Pale gold color. Nose grain, like the mouth that tastes also cereals. The smell is quite unique grain and easily identifiable. The body is light at first but with a mouth-taste with a bitter taste characteristic of the Jupiler which is not really nice and comes quickly in the mouth. You can feel the finish of the bitterness of cereal a little dirty but pronounced.

From an 11.2 oz can (dated July 2, 2014) into a pint glass.

A-A normal pour produces a light, yellow-gold brew with a thin, white head that drops quickly. No lacing, not much activity in the beer.

S-The smell is slightly grainy with a mild hop bite. There isn't much here, but a little whiff of banana reminds you that this is a Belgian beer. Conversely, a touch of skunk reminds you that this is a canned, macro-style lager.

T-The taste is mild like the smell, but with less intrigue. The brew is grainy, with a hint of toast, and only a minute kick of skunky, bitter hops.

F-The feel is light to medium with a tinny, slightly fizzy carbonation.

O-This brew is ubiquitous in the old country, but that doesn't make it great. Anyway, I would rank Jupiler one or two small notches above a BMC macro AAL type lager if only for the slightly interesting smell and the slightly heavier mouthfeel.

It isn't often that I go from one of the best beers in the world (Westvleteren) to one of the more common (Jupiler) in just a matter of two hours. I had a bottle at a cafe which was on the Belgium-France border outside Watou. On to the beer:

This beer is pale gold colored with a short head and decent retention. It smells of a strange iron, and it also smells of a standard malted barley. The taste at least is a small improvement over the aroma. It starts with vague cereals and some DMS. Is there fermenting asperagus in this beer? A dry barley note and slight fruitness bring a little rescue effort to the beer, making it half-decent. The beer is light bodied and "soapy", and okay with the drinkability.

Eh, it's okay. It's probably better than a skunked Stella though.

On-tap at Cafe Katoen, Amsterdam, Netherlands

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down but left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of bready malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of bready and grainy malts along with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium- bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is easy to drink and tastes like an average pale lager, but without any flavors of adjunct malts.

Served on-draught into a 25cl glass in a bar in Belfort, France. Reviewed from notes taken in Summer 2011.

A: Pours a two finger head, fluffy white, with light cream, fair thickness, and good retention. Body colour is a semitransparent crystal yellow.

Sm: A light aroma of barley and crystal malts. Hopping is generic floral.

T: Light barley foundation with some pleasant smooth cream. A handful of crystal malts. Floral hops. Pretty simple but refreshing. Maybe a buried hint of lime? Balanced.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Complements the flavour profile okay.

Dr: Below average in quality. Priced highly at 3 euro for 25cl (by French standards). Hides its average ABV okay. Meh. Not very good stuff.

330ml bottle served in a Weizen glass.

A: Pours a pale and clear yellow color forming a beg bubbled and aired white head. Medium retention and tons of lacings formed and left

S: Very grainy and bready in the nose. Sweet grains. Some notes of adjunct malts and honey. Lager yeasts and light notes flowery hops in the end

T: Sweet grains upfront. Slightly sweet. Very grainy and a bit hoppy bitter finish. Notes of bready and biscuity Lager yeasts

M: Light body. Good carbonation. Grainy and slightly bitter aftertaste

O: Medium drinkability

A very light, golden amber colour with a very thin, bubbly white head that is more lacing than anything else.

Very grainy with some lager malts and a basic malty base coupled with some vegetable adjuncts on top.

Sweet malts and some citrus with a hint of skunk in there. Quite grainy with some bread and light hops.

Quite light bodied, fairly skunky and cheap tasting with a sweet but not overly pleasant tang to it.

Cheap and nasty tasting lager, I'm amazed that this is the best selling beer in Belgium and quite frankly it is an awful lager.

On draft at a few bars in Mons, Belgium. This beer is ubiquitous in these parts.

The beer is pale and golden yellow hued with a half inch of white head. A nice appearance for the style. The aroma brings grain, malt, lager scents. The flavor is of macro lager and tastes as if it is mass produced. Grainy finish, lingering bitterness. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. This was just ok.

We pour a pale golden brew. It holds a two finger head of fat white bubbles that pillows out of the glass. Retention is decent, and lacing is patterned all the way around the glass. There is full clarity to the beer, with no sediment or haze, and carbonation appears weaker. The aroma opens with adjuncty grain and a waxy, crayon-like quality. On the back there is sweetness of booze and deeper, more toasty caramel malts. Molasses sweetness is light but present. With warmth comes musk, cheddar cheese, and a distant earthy hop. Our first impression is that the grain is quite predominant and rather one dimensional. As we sip, bitter grain and souring lactic acids flow in. These make the base for the entire flavoring. The alcohol comes through as the swallow peaks, affording a spicy bite, and a warm synthetic cherry flavoring. This adds syrupy sweetness for a brief moment, and thickens the beer. We finish with souring adjuncts and flour, but the flavoring drops off readily, and is quickly thinned out by watery wash. The aftertaste breathes of flour, dried grass, white sugar, the faintest grassy hops, and constitutional sourness of grain. The body is lighter, while the carbonation is medium. The mouth is lightly coated with a metallic, slick liquid, and left cooled and happy. There is decent slurp and pop to each sip. The abv is appropriate, and the beer drinks nicely.

Overall, the thing we liked best about this beer was the cooling aroma and the clean finish to the beer. The nose was softer and less bitter than many of its competitors, and the following taste was equally as pleasant, for the style. Throughout the tasting, however, things never seemed as fresh as they could have been. The flavoring was there, but it was not very robust, deep, or very complex.

A- pale golden colour with some visible carbonation. Perfectly white 1 and a half finger head, decent retention and nice amounts of lacing

S- Grainy malts with a bit of a herbal feel on the back, slightly metallic

T- Slightly crisp grainy/crackery malts. Herbal/grassy hops with a touch of lemon in the finish. maybe some faint floral notes. Some real bitterness can be easily detected, this is actually a decently solid, real beer

M- Light, quite watery in body, appropriate for the style. Average carbonation, not overwhelmingly fizzy like most pale lagers

O- Easy drinker, decent taste. Good as a quick refreshing beer

As far as I can tell, this is the local substitute for budweiser in Brussels. It is the cheap fizzy lager that everyone in every cheaper bar buys by the caseload while watching whatever the most interesting sporting event is. I my opinion, it is better than bud/miller/colors/fosters by a small margin. The hops strike with a bit more edge, and the malts are just as good. Light yellow body with tons of bubbles. This takes 3rd place in my personal line up of macros, behind viru and Nile special.

The brew is clear golden straw colored, has a white head that settles rather quickly but leaves good lacing, some curtains.

Smelling sweet corn flakes and boiled vegetables.

Starting with some white bread, lemon and orange peel.

Medium carbonation, medium sized bubbles, rather refreshing, medium body, a dry finish.

An average pale lager, on the plus side not too sweet.

On-tap at a little café halfway between De Heeren van Liedekerke and the Liedekerke train station. I got a bottle of Hanssens Geuze to pass the time, but when my friend offered me some of her Jupiler to do a review I couldn't say no.

A: Clear straw body with fizzy carbonation filling out the thin white head. Ok retention, decent lace. Not bad.

S: Rather heavy, husky malt. Just pure grain. Pretty average.

T: Smooth malt, with both grainy and bready notes. Some light toffee toward the finish, and solid bitterness on the end. Pleasant enough.

M: Light and fizzy, becoming creamy after a moment. Ok.

O: Nothing I'd ever order when in Belgium, but somewhat better than your average fizzy yellow beer.

Bottle of 250 ml.
Pours a golden yellow color with a two finger head that slowly dissolves, leaving light to almost none lacing on the glass. Medium amount of bubbles rising and lots of them on the glass's wall.
Malty aroma and some hops.
Taste is very flat, nothing distinguishable.
Medium thickness and light carbonation.

Jupiler on draft at 't lammetje in Brugge. 25 cl. Straw color. High clarity. White fluffy head. High retention. Pilsner aroma, light fresh hops. Taste, lightly bitter, slight sweetness, similar to a German pils. Can't even tell the difference. Decent beer.

On Tap at the Aulde Dubliner

Appearance – Clear yellow colour with an avergae size fizzy white coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for 2 or 3 minutes.

Smell - Grains, bread, malts, light hops

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation. I can taste malts mixed with light hops and a grassiness. There is also a bit of a pear or apple sweetness. Not a whole lot of taste going on. It ends with a grainy bland aftertaste.

Overall – Nothing special going on here.. high drinkability but nothing that sets it apart from other beers in its style category. It's basically the same as something like a Stella Artois.

Had this yesterday.

A pale lager with a white head, as expected.
Good retention.

Smells grainy and quite hoppy. Pleasant.

The taste is very grainy and quite bitter, but it has this sort of chemical thing to it which is a big shame.

Not THAT watery, and well carbonated.

OK lager.

Don't believe those Belgians who will tell you how this and Stella Artois are a thousand times better than Heineken or any other Dutch lager. That's not true.

Having grown up in brussels on jupiler, and the rest, I know the standards of this beer can vary wildly. If served correctly, ice cold, in an immaculately clean 25cl glass, and in a bar full of friendly belgians, jupiler is hard to beat. I dont know what their export beer may taste like, but I think it is a lager that is balanced, maintains its head to the bottom of the glass, has lacing that runs the length of the glass, balances bitterness at the end with the sweetness that first hits your lips, and is really quite refreshing. Looks like lager should look like, served with a two-finger head that hangs around long enough. As far as commerical lagers go, it wins hands down against all the terrible commercial lagers from anywhere but belgium and germany.

Checked into my youth hostel in Liege on 26SEP11, but my room wasn't ready. Having an hour to kill, and being hungry, I roamed the vicinity and stopped into a sandwich shop nearby called "Chez Ali". Needing something to wash down my tasty Merguez-Frittes, I opted for a 0.25l of Juliper Blonde, at €2.00.

Poured into a short rock-glass, it was a clear, pale golden/straw colored brew. Very effervescent, with a rocky, white head that puffed up quickly then right back down. Carbo was steady, but lacing was minimal. Aroma was grassy and herbal, though mild. Medium body, surprisingly, though it was fairly prickly on the tongue. Still solid, though.

Tasted a little bready and crackery, with verrry subtle pear and green apple. The herbal finish also had a hint of spiciness. Not bad; not a keeper by any means, but it did the job at hand. Prosit!!

Pours a clean yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, basic and standard European lager smells. In the taste, a sweet to dry corn taste, but basically a standard lager. A small bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a lightly dry aftertaste. I just drank this on the bus from brewery to brewery just so I would not lose my buzz.

Enjoyed a night full of Jupiler in Belgium. A fair amount of head sat atop the brew for a short period of time. There were not many noteworthy smells and the taste was somewhat bland, yet pleasant at the same time. I'm not sure if I would buy this in a store if I saw it, but I wouldn't hesitate to order it on tap in a Belgian bar.

Pale blonde with one finger of white head, lots of lace left on the glass. Smell is malty and not particularly aromatic, lightly grassy, mild sazz hops as well. Taste is malty up front, touches of caramel throughout, mild hop profile, there is also a cardboard like taste that comes and goes and was more noticeable towards the end. Average feel for the style, med carbonation, light body and feel. This isn't bad for what it is, its pretty close to being stella or lowenbrau or anything similar, one was ok on a hot day sitting on a patio but i will take a pass on this next time.

Had this on tap at Fionn MacCool's. Waitress just said it was called Jupiler, so I'm assuming it is the standard one. Served in a branded glass. Pours a clear golden yellow colour with thin white head. Nice enough head retention, mild lacing. Smells pretty clean, some mild grassy hops and a bit grainy. Flavour has a hint of bitterness. This is a pretty nice lager on a hot day on a patio, so it hit the spot. Nothing worth seeking out, but I enjoyed it.

To begin with, I would like to say that this is not a proper tasting. I bought a few bottles of Jupiler for the evening because it was only 30c per bottle. I've just opened one and started sipping from it and surprisingly this beer is really good from a bottle. I've had it a couple times before but on-tap and it was terrible.
Because I'm drinking it from a bottle it is difficult to say anything about appearance and smell, but the rest of the features is extraordinarily nice for a cheap commercial beer. It is worth stressing that it has something from Belgian ales - sweetness and banana aftertaste. I will definitely buy a crate of Jupiler the next time instead of Grolsch, Heineken or Hertog Jan.

Lager number one in Belgium, without strong business and great flavor without much originality. Often mixed with syrups to reduce the taste unpleasant.
