Pours a nice cloudy amber color, very nice carbonation, with a nice one-finger plus creamy off-white tan head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is mostly malty, slight hop note, and caramel. The taste is slightly sweet, bitter, lots of malts, with a touch of hoppyness. Medium body. A nice brew for a HOT day.

have taken down numerous cans of this one on work trips out to the red desert...comes in a 4 pack of pounders

a: dark for the style - grade B maple syrup amber, topped with a thin white head

s: dark toasted caramel malts produce toffee and dark sugars in the malt base, dark grain breads, some fruity notes - red apple perhaps, steeped hop aromas of earthy pine needles with a touch of citric acidity, the aroma carries a general woody/earthiness, actually quite complex

m: carbonation fairly light but with a touch of abrasion, body a lighter medium,

t: dark toasted caramel malts sit on a grainy malt base, bringing sweet caramelized notes to this "pale", starts sweetly but the hops hit fairly hard mid-stride with deeply woody and earthy pine flavors, a sappy bitterness building well into the finish to reach high levels, significant residual sugars left behind

o: a dark pale ale, both in color and character, lots of heavily toasted malt makes for a sugary start, but there's a big earthy hop punch to keep things balanced, pretty far from stylistically correct, but no big

thanks to bitterbill for sending this in a trade!

pours a deep amber color with a thin off white head that settles rather quickly, some spotty lacing is left behind. pine resin is the first thing to grab my attention. citrus and caramel malts are in there also. taste is more evenly balanced between the pine and citrus hops. some added sweetness from the caramel is enjoyed by me as it helps to knock down on the resin taste. a medium mouthfeel with good carbonation and a dry resiny finish. i enjoyed this beer more than i initially thought i would. a touch too much pine resin for me buit still very drinkable and enjoyable.

Pours a cloudy auburn color with a big, off-white head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of some piny and citrus hops.

Tastes of a very solid malt tone with a hoppy ending. Pine hops lead off blending into a rich malt profile. Malts have notes of brown sugar, caramel, and toffee along with a toasted bread character. Ends with more hops that have a more citric and grassy feel. Hop bitterness and malt sweetness is quite balanced.

Mouthfeel is medium-full with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overal, this is a pretty good beer. If I were given it blindly, I would identify it as an amber most likely, so if you like malty ambers, then this is worth a shot.

16oz can served in a standard pint glass.

L - murky amber color with a off-white head that started out small and thinned to a ring.

S - sweet and piney, it smells good.

T - starts out with piney bitterness, the middle flashes some malty sweetness, finishing with a bitter twang.

F - medium bodied with mild carbonation.

O - a good tasting beer.

Bought a sixteen pack of this in Rock Springs for ~$18 or so. 16oz can into a DFH Signature Glass.

A: Pours a deep copper color with about half an inch of sand colored head. Fairly hazy. Nice lacing left behind considering not much of a head from the start. A little dark, but not bad at all.

S: Piney hops, a little bit of citrus, just a nice hoppy profile that isn't overbearing, just nice. Little bit of caramel malt and a faint little bit of coffee/roast in there.

T: Nice strong piney resinous hop flavor, big time caramel malts and just a bit of that roast/coffee that was in the nose. Medium amount of bitterness on the finish. Tons of hop flavor and oils that linger in the mouth long after the swallow. Quite nice.

M: Absolutely spot on. Perfect carbonation, medium thickness, sweet enough to keep the bitterness in check but dry enough to keep things rolling and make you want to take another swig.

O: A good pale, even if it is a little on the strong side. A much stronger offering in the cans than the blonde ale. Kudos to the boys from the north half of God's country.

The 16oz cans just showed up in Casper today. $6.99 for the 4 pack.

It pours a deep amber colour with a 2 finger head of foam and brings some nice lacing.

I smell a pretty nice balance of sweet malt and piney/citrus hops.

The taste starts off with some nice hoppy bitterness, mostly pine with a bit of citrus grapefruit, then becomes decidedly malty with a dashing taste of caramel. From there, the beer goes back to hoppy and finishes on the bitter side. This is pretty yummy.

The carbonation is on the low side, again for a canned Wind River beer, so I'm a bit puzzled at how great a head of foam it forms and keeps when poured. Anywho, the mouthfeel is on the high side of light bodied and I find this tasty and very easy to drink. I see the can says this is 7.2%abv which differs from the draught version of 8.35%. Good move in lowering the abv, me thinks.

Overall, a tasty and solid if still a bit strong for the style. I recommend you try it if you see it.

Had this on tap a while back, the following is of notes I took at that time
A: Clear copper red color nice sized head good lacing
S: Sharp piney hop scent, not much else
T: Slight caramel up front strong piney aftertaste
M: Medium bodied good amount of carbonation for the style
O: Could be a bit more balanced but overall a decent pale ale.
