I've been to this particular Yard House location many times, so it's about time that I review the place.
I went here with a bunch of friends on a Thursday night at 10pm and the place was about half-full. It gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but that's to be expected. The Yard House is basically a glorified bar, with the dinning area surrounding the 100+ taps and about 30 bar stools. The music is usually very loud, and it makes conversation a bit difficult. They have lots of TV's showing your favorite sports.
The quality of every Yard House I've been to is good. An overall clean and simple establishment.
The service is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a great waiter/waitress that's very attentive and, in the best case scenario, knowledgeable about beer! You may get your beer with a nice, one-finger head, or you'll get a pint that's filled to the brim with zero head. I've always had pretty decent service though.
As far as selection goes, they have a large amount of macro stuff with a few really good taps to choose from. To be fair, The Yard House has really stepped up their game in the past year. I had a Stone Ruination and an Alesmith Nautical Nut Brown, both are new additions to the beer menu. Each beer I had was fresh and delivered to my table with a nice head on it. They've recently added Avery White Rascal, Green Flash IPA, Big Sky Moose Drool, and Paulaner Oktoberfest, along with a few other good ones. (I'm still holding out for Old Rasputin, which the Costa Mesa Yard House has on tap).
The food is pretty darn good. It's bar food with a gourmet touch. I had an Ahi sandwich, which was very good. Their fries are pretty bangin' too.
The food prices are a bit high, but this is a full-blown restaurant, so I don't mind the cost. The beers cost somewhere around $5.50 and $6 a pint.
Overall, this a good place to grab some good/very good beer and get a good meal. I said the word "good" a lot in the previous sentence, but that's what The Yard House is. Good, not great.

Part of a reventalized downtown Brea, the Yard House sits on the east side of Brea Blvd. Me and a friend hit up the place last night just to check it out and have a drink, and boy do they have a lot of drafts. You walk in up a short ramp and see flat sports televisions all over the place. Even at 9pm on a Sunday, there was still a good number of people there. Loud music plays in the background, but its not overbearing and allows you to have a conversation with your drinking buddy. And then there's the bar, centered in the middle of the dining room in an oval shape.
With over 80 varieties, there's plenty of beer to choose from of many styles. I decided to try my first saison (Ommegang Hennepin), which was served in a goblet. My buddy ordered a goblet of Delirium Tremens. Those two beers are just a small peek of the variety of beers they offer. The bartender seemed knowledgable with his views, and poured the beers nicely in our goblets. They ended up going for $6 a piece, meaning you should only get beer here you can't find anywhere else on daft, or better yet, come during their happy hour where they offer $3.25 beers (M-F, 3-6pm). Recommended if downtown Brea is your destination.

great location. right next to an old navy shop so while the wife does some shopping, i do some drinking. (not to mention taps is within walking distance too and bj's a bit further)
anyway, typical young yuppie type crowd, most certainly not there for the beer. nothing wrong with this. yard house may be lots of things, but a beer bar is not high on the list. that also applies to quality and selection.
while they do serve some beer in snifter glasses, its only due to athe alcohol content, or thats the impression i get. other beer is served in blank pint glassware. i got a kick out of watching one bartender pour a guinness. left the glass about two feet away from the tap. opened her up, went to pour another beer, and came back just in time to stop the guinness as it reached the rim of the glass. could be entertaining on a busy night.
service was good. while most of the restaurant was empty, nearly every seat at the bar was filled. no trouble getting the attention of a server, and they were quick and polite.
while they dont lack for number of taps, many were macros and quite a few were doubles on each side of the oval bar. understandable, but again, this isnt a beer bar. there are a few decent craft brews, but probably not a lot you havent had before. i'll take hollingsheads ten rotating taps to this place any day.
got there during happy hour so pints were $3.25. cant argue with that.
overall, there are a few reasons to come here, watch some sports, people watching, and cant really think of anything else where this place would beat others in the area.

The Yard House in Brea just opened up about 3 weeks ago. It is typical Yard House, complete with dark wood and hipster meathead guys and cookie cutter girls. Since TAPS is right down the street, the Yard house is picking up the younger college clientele.
I took one of my beer tasting buddies with me during the first week it was open. We sampled a bit of the food. He had one of the sandwiches and I had a bowl of the clam chowder soup. The food did not bowl me over but it was good. I actually prefer the food at brewpubs better. Lot less pricey and a lot more beer friendly.
I ordered the North Coast Pranqster and my buddy ordered the Abbey Ale that they had on tap. They have some Abita (all were currently tapped out from the opening party) and there were the Stone standards and some Lindemen's, Pyramid and all the Lost Coast beers. The only two seasonals they offer are rotating taps from Sam Adams and Widmer. I was surprised to see the Delirium Tremens and a few others on tap. Not too bad of a place for a little lunch break on a Sunday afternoon.
I would be careful to hit it up at night as it is slowly becoming a club atmosphere.
