A 12oz snifter at the Underground. This is apparently the existant Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, but now brewed at a different location, namely the Fanø Bryghus in Denmark.
This beer appears a solid black abyss, with no discernible highlights, and one finger of tightly foamy, creamy chocolate milk head, which leaves some mountain top glacier/snowcap lace around the glass as it evenly bleeds away.
It smells of lightly roasted chocolate malt, earthy, bitter coffee, wet ash, and a creamy graininess. The taste is strong and yet silky caramel chocolate malt, cafe au lait, toffee suckers, somewhat bitter coffee grounds, more sodden, smokey ash, a touch of indistinct citrus fruitiness, and a softly metallic flintiness.
The carbonation is rather laid back, the body pretty much full in weight, solid, dense, mildly unctuous, and exceedingly smooth. It finishes on the sweet side - lilting chocolate-laced coffee, middling orchard fruit, and toffee pudding well overshadowing the mildly ashy, earthy hops.
A splendid imperial stout, maybe more old-world in style than what I've listed it as here. Anyways, the shift in production origins are duly reflected, as the hops seem so much more serene and integrated. Other than that, this is still one mother of an easy drinking/sipping affair, the 22-proof booze nowhere to be seen, and full, rounded flavour beckoning beyond.
