Notes:
Our Gran Met (Grand Master) is an Ale made from our Propriatery yeast from a small brewery in Belgium. We use Cane and Beet sugar, along with German Pilsner Malt to create the unique flavor of this age old style. We also use a unique fermentation process of slowly adding the sugars to the fermentation during fermentation. This allows the yeast to more slowly ferment the beer without overloading the yeast. This process allows for a more clean, tight flavor profile.

Gotta show some love for the Grandmaster Flash. Gran met is a great beer. Poured from the bomber sized bottle into my mug at the Blue Canoe Brewery. This beer pours with very small head. It tastes like a good tripel. The flavor is pretty dry, some slight sweetness. No real hops mostly yeast. Some slight fruitness in the finish.

Pours a light hazy lemony honey gold, white head dissipates to a film quickly but retains there.

Smells of mild tart apple fruitiness and sweet clover honey.

Honey sweet with mild apple fruitiness and a slight orange fruity tinge. Sugary in a way.

Medium to full body with tingly carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

This is a strangely sweet trippel; I'm used to this being a drier, grassier type of brew. It hides its strength very well. Overall, it's an interesting and different approach to a trippel, and I applaud that, but I prefer a more classical approach to this style personally and would probably stick to something else when in the mood for a trip. However, I do think this beer is worth a try for fans of the style who might be interested in a sweeter version of a trip and it's by no means a bad beer.

I picked this one up at a nice beer store in Monroeville, PA.

Served in a Mad Elf tulip.

A: Fairly light, orange-yellow color, with about a 1.5 finger head that clung to the glass like Spider-Man.

S: I got "Flinstone Vitamin" upfront, along with a good bit of Belgian funk, and quite a bit of candi sugar.

T: First of all, Tripels are my favorite Belgian style. That said, this has almost an unfresh flavor to it. Some staleness actually. Is that what the brewer intended and maybe it's not my cup of tea? I will say this though, I kinda dug the rye cracker quality at the end.

M: Sweet, and very date-like, with a thick sugariness that, if that was the brewer's goal, he/she succeeded. The lacing left on the glass was splotchy.

O: I'm on the fence with this one. I don't this this was poorly crafted at all. More like, I have vision in my mind of the perfect Tripel, and this one doesn't follow that mold. Still.... not bad.
