A - Kind of put off on the pour alone. Way too much carbonation that gives me 2+ inches of head filling my English pint glass to the rim. Waiting for it to settle never happens since it's constantly fed by tons of bubbles. Head and beer looks dark very porter pitch black like for an English brown. Head is an opaque colored almost mocha with tons of lacing (to be expected for the carbonation)
S - Smell has a lager like consistency some harsh grains, somewhat metallic. Very little nuts or chocolate that I expected for the style.
T - Very metallic even after warming it up a bit. Has a sort of lager yeast skunky ness and very little sweet malts. Kind of drinks like a poorly made black lager.
M -Light to medium in body. Metallic and somewhat bitter.

Overall I was intrigued going into this since the style wasn't listed on the bottle. Pours like a porter, drinks like a black ale, and has the metallic twang of a poorly made macro lager. Not sure what it's trying to be but it's definitely not a brown ale... Pretty much bought it for the name and now I can say it sucks dick.

Glass: Nonic pint glass

Appearance: Brown with ruby highlights. Light brown creamy head that retains about two fingers worth.

Smell: Yeast, cloves, and ginger.

Taste: Cloves, malts, and a lager taste at the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, smooth texture that seems to roll on and off the tongue. Very strong carbonation.

On tap at Taproom 307 in NYC; pours very dark brown, almost black in color, until it's held up to the light when some orange shows through; it had a creamy 2 finger tan head that faded slowly, leaving very good foamy lacing clinging to the side.

Smells of sweet malt, citrus hops, caramel, grains, light coffee or cocoa, and faint burnt or roasted wood; pretty mellow nose overall that's sweet and roasted.

Tastes like it smells, with sweet malt, citrus hops, grapefruit, caramel, toasted grains, light coffee, cocoa, and faint burnt or roasted wood; it tastes good, but is exactly like the smell and mellow and smoky with a little hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light and creamy, with very light carbonation, a body on the lighter side and watery flow as it goes down and finishes with a dry smoky finish. A good session beer that was enjoyable but a little on the basic side regarding flavor, still it was well balanced and easy to drink.

A dark amber red brew with a strong fluffy head.   Lacey and play sand colored the cap lasts for the duration of the brew.  A very pretty colored brew.

Nose is a little disappointing, kind of sweet smelling with touches of fruit.  I was hoping for more of a malt but it never fully materialized.

Taste goes in a much better direction.  The sweetness in the nose carries over to the flavor but it is more then balanced by malts.  Tart bit of fruit and nut finish.  Quite nice.

The mouthfeel is very smooth and silky.  Light carbonation makes for a medium body and an almost buttery feel.  A decent english brown ale that could use some more malt in the flavor and nose departments but still an easy drinker. Worth checking out.

dick's danger ale is not an english brown... go to their webpage. dick's danger is a strong, and if anything tastes more like a scottish wee heavy than a brown. that aside, pours a beautiful deep red/ruby brown, with a thick white head. the nose is full of dark fruits, plums, cherries, dates. the flavor is full and malty. nice crisp dry finish. this beer is awesome! i love that this is so complex and only 5.2%. (i know it's rated 5.5%, but my bottle says 5.2%.)

Pours a hazy deep amber color with a light tan head. In the aroma, not much other than a small maltiness. In the taste, a sweet malt, but nothing more than plain and simple. A small bite and medium to light bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry malt in the aftertaste. Basic, more an ale than a brown. Nothing exciting, but not bad either.

Thanks for the tick, Bobby.

A: Pours an appropriate brown color with a finger of khaki colored head.

S: There is a fair amount of nuttiness to the nose along with a bit of roasted malt. A mild chocolate malt aroma to it as well. A touch of toffee and dark fruits, and maybe some earthy hops.

T: Surprisingly fruity, lots of raisins and dark cherries. A very, very earthy flavor; to the point that it tastes like dirt. Decent roasted character and a bit of sweetness and nut flavor. Quite bitter, as well.

M: The body is fairly light with a moderate to high carbonation.

D: Not all that good. Way too earthy and bitter and just not very interesting.

Appearance is a dark brown with an easily dissapating head and spotty lace. Smell of lightly sweet caramel and roasted malts and dark fruits. Taste pretty much fallows the aroma with a good balance of the mild hops. Mouthfeel is medium with mild carbonation. One of the better brown ales I've tried thus far.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass. My bottle indicates 5.2% ABV rather than the above-listed 5.5%.

Appearance: rich, tawny brown with a crystal-clear body and a thin finger of frothy ivory foam. A pretty solid-looking brown ale.

Smell: nice malty aroma with touches of roasted grain; almost like a mild ale or a light porter aroma. I quite like it, although it's a bit light in intensity for my taste.

Taste: flavor backs up the aroma pretty well. Roasted grain adds a touch of sour bitterness, but this works well with the nutty malt flavors and tiny hints of chocolate brought on by the roasted malts. It's pretty good, but it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi that I can't seem to identify.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a good level of carbonation yields a surprising creaminess. I quite like the feel of this beer.

Drinkability: this beer is relatively tasty, but it doesn't really ring my bell. I feel like its flavor is watered down, somehow; it's much more like a very mild ale than a rich brown ale. Still, it's a decent beer.

This beer appears a dark burnt amber colour, with one finger of foamy white head, which leaves a broken wall of lace around the glass as it slips away. It smells of lightly roasted grain, and earthy, weedy hops. The taste is biscuity, toasty malt, a bit of toffee, and earthy hops. The carbonation is fairly low, the body medium weight and smooth, and it finishes off-dry, the roasted grain sweetness and drying hops still playing off one another.

A nice, enjoyable, old-world style brown ale.
