Love Julio's. I live about 45 minutes away, so I'd never been to Julio's until last week, when I pick up a bottle of Parabola. Their beer saleswoman, Sarah, helped me pick out some good beers for a solid 30 minutes, which was great. I left with a bunch of hard to find beers (Yulesmith Summer Holiday Special, Parabola, Cease and Desist) and a bottle of B. Nektar Bourbon Barrel Mead. What a great place. I'll definitely be back. They have a solid 1200 different beers, and they are carefully organized by imports/domestic/rare finds/etc. Great sales team, and they have an excellent foreign selection.

The true mecca of beer in Massachusetts. I have visited this store pretty much weekly since I started working in Worcester last June.
The atmosphere is almost overwhelming. As you enter you see so much, selections of whiskey, rum, vodka, gourmet chocolate and cigars, a huge rack of hot sauces (just as good as the beer selection), Scotch. As you head to the right side of the store you find the beer section.
The quality and selection of the store are unmatched in Massachusetts and rivals the best stores I have been to in NYC and Philly. A huge selection of US craft bombers, sixers and I have known people who ordered Old Viscosity and other good kegs from here. If it is available, or a limited release that makes it to MA, they will get it. I have gotten Founders KBS and both Nemesis' here.
The import selection is far and away the best I have seen in MA. Beer from all around the world can truly be found here. Belgium, England, Germany, Nordic countries, France, Italy to name a few.
Dont forget to check out the coolers as there are 100s of other beers stashed away in there, as well as most of the locals.
The employees are all familiar faces to me now, most of the beer guys seem to work full time and they really do know a LOT about beer. You can ask them anything and they will usually have a good answer. I would call ahead a time for super-limited releases because of this store's ridiculous popularity.
Quite possibly the thing that puts them over the top is the 15% off mix-a-six promotion. I do this once or twice a week to get all my beer to review at ridiculously good prices. Mix any six beers (12oz-growlers) and they will mark each down by 15%. Each time you do this deal six times, you get a free glass or two sometimes. I have so much awesome glassware from Julio's.
If you visit MA on vacation or live here and haven't made it out, you must go to Julio's for craft beer.

I finally made it out to Julio's, and while I'm glad I did, I'm disappointed that it took me so long to make the trip. There's certainly an impressive beer selection, with several aisles of six packs and singles as well as a large area at the rear of the store where cases are located. There are a couple of fridges used for beer - these house some singles and growlers from BBC and Opa Opa, among others - but the vast majority of the beer is stored at room temperature. Singles were available (at a premium) for most of the beers available in sixers, but the higher prices are mitigated somewhat by a 15% discount when buying at least 6 bottles at a time. Selection covered a lot of NE breweries, plus many of the larger outfits that distribute into MA - Stone, DFH, Lost Abbey, Alesmith, Founders, etc. There were plenty of foreign beers too, with good selections from the UK, Belgium, Germany, and Canada. Vintage selections were clearly marked as well - there were several from DFH from ~2008 available during my visit. Prices overall are quite good relative to other local bottleshops. Service was alright. I was asked if I needed help once and the staff was pleasant to speak with. Although it's a little out of the way for me, I'll definitely be back.

One word could sum up Julios Liquors in Mass. - AWESOME. The selection is insane and if you buy more than 6 bottles then you get 15 percent off, and the best part is no sales tax!!! Like I said AWESOME. Some of the beers I picked up in february included LA Red Poppy, LA Angels Share Bourbon and Brandy, Port Brewing Mongo IPA, Cisco Woods and other Ciscos, Weyerbacher Double Simcoe, Rock Art Barleywine, Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze, Hannsens Lambics, Haandbrygat, and more. I couldnt believe my eyes. It seems everyone in there spent at least an hour in the beer section just looking at everything. They also have almost any liquor you could want, along with cigars and hot sauces. Largest Tequila selection I've ever seen as well. You have to check this place out, you definately wont be disappointed.

This is a huge store down in Westborough - a bit of a hike for me but it is worth a trip once in a while.
The entire right side of the store houses a pretty amazing selection of beer. There are multiple aisles, shelves and coolers housing pretty much any beer you can get in the New England area. They have a very well organized selection of singles, 4/6pks and cases all grouped together so you buy whatever quantity you desire. You can also mix and match anything you want, no restrictions at all.
Price wise they were quite good and they offer a nice discount even if you mix and match out of any 4/6pks.
Place seems extremely popular, I could barely even find a place to park. Good luck finding a dusty gem hiding in the back of a shelf. Everyone knows about this place and it shows. Everything appears quite fresh and they are constantly getting new stock in.
Service is hard to say. It seems very popular and busy so I never had a chance to chat beer with anyone. More "businesslike" than your average local mom and pop craft beer joint.
They have a decent web presence and have a facebook page with regular updates.
Overall, very nice place, it would be more of a go-to joint if it weren't so far from me.

I have now been to Boston twice in two months and I make a special trip to Julios. The 30-45 minute drive is well worth it. They have an amazing selection of cases from BMC to craft mix packs. I make sure to check those out as the stock is changing and fresh, too. My first time in there, their bottle selection almost made me cry. Beers I have only read about, finally a chance to buy them. Staff was helpful, when asked and knew what their inventory was without looking. Even the other customers were friendly. Beer selection covered the whole country and an aisle dedicated to Belgium beers.
I even took a while peek into the single malt scotch section. Vast, ranging quantities from ever region possible.
Two trip there for me, both topped $100, and I was leaving a lot behind. A must stop if relatively close to Westboro.

Hands down, best place to buy beer in the greater greater boston area. Probably in all of MA, but i really cant speculate about that convincingly.
the staff of beer lovers makes the trip enjoyable and the prices are very good.
The sheer volume of beer in this place is enough to bewilder any passerby. I spent almost 45 mins in this place just walking around the craft beer section finding new beers with every turn.
The staff didnt even approach me. But i have interacted with them online and they know their stuff. Im sure that translates into the store. I picked up some Gnomegang as well as a bunch of other stuff.
i like the deal they have, buy 6 bottles of anything (any size) and get 15% off the price of each item you buy. Very cool!

Stopped at Julio's on our way to the EBF '11. Planned on stopping here during our last trip through the area and that just didn't pan out. I was on the fence about stopping after hearing mixed reviews from friends who were there. Thanks to Kegatron for talking me into stopping.
Julios is great, it is a place that I would only avoid if I didn't want to spend money. Honestly, the selection is awesome and it could have easily decimated my wallet. Instead, I kept my total purchases to the size of a basket. Once the basket got heavy and ackward to carry I called it quits and walked as fast as I could to the checkout before picking up more beer. They had so many offerings I wanted to buy but didn't just because I already had picked out too much.
A fully array of lost abbey beers were available priced as expected pretty average. Certain BBC bombers in the coolers were marked at $4-5 for coffee porter, old ale, etc. I grabbed a few because that just isn't something you see back in PA. Red poppy seemed to be the buzzed beer at the moment while I was in the store. Evidently they must have sold a metric shit ton of it at $16.99 a 375ml bottle because it was the central focus of the employees talking and not believing that one partial case was all that was left.
As far as service goes, one person asked me if I needed help which was nice but I was there to browse with no direct intensions of looking for any hidden gems or stuff that you need to "be in the know or a regular to gain access to." While I was browsing, I overheard employees talking about "the special beer in the back" that only special customers, friends, owner and locals get access to. I don't know why but hearing that bothered me a little. If you want to talk about your secret society dealings, keep it out of public sight and sound.
They have a special where you get 15% or so off when you do a mixed six. Evidently that only applies to some of the beers because some of the more expensive corked and caged offerings did not get this discount. Looking around at other specials and clearance items...world wide stout '08 for $7. Not too shabby!
Overall a solid place and worth the hype and all the praise it gets. I'm a little annoyed by some of the minor details but it is certainly a stop that is worth your time. I think it's impossible to leave empty handed unless you have a very specific rare beer you are looking for.

Hands down one of the greatest places to buy beer in the Northeast. A fantastic staff of beer lovers and good prices on crazy amounts of beer. A large selection of belgians to the left as you enter the beer area, but dwarfed buy the insane selection of American craft beers. Who ever runs the beer area deserves some kind of medal. I was asked three times if I needed help, but not in an annoying way. They genuinely know their stuff and are willing to help. If you are anywhere on the eastern side of the state, this is your place.

Place was awesome, super clean, big, all the dates are beyond mint, no old dusty crap on the shelves. Selection is as good as you're going to get without going into Boston. Neatly arranged on the shelves. Can't stress how clean and organized this place looks.
Plenty of Founders, Great Divide, Bruery, Lost Abbey, 21st Amendment, Troegs and of course all of the local brews.
Dates were all well within reason and most were incredibly fresh. Help is all around and will look in the back for special requests.
Pricing was average to good. Discounts on cases.
