Train your taste buds on this one! We use six varieties of malt in our stout, including boxcar portions of chocolate malt which lends a roasted, mocha flavor to the beer. Rich and robust, Junction City Chocolate Stout is not for the faint of palate.

Got this on-tap at SL Pasta & Pizza in SLC.
A-no head. Black with some brown highlights; no lace. I think it was either improperly poured or the tap wasn't attached correctly. I have loved this beer for nine years! And it always looked good in the past. Just not today.
S-a little smoky; burnt barley; toasted malt; black chocolate notes
T-black chocolate; metallic; a little mocha and black coffee; toasted barley malt. Disappointed overall. Too much fizz.
M-Fizzy; medium bodied; and watery.
I was disappointed with this beer. This is the first time I had drank this since 2009 or so. I don't remember it being so poorly done. Maybe it was a bad tap or perhaps my tastes have improved. It just didn't look right, smell right, or taste right. So sad.

Aroma - Roasted malts and a definite coffee note
Appearance - Dark with a thin creamy head that provided a decent amount of lacing.
Taste - A smooth stout that comes with a medium coffee flavor with a fine roasted malt base. Not too much chocolate but it was there too.
Notes - Unsurprisingly this tastes like a very good stout just not the usual big stout notes. Slightly subdued flavors and mouthfeel. A very drinkable stout just not a classic example. Given the ABV restriction this is a very good beer.

A: Deep dark brown color; even the highlights were brown. Poured a 1 finger creamy light brown head with fair retention. Laced in rings all the way to the end.
S: Toasted malts, bittersweet coffee/chocolate blend. Very deep "dark" aromas
T: Chocolate, bitter coffee and toffee. Burnt toasted and black malts come through as the beer warms.
M: Medium body relative to flavors. Low carbonation. Silky, smooth coating.
D: I really liked this beer and can feel myself maybe "over-rating". Very tasty without wearing me out. I actually had this before, during and after dinner, so I'm sure I missed some of the other offerings (though I need to rate 2 more I had the day before).

Draft pint at the Layton location; Its nice and dark with a dcently ice-creamed floaty head. Nice roasty -java aroma. and a nice creamy chocolate flavor with a wisp of a smoky/roasty edge. this unfortunately is a tad bit watery, but otherwise quite enjoyable. (#2786, 4/9/2007)
