This is named after a song that sparked the idea to make this ale. Brown ales seem to be there, but not really there, do you know what I mean? Well that won't be the mistake with Wynona! Voodooed out this style and add more that's what we say. Hoppy and smooth hints of chocolate and tons of brown malt to let you know it's there. Try the brown, You'll be Happy You Did!!

16oz older can.

Om a pour straight down the middle of thr glass, 2 fingers of tan head form with some nice guinness like domage. Body is a crystal clear reddish light brown.

Aroma is nutty with some fruity English yeast notes. A touch of roast comes through.

Flavor is solid with the nutty roasted malts coming through very well. There is a molasses like sweetness from the malt as well, balanced by a light herbal hop note in the very back. An almost coffee like finish that gets richer and maltier.

Feel is easy drinking, but quite full and malty with a longer finish. A touch filling for the flavor profile, but not bad.

Overall this is a very solid English style brown, but not as unique as other brews I've had from here.

Could an homage to a Primus song be a bad thing? The inquiry begins with cracking open a pint can of the stuff. The contents pour easily into a clear Imperial pint glass, as there's virtually no head. But, the carbonation is good. So too is the sweet nutty and malty aroma. It emanates from a liquid dark caramel in color, much like a cola soda, perhaps even darker. Light across the tongue, there's still some zestiness because it's well carbonated. It's malty sweet, with just the right level of hops and roastedness to impart the necessary bitterness to balance things at the finish. Les should be proud.

Great malty, coco palate. 7.5% abv leaves a little zip on the back end. Fairly bitter finish. Very drinkable.

DATE: September 3, 2021... OCCASION: a prelude to fall tonight calls for something not yet a fest... GLASSWARE: Hobgoblin pint... pours a nearly opaque chestnut brown body bubbling at a city rush hour's pace, building an off-white, somewhat beige head that staunchly holds as a foam cake... appealing, in short... big, roasted malts evoke coffee, forest decay, plum, chocolate and rye bread... the hops are overpowered but present, with faint citrus and resin... something approaching syrup is there too, sweet but not vivid... this is a chewy beer, lasting and thick, not to be trifled with--somehow, like a Primus composition... its opening is slightly hoppy and active, while its mid-drink lingers... plum, chocolate, resin, syrup, toasted oats, roasted malts, and a slight booziness that doesn't ruin its upper-limit drinkability... browns should always be accessible, and this one opens it...arms wide... a dessert beer, a thinking beer that can be appreciated in fours... I hunted this one and had to go directly to the brewery--which is a picturesque property in its own right--and I enjoy this one every time I have it... its name may once have been an attempt at pop culture cash-in, but it now connects with an actress and artists who benefit from this beer's existence...

Bought a 4pck of this beer from the Erie, PA location whilst there with my beastie watching my son's hockey team play the Bighorn. It poured a clear deep mahogany amber with ecru head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had dark bread malt notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet yeastie malt base and subtle bitter grain hop highlights. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

This seems dark at first glance, but up close, and especially held up to the light, it's like a luminescently clear brown varnish. The tan head is creamy and level on nitro, but short, slowly settling to a thick collar leaving some fluid spots on the glass.

Very smooth, but not slick or too round, the full body delivers a roast flavor that in and of itself is also quite smooth, for lack of a better term, to the point that it's almost got a vanilla sort of expression. I even get an expression of chocolate pie, where the mildly toasted brown malt is more like the pie crust.

For a straight up brown ale, it's as though it's decadent. However, there are indeed the more traditional hints of coffee, as well as a sassafras tang, while additional notes of tobacco and raisin crop up as it warms.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to try what has turned out to be one of the best brown ales I've ever had, considering how many chances I've had at grabbing a pour or a bottle of this.

I love the artwork on this can. My second beer from this brewery, the Big Black Voodoo Daddy, was a solid RIS. I pulled the beer out of the fridge and served it in a mug. A lovely hiss emitted as I opened the can up. Pouring the beer, it created a two-fingered head. The head was a light tan color with fair retention; furthermore, it was airy and creamy. As the head dissipated, it left no lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 14, dark amber color with mahogany hues. The beer is clear and little carbonation visible. I would have like to see the head last a little longer. Overall the appearance of the beer is beautiful.

I detect caramel, toffee, biscuit, and toasted malt for my first impression. Nosing further, I smell a touch of floral, dankness, honey, brown sugar, and a hint of herbal. Working the beer over with my nose, I sense pharmaceutical, earthiness, and bread crust.

I first taste brown sugar, toasted bread crust, toffee, and caramel. Swirling the beer around in my mouth, I get floral, herbal, earthiness, cut grass, dankness, and nuttiness.

The mouthfeel is coating and a touch dry.

The body of the beer is medium, medium carbonation, and medium finish.

This beer is a pleasant brown ale with big flavors. The beer balances out and is easy on the palate. I could see myself sitting on a stool in the brewery consuming mass quantities of this beer. A must try brown ale.

Revisited January 26th, 2024

Thin head; dark and opaque brown body. Roasted grain smell, dark and alluring. Dark roasted grain flavor, brown sugar, moderate hop bitterness; light, earthy spiciness. Medium body; sticky mouthfeel.

Damn fine.

Nice reddish-brown body, clear; slow rising carbonation; thick and fluffy bone colored head. Fine toasted malt smell; roasted nuts; a bit of brown sugar. Nuts and toffee flavors; cocoa powder; mild bitterness; a touch of alcohol presence. Heavy body; smooth and velvety; some dryness offset with a mild overall sweetness.

This beer delivers some fine flavors and the mouthfeel is outstanding. It leans towards a slightly sweet and soft side of things with great all-around depth and balance.

From a bottle at home. Roasted toffee smell. Tastes like malted milk ball wrapped in dark chocolate, and a little coffee. I think I'm the only one who tastes plumbs. Doesn't taste imperial, and I'm grateful. I don't know another beer that tastes like this, and I think that was their goal.

12 oz bottle poured heavily into my libbey's porter glass. 08041934B21732 marked on bottom of bottle.

Appearance- a slight transparent brown with a hint of red. off white tannish head that dissipates quickly.

Aroma- semi burnt caramel

Taste- like the aroma with some earthy hops. alittle biscuit. has a super light bubblegum hint coming from the yeast. alcohol is well hidden; same with the bitterness.

Mouthfeel- a solid medium body with a slight slickness.

Drinkability- easily going to crush the four pack.

Overall- for the style this brew is up there even tho there's not much out there to compare with. the bubblegum, yeasty flavor reminds me of harpoon's Oktoberfest. would grab if you're in the mood for a malty/ semi-caramel with some earthy hops beer.
