea Dog has done much better but this is really not good.

I really wasn't too crazy about this beer. I might try it again if I had it, but I'd probably go for just about any other beer available. The taste at first started out nice but then completely overwhelmed you with an artificial raspberry flavor.
After thinking about it for a while and debating if I wanted to finish it or not it finally dawned on me what this beer reminded me of. A wine cooler! The kind that you would find in your parents fridge as a kid growing up, before you knew what a good drink was. So, if you're still trying to move up from wine coolers then this is the beer for you but, if you have a seasoned palate, move along, nothing to see here.
