Notes:
This Is our Imperial Stout that we age in conditioning tanks with oak staves. This adds a classic character of old world aging with out the Bourbon tones. This black ale is about 12% alc. and very rich in roasted and chocolate malt tones. Velvety smooth and able to be aged for years.

22oz bottle traded to me from G311. thanks vince! i didnt expect to land one of these, let alone a few! drank from my stone RIS snifter.
A- this pours out of the bottle looking the color of a cola. opaque body. a small coffee colored head forms on top and vanishes before my eyes. little to no lacing left behind, but it is a pretty big beer. forgiven....
S- the first thing i pick up in the nose is roasted malts. some milk and dark chocolate are up next. light vanilla...must be from the oak staves? coffee at the end. a little bit of alcohol sneaks through, but much less than youd expect in something this large.
T- the taste starts out with some dark roasted malt like i could smell. very strong. after that i pick up on plenty of chocolate. both milk and dark. the vanilla from the mock barrel aging plays very well with the chocolate. coffee/espresso at the end. once again, just a little bit of alcohol shines through.
M- the body is a little on the light side. were it thicker....man, this would be on another level. moderate warming from the otherwise well hidden booze. a nice low level of carbonation.
O- very enjoyable. im told this sample was fresh, i cant wait to check back in in a couple of years. thanks again for sending this to me Vince, its worth the hype. check it out.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- Black with a small tan head.
S- Roasted malts, dark chocolate, some coffee, piney hops really stand out, licorice, oak.
T- Chocolate, caramel malts, coffee, some licorice, piney hops, charred oak, some smoke, touch of alcohol. Well balanced.
M- Smooth, full body, some creaminess.
O- A great stout that is really easy to drink for 12% ABV. Nice complexity with good balance, very enjoyable. Would love to have this again.

Pitch black inky body with a nice 1/2" of sandy colored head.
The smell has a lot of chocolate malt. I also pick up black licorice and a piney hop and a little bit of cola.
The flavor is very vivid and robust. Heavy with the chocolate with supporting flavors of anise, wood, and piney/earthy hops. There's also a nice taste of coffee.
Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Low carbonation lends to the full and creamy body.
This was a fantastic stout. It has incredible depth in the flavor. The 12.5% is noticeable but it's still smooth for such a big beer.
