Appearance: It has a nice cloudy golden/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately slow and leaves little lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of Belgian yeast, peppery spices, citrus, banana and some breadiness.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has a some bready Belgian yeast, peppery spices, lemon, citrus, (almost tropical) and light banana.
Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

Orange coloured and cloudy, with a small and poorly retained white head. Fruity, yeasty, and spicy aroma with notes of orange, banana, coriander, dry yeast, and pepper. Fruity and spicy flavour, and very lightly sweet. Citrus and banana, bready, cloves, and peppery. Light bitterness in the finish. Almost medium-bodied with low carbonation. Feels very smooth, but a little bit dead on the palate. I think a little bit more carbonation would be an improvement. A pretty good take on the style, definitely tending towards the drier end of the spectrum.

Bottled 7 12 and purchased in recent LCBO release. Not certain it's true to the Tripel style in a biblical sense, but that's probably why it appeals to me!
Glad to be trying a non barrel aged version, as there's a lot going on and adding oak might make it overwhelming. Pours a hazy orange amber, with the minimal head dissipating near-instantly. Pleasantly surprised by the hops in the aroma, although the Belgian yeast and caramelized malts are in the forefront. A complex taste, from an initial malt focus to a nice tropical fruit hoppiness and bitterness. Although the Belgian evidence is there throughout, the spices aren't overpowering. The 10.5% ABV is well hidden, with only a hint of alcohol warmth in the lingering finish.
Very much looking forward to anything brewed by this Shawinigan micro!

The bottle pours a slightly hazy orange colour with a good amount of head. Tastes slightly bready, with yeast and dark fruits in there, with the spices coming through in the finish. You can tell this is a big beer with each sip as its 10% alc. but it does not come through in the taste at all. Very easy to drink for the size of this big beer. Glad I got to try this one.

500mL bottle into Duvel tulip.
Bottled 07/12 as per markings on label.
Newly available at the LCBO in "Limited Quantities"
A- Super hazy, dark orange pour. Two finger soapy off white head with great gobs of lacing stuck to the glass.
S- The first thing that really pops is the noble hops. A nice grassy aroma with a touch of sweetness. The Belgian yeast is spicy but not as over the top as the majority of Tripels I've come across. Sweet tangerines with some digestive cookies.
T- Dry yeast up front with some sweet fruits, grassy hops and a slight peppery spice.
M- Medium body, good carbonation with a slightly silky finish.

A pleasant surprise to find at my local LCBO, and glad to have an opportunity to try the non-barrel aged version.
A - Pours a hazy golden orange colour, finger of head with decent retention and some sporadic lacing.
S - Nose is dominated by peppery spice, yeast esthers, sweet citrus, raw cane sugar and a soapy lemon finish.
T - Flavour profile offers up a fruity yeast flavour, peppery spice, hints of mandarin, bananas, bubble gum and a grainy bready malt flavour lingers alongside a touch of ABV sweetness.
M - Mediun bodied, smooth and surprisingly wet.
O - A tasty brew that is full flavoured, solid flavour profile, surprising complexity and a welcome treat to Northern Ontario. Would certainly be nice to see more of this type of offering readily available locally, but certainly glad this made it to the north.

Bottled on 07/12. Poured in to snifter.
A - Very hazy medium orange with a golden glow around the edges. Half a finger of bright white head formed and reduced to a thin film along the top of the beer.
S - Big spice nose up front with big Belgian yeast and clove aromas. Some sweet bready malt notes in the background.
T - Big clove and Belgian yeast punch up front with a heavy spice profile. A big bready malt sweetness, peppercorns, a light fruitiness and some warming alcohol are also present.
M - Medium body, slightly chewy. Very dry. Light carbonation.

La Buteuse pours (from a bottle into a snifter) a cloudy amber orange with a thin ring of white head. A big, bread-y yeast aroma is complemented with sharp, peppery spice, marmalade, and sweet sugar. There is a little hint of grape (maybe more raisin) and some funkiness, for some reason I'm reminded of a trip to Niagara wine country! It's starts quite sweet and ends quite bitter. Full bodied and aggressive carbonation with a very pleasant alcohol warmth. A brasher approach to the Abbey Tripel which is really worth seeking out.

500ml Bottle from the Ottawa LCBO for 4.45$
Appearance - Hazy light copper colour with an average size fizzy beige coloured head. I can't make out the level of carbonation showing and there is some faint lacing. The head lasted for 2-3 minutes.
Smell - Lemons, coriander/clove, yeast, bananas
Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts mixed with bananas and lemons and green grapes. There is also a bit of coriander/clove and some peppery/yeasty notes. It ends with a ripe banana and citric bitter aftertaste.
Overall – A nice mix of flavours going on that allows for each sip to be interesting. I can pick up on different nuances throughout the beer. I bought a few bottles to try to see if I wanted to stock up... I'm not going to fill the trunk but I'll grab a few more.

Appearance: Amber/copper color. One of the darker tripels.
Aroma: A little bit of spices, but more phenolic. A hint of bubblegum as well!
Taste: Malty front (caramel and bread flavor) with spices towards the end.
Mouthfeel: Medium-high carbonation, slightly sticky, not too dry. Highly drinkable for 10% abv.
Overall: To be honest, I like amber tripels! This is not a classic representation of the style, but the taste and mouthfeel are very nice. A highly drinkable amber tripel!
