Appearance: Cloudy amber, some head rings and overall not the prettiest beer.
Smell: apricots with some undertones of hops and I detected a hint of wet cardboard that led me to believe the beer might have been off.
Taste: Strong carbonation, decent hop and malt balance that began bitterly and finished sweet. The aftertaste was a powerful lingering astringency.
Overall: I really believe that my beer was off, or at least I hope it was.

On tap at Lucky Baldwin's in Pasadena, CA.
Pours a slightly murky yellow with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and grape juice aromas. Taste is much the same along with some yeast and spice flavors. There is a mild herbal hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that has a better taste than smell in my opinion.

Appearance: blonde, almost slightly cloudy. Small light frothy head ( I had a second beer at the same place that had a nice big head with medium bubbles up top).
Nose: Rather sweet, fruit (mostly) and yeast.
Taste: Hops with a tiny sweetness. The aftertaste is bitter and hoppy.
There was not a lot of lacing, which is something I would like out of a BIPA, and the aroma died down half way through the beer. I had to swirl to get it going again.
It does not taste like 9.5%, but I could feel it after a couple of these.
I really liked this beer (which was why I ordered a second), and would get it again.

On tap @ Urge in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
Pours a clear honey color w/ minimal head, no lacing. Swirling the glass brings up no carbonation or head.
Aroma is Belgian yeast, some citrusy hops. Overall aroma is a little muted.
Taste follows nose: Belgian yeast, pale malt, hops. Belgian yeast lends a slightly musty quality, a little spiciness. Mouthfeel is smooth as would be expected.
Overall Belgian IPAs are hit-or-miss and this one lacks the seamless marriage between Belgian and American styles that can be found in the best representations of the style.

A- Pours a clear gold color with a nice white head. Head has pretty solid retention and leaves some nice layered lacing.
S- Smell is fairly light. Picking up Belgian yeast, pepper, spices and very floral.
T- Follows the nose really well. Pretty complex overall. Just a bit too spicy for my liking. Almost perfume like as well.
M- Lighter side of medium in body and good amount of carbonation.
O- Intersting brew for sure just not my cup of tea.

Served on tap into a mushroom shaped tulip glass at the Winking Lizard for the Glass of the Month
A- Poured a bright golden color, pretty hazy with a three finger fluffy head that left some chunky lace
S- Big pungent Belgium yeast aroma, lots of clove, medicinal notes, and some metallic notes
T- Big medicinal notes and Belgium yeast, some clove and spice, lots of alcohol in the taste
M- Pretty syrupy, decent carbonation, big warming, and some alcohol burn
O- I did not detect any hop presence for a Belgian IPA named Hop It. Pretty big medicinal notes and alcohol presence. Pretty average beer.

Purchased in Albany, NY...Hated it in the Bottle...Tried on tap.
Poured as expected, nice golden with a thick head. Smelll was sweet with a strong bitter yet medicinal overtone.
Taste. Ok... Ouch. Tastes 100% like Nyquil, green death flavor. I mean, wow. I;ve yet had a beer as pungently medicinal as this. I wouldn't call it hops. To me it tastes like an odd mix of hop and nasty black licorice. To me, VERY unpleasing.
Wow, i'm somewhat shocked how much I hated this beer. I rarely pour beer out, but this one made the cut!

Beer is golden. Decently-sized white head, moderate to little retention. Lots of lacing.
Smell is very light. I get bready malt the most, surprisingly. The belgian yeast is noticeable as well.
As for taste, it seems more tripel than IPA to me. The hops are noticeable, however. Light fruit, Belgian yeast, and some bitterness throughout. Also some peppery spice and bready malt. Fairly dry for a Belgian.
Beer is overly carbonated, kind of irritating. Medium to full bodied- a good weight for the beer.
Good but not a great beer. Nothing particularly remarkable but still an enjoyable beer.

Smells strongly of Noble hops, I enjoy the difference between a hopped up belgian that has the subtle spice characteristics compared to the over the top citrus bombs brewed in the U.S.
On the nose I get a nice nuttiness, maybe a little mint, and some earthy hops. Quite a bit of malt to back it up.
Tastes like it smells, nice spicy dry earthy noble hop goodness with a solid malt backbone to balance everything out. I get a little bit of the belgian yeast character but not much. Finishes dry leaving me wanting more.
I love the mouthfeel, nice and oliy, coats every part of my tongue.

on tap at bier market in Toronto
Solid white head in tulip glass, golden yellow color and relatively clear. A little bit sweet in the smell, not picking up as much hops as expected from description. Taste is nice balance of hop, malt with ttraditional belgian characteristicsm which is a good thing. Surprised at high abv, would have never guessed.
This is a very solid beer in it's own right, just not overwhelming, could be unfair after having Leffe before.

A - Clear gold. Solid inch of thick foam.
S - Orange, tangerines. Stone fruit - peaches mostly, and some grass.
T - Lots of fruit and yeastiness up front. Some bitter orange as well. Fairly dry.
M - Hard carbonation and medium body.
D - A bit unbalanced. Not really a favorite. Flavour profile is too heavy for quaffing but worth trying.

On tap at The Stuffed Sandwich
Pours a very murky glowing gold. A nice 1 1/2" fluffy white head sits atop and leaves nice thick lacing throughout.
Smells of spicy grains, slight citrus, and some yeast.
Taste is of citrus and Belgian yeast. Slight spice and finished with a nice wet, hoppy feel. Very nice spin on a Belgian.
Mouthfeel is relatively creamy and a ton of carbonation. The carbonation makes it almost puckering at the end.
Very enjoyable! I'm really liking Belgian month at The Stuffed Sandwich. Cheers!

A: pours a clear golden orange with 3 fingers of white head that retains well with decent lacing.
S: sweet bubblegum and candy sugar at first followed by a spicy Belgian yeasty spiciness. Bananas and cloves as well. Very little hops.
T: Bitter pine flavors up front with some sweet fruit and Belgian yeasty spiciness underneath as well. Bitter finish as well.
M: light body and mid-high carbonation, this beer is nice and crisp.
O: not a bad beer, but I wish the hops were more pronounced other than in bitterness.

Cool orange and red color, reminds me of tropical fish for some reason. Good lacing. Deifnitely has that Belgian yeast and alcohol smell.
Strong citrus bite and alcohol, like gran marinier almost in this one, the hopping, is what happens when Belguim tries to do American hopping, its just not enough still.
Good mouthfeel and all, just it was missing some extra over the top hopping to make it awesome or worth the price.

I really enjoyed this one on tap earlier tonight at Amity Hall. One more stamp on the passport!
It's got a hazy golden hue to it - exceptional head that sticks around forever. Lots of carbonation to it, which boosts the feel while drinking it. The smell has floral notes, some fruit - citrus, and hops. Taste is mostly hops but that's tempered by the sweetness of the Belgian style. Probably the yeast. This is one I could down a bunch of.
I won't. Other things to do. Like write famous blog posts.

On tap at kraftworks.
A- comes to me with a small cap of off white head that settles quickly and leaves a few spots of lace.
S- honey and hops with a floral fruity touch.
T- big and bright grassy and herbal hops that slowly roll into some citrus and candy sweetness. The belgian yeast and the alcohol bounce off each other and really bring them out.
M- somewhere between medium and full bodied with a nice carb that pulls it all together.
D- its big and bold but never too much of anything I really enjoyed this and will look for it again.

A - Pours a yellowish orange, almost like honey. Clear bear with a two finger white head that left some very nice lacing.
S - Smells fruity and yeasty more like a sweet triple than anything else. Server told me it was very hoppy but I'm not getting that. Candied apples and pears.
T - Also tastes a like a triple, but with the mildest taste of hops. A bit of spice, just a little bit of citrus. Not bad, very sweet.
M - Smooth, under carbonated, medium bodied.
D - Got it down, sweet though, couldn't do a lot of these, as it just doesn't taste quite good enough. Not bad, not great.

This was the beer that got me into Belgians. Had this a while ago at Smokeless Joe's in Toronto, and then many time since. Reviewing this from on tap at Beer Bistro, blocks from the G20 craziness.
Pours a hazy golden orange with a nice white head, tons of lacing. Smell is lots of hops upfront, with the Belgian yeastiness coming through. Taste has some citrus and pine hop bitterness, but then it still has more of the aftertaste of a tripel. Incredibly delicious. Awesome carbonation level and dangerously drinkable at 9.5% alcohol..

I tried this beer on tap on May 7, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer was poured a beautiful translucent gold with a frothy white head about 1" thick. The aroma was sweet malt, hops, and some citrus. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt, grapefruity hops, and a spicy bitterness. A very good beer.

Reviewed from notes--
Poured into snifter
Straw colored pale gold with a white head and tons of lacing. Looks more like a clear blonde to me.
I smell the spicy yeast and some citrus kick.
Taste follows smell. Tastes like a Belgian IPA with that unmistakable yeast... Great citrusy hop note too.
Nice light body with a good airy carbonation feel. Refreshing crisp finish hides a 9.5% ABV quite well.

Poured a golden, light orange hue with an off white head. It left some nice web like lacing on the glass the entire time.
Smell was bready and with a nice amount of citrus hops.
Taste was a blend of bread and spice upfront with a nice hop bitterness in the finish. Definately a nice and smooth blend.
Mouthfeel was medium bodied and this was a crisp and refreshing brew. Drinkability was great. I could definately put down a couple of these on a hot summer day.

A: Pours a cloudy golden orange color. A two finger white head forms but recedes in a second. Light lace is left behind.
S: Up front is bitter grapefruit hops. Bread and biscuit yeast. Some buttery diacetyl as well.
T: Follows the nose. Bitter grapefruit and a bread/biscuit flavor. THey don't really mesh well for me. Light diacetyl as well.
M/D: A medium body and carbonation. This is soapy and oily. A bit of alcohol, and the odd mesh of flavors makes this harder to drink than I would like.
Not bad, but the beer just does not come together all that well for me. Probably not something I will revisit.

Nice Belgian IPA, starts with a more promising range and ends a bit flat but still is rather solid.
Presentation: 12 oz draft serving. Menu offers a fair description of the brew. Notes Alc. by Vol. (9.5%). Served in a tulip glass.
A - Deep gold to pale amber pour. Nice 1" frothy head, good retention, surface memory and lacing.
S - Hoppy nose, early touch of rich funk that fades quickly, citrus and yeast.
T - Citrus and grassy hop notes with a distinct Belgium yeast, again there is a shy and fading sense of funk, pity, it is greatly missed as the beer progresses... Sweet earthy sense alongside a malty touch in the finish.
M - Medium body with generous carbonation working well early on and fading a bit too quickly leaving it a bit short toward the end.
D - Works rather well and feels stimulating.
Notes: Nice take on a BIPA but while pleasing not one that really connects greatly with me. Worth the repeat but others feel richer on different ranges of the spectrum for this loosely tied style.

Served on draught in correct Urthel glassware, which is in itself a treat. Color is medium golden with a slight haze that makes it translucent. A good two fingers of fluffy white head make it picture perfect.
Aromas are appropriate for a beer labelled "hoppy blond ale," as the Belgian-esque character of this beer is as prevelant as the hop profile.
The palate is a great balance of fruity yeast and hops (probably aged). Finish is fairly dry, but balanced.
Overall I'm as impressed with this beer on draught as I was in bottle, draught is just much harder to find. Great beer.
