A combination of amber and gold with a huge head into my glass. I like that it's a collaboration between Mikkeller and Tiger Baby.

Old-school pine tar blast upfront with a touch of buttery malt underneath. Smells like an APA on steroids. An IPA?

Citrus notes come through upfront. It's brewed with mango and passionfruit. The mango is more apparent and works well with the hops used.

Lingering mango and passionfruit make up the mouthfeel. Alcohol heat is there too.

Very nice. I would prefer it if the alcohol level was dialed down. However, if you age it, you will probably taste more of the mango and passionfruit and less of the alcohol itself.

a - poured a two-fingers thick fluffy, light tan head into a tulip glass that left a thin ring and sheeting throughout. the body was an orange-amber color.
s - big citrus nose with passion fruit coming through.
t - big citrus flavors again with some breadiness and grain coming through to balance it out.
m - bubbly and crisp.
o - very pleasant and a big APA i'd go to again.

I have it in good faith that no actual baby tigers were harmed in the making of this pale ale. But for the mangoes and passion fruit- I feel that it is was a blood bath!

The hyper pale ale pours with a density and richness in color that's exorbitant for standard pale ales. But pushing upwards of eight percent, the added malt gives the beer more visual weight as well. Deep amber and copper colors come together for a rather rusty haze. A loosely knit head of ivory foam tops the beer with randomness, interspersed lace, and reluctant staying power.

The balance of fruit and malt come together in a very pale ale kind of way. But the aromas are all heightened to nearly imperial status. Caramel, light toast and biscuit form the first half of the scent while citrus and tropical fruits bring up the rear. Mangoes and passion fruit are more obvious tones of tropical influence but the citrus is all hops.

The beer's delicious taste is equal to its aromas, except more real. The same balance of toasted and caramelized to tropical and citrus holds true. However, the sweetness of caramel and bread crust saturate the front of the mouth while the citrus hop impressions and mango, passion fruit additions give a riper and juicier sweetness. Fruit acidity offers just as much of a balance in finish as do the hop bitterness. Still, the beer balances evenly from early palate 'til aftertaste with tremendous consistency.

Medium, medium, and more medium- this pale ale starts just as creamy and dry as it finishes. Surprisingly for a heightened pale ale, the beer doesn't feel fuller than it does. Creamy carbonation and moderate residual sweetness provides a pleasant upstart that develops into an extended finish of soft sweetness, mild bitterness, alcohol warmth and light fruit acidity.

Tiger Baby is a very pleasant pale ale of high proportions. Though there's really no flaws, there's not a ton to celebrate above the normal prescriptions of pale ales. It's simply a nice and effortless session on all fronts.

A - Hazy copper-orange with a finger of frothy, slightly off-white head. Fades normal.

S - Grapefruit, citrus, pine hops, mango and passionfruit, caramel and bready malts, lemon zest.

T - Grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, grassy hops, some lightly resiny bitterness, passionfruit and mango, sweet caramel and bready malts, and some lemon zest.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a sweet, dry, and lightly bitter finish.

D - Nice fruity pale ale. Good hop and malt balance.

330ml bottle at Beer Revolution 24/9/12 into tulip

A hazed dark orange with lots of slow bubbles feeding a thumbs width of cream colored foam that leaves a few chunks of lace

S VERY tropical nose, grapefruit, passion fruit, guava and mango with a little candied pineapple, has a little Sauv Blanc cat tinkle thing going on that I associate with Citra or Nelson Sauvin, but who knows? Sounds bad but works very well

T some lemon rind and slightly sweet and sour, still good with the same tropical notes from the nose but its lacking the intensity

M a little left behind in the mouth and creamy from the bubbles almost to the point of foam but it stops short, nice tropical notes linger

O hits the spot and sinks like a ship, smells awesome and I have little to complain about in other areas

I didn’t know what to expect and I wasn’t expecting a fruit beer but it was a pleasant surprise. I could drink a few of these but I’ll look for them in the liquor store because 9$ at Beer Revolution is a little steep

Nose shows heavy tropical fruit, but seemingly more from hops than actual fruit, with an accompanying grapefruit and pine character.
The fruit isn't evident as a flavour, focussing more on pine, grapefruit and some grainy malt.
Carbonation is too high.

S: Intense, mesmerizing guava, pineappple, lime and grapefruit that is well integrated with a hefty dose of caramel malt. Fruit flavors are very refined, multi-dimensional, and not out of balance. Hints of mango and the fruit character has serious depth with pleasant notes of pit as well as fruit skin. Herbal hop character is well represented and works well.

T: Fairly heavy maltiness hits hard at first, but is just slightly sweet. Has a nice, nuanced red fruit/toffee malt character that stays subtle and doesn’t overwhelm. The middle is balanced, nicely sweet and bitter. Lots of fresh grapefruit, hints of fresh herbs, lemon and lime. Fresh, lively, and refreshing. A caramel, brown sugar malty foundation just below the surface holding everything together. Has a hint of dry, fruit skin astringency but not much. Grapefruit and lime pop in the finish which has a nice, dry herbal note as it lingers for a lengthy time. Less bitter than most APAs, but I'm ok with that. Its still an APA and works better this way with the fruit.

Notes: The beer has a lot of complex fruit notes but its not overly 'fruity'. Its refined and constrained and not overwhelming. Very interesting brew, better than I anticipated and I love the exotic fruit notes.

A - Beautiful red auburn tangerine body. Foamy, pure white head with killer retention and lace.

S - Softly herbal, green mango, papaya.

T - Bright carbonation gives way to a deep, green bitterness. Complex, dry fruit center of mango, tart white peach, and white grape. Dry, slightly sour, plant stem and grape skin finish.

M - Medium/light frame with great carbonation.

O - Refreshingly dry with a great flavor profile.

330ml bottle. A more appropriate 5% ABV on this batch. "Melancholic pop songs"? What, Danish hipsters? Gag.

This beer pours a mildly hazy golden amber hue, with two fingers of foamy, bubbly dirty white head, which still leaves some nice Swiss cheese lace around the glass as it rashly recedes.

It smells of fruity caramel malt - mushy pineapple, guava, under ripe mango, and some green leafy hops. The taste is more tropical fruitiness, the musty mango joined by some subtle blood orange and aged kiwi, all over a softly crackery, grainy, and weakly caramelized malt, with a waft of tamely bitter leafy, musty hops.

The carbonation is soft, but not inert, still going about its job gamely, the body a middling medium weight, with the pithy fruitiness take some wind out of the smoothness sails. It finishes off-dry, and all fruit, the malt wondering why its tail is still between its legs, and the seemingly out-sourced bittering hops continuing to earn their measly paycheck.

A decent APA, with a huge fruit uptick - if ya like the exotic-ish fruitiness, this should be right up your alley, even if it kind of overshadows anything else plying its trade here.

cloudy-opaque orange-straw with a caramely head; thick and sticky. lacing is outta this world- all over the glass, puffy. Constant and evenly-spread carbonation- fast, tiny bubbles.

Orange, orange peel, mango, and sweet hops in the nose.

Very resinous hop taste, incredibly drinkable and light for 8% ABV; a real juicy and easy leave with hardly any bitterness.

Mouthfeel is impressive in that this beer could be mistaken for a ~5% pale, while it is infact a pretty burly PA.

The beer pours a rich looking amber with half an inch of a creamy, off-white head that fades quickly. The nose is quite bitter with big notes of tropical fruit and alcohol. It has a surprisingly hoppy aroma despite the fruit addition, but this is not uncharacteristic of the style. The fruit is far more pronounced in the taste (compared to the nose) and even more so when the beer is given a chance to warm. There is a slight acidity from the fruits giving this beer an interestingly dry mouthfeel. The body is rich, but there is plenty of carbonation to make it refreshing as expected when drinking an APA. The aftertaste is slightly tart, bitter, sweet, and semi-dry...at the same time. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and also mikkeller's take on an APA that incorporates some of the actual fruits which many attribute to the various hop profiles seen in APAs today.
And surprisingly this beer is pretty well priced!

Wow, an amazing pale ale brewed with unusual fruit! Poured at a good temperature with a colossal, cream-colored, foamy, frothy, thick head that slowly settles and some lace. Color is a not quite clear, dark amber with loads of bubble trails. Aroma is a very fragrant hop, fruit, grass, malt, caramel. Flavor's like nose, carbonic tang and passion fruit up front, with hop, mango, some sweet and bitter after. Body is great; ditto carbonation. Finish is like flavor, fairly long, great burps, and I sure wish I had more than this one bottle. Superior pale ale!

Pours a semi-hazy copper color with a medium size creamy colored head that leaves minimal lacing.

Aromas begin quite fruity from both the fruit additions and the hops. Mango, pineapple, citrus just to name a few. As it warms I get more of the pleasant floral hops and passion fruit sweetness. Decent pale malt backbone as well.

The tastes follow the nose with the passion fruit and light citrus fruit and hops flavors opening up. Mango and more bright citrus fruits emerge as well. Not particularly bitter but very balanced and drinkable for an 8% ABV beer; probably too drinkable to be honest.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation for the sytle. Finish is fruity, slightly creamy/sweet but also pleasantly dry. Really balanced I guess is the best way to put it.

Overall I really enjoyed this beer; I can't say I agree with calling a beer an American Pale Ale when it is 8% ABV but it really kind of is. Not too bitter or hoppy. The fruit additions balance out the hops nicely and make for a super dangerously drinkable beer.

Big thanks goes out to my doppelganger for sharing this one sitting by the pool in the recent 100+ °F weather! Served from bottle into a shaker. Poured a slightly hazy red-orange with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, passion fruit, spices, mango, fruit hop, and very subtle citrus. The flavor was of sweet malt, mango, passion fruit, and fruit hop. It had a light feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a fairly good brew. I really like how the fruit in this one played a major role. This made it quite refreshing for an extremely hot day out in the sun while not being too invasive on the palate while enjoying it. A well done brew by Mikkeller that I wouldn't mind having again someday.

750ml bottle purchased from Berkeley Bowl in Berkeley, CA.

Pours a very hazed, almost opaque orange-gold colour, with a solid and relatively fine just off-white head. Lacing is patchy, but very fine and intricate where it forms. Solid body, in fact surprisingly so when tilted. Looks good.

Nose is big and fruity, although it's hard to tell what comes from hops and what comes from the added fruit. Passionfruit certainly gets lost and confused with a bright, acidic and heady, almost spicily intoxicating hop fragrance, but the mango seeps in as a broad sweetness across the entire nose. Ooh. It's a lovely aroma.

Taste is light and clean, with a noticeable hop presence that never feels unbalanced. Although the malt character is very neutral, it has enough heft to survive and balance the beer. The fruit again gets masked somewhat on the palate—either it mingles with a deep fine sweetness, or into the sharp, zingy, fruity hops. I feel like it's well-used nonetheless.

Feel is long but smooth. It works really well.

Overall, really great work, Messrs. Mikkeller. Always a pleasure trying something new from these guys, and they've turned what seemed like an interesting experiment on the bottle, into a thoroughly drinkable and approachable beer.

Pours a hazy orange-ish color with a light tan head. In the aroma, citrus notes of island fruit. In the taste, sweet to dry fruitiness and citrus, especially mango. A small fruit bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small citrus fruit skin in the aftertaste. Big fruity presence, almost chardonnay like, quite superb!

Fresh 750 ml from Lakeview Liquors, Chicago. Very tasty ale that is understated orange citrus hoppy, with mango and passionfruit front and center, including the smell. Softer carbonation, something like a cask ale. Not like any beer, and not a juice. Very drinkable. No head, slightly orange.

Not sure if I understand the date code, but this may be from Nov 2011, 6 months ago.

A - Somewhat cloudy medium orange. Modest head that dissipates first to a loose diffuse thing of big bubbles and down to a film in a couple minutes.

S - Wonderful perfumy sweet tropical fruit/mango and bittery hop smell come together to form a smell that reminds me of honeysuckle. Later in the glass I get a low level malt.

T - Tastes really nice but I think smells even better. I get the passion fruit on the exhale after swallowing. Zero booze. There's a modest hop presence that's more feel/dryness than taste, but a moderate bitter tang is left behind in the aftertaste. There's a little citrus tartness leftover too.

M - Light and carbonatey tingly. Very refreshing.

O - A subtle and wonderful combination of flavors and sensations. What a winner for late spring early summer outside and sunny. Mine may be old enough that I don't get as strong a hop presence as I would have fresh, not sure, but I don't care. I like it like it is. If I could change it, maybe I'd want a little more ass on it, but that could interfere with how refreshing it is so maybe not.

A clear amber brew, an off-white rather small head, little lacing but good curtains.

The smell has sweet passion fruit, tons of it, tropical fruits in general, nettles and grass.

The taste starts with surprisingly unsweet, then a sourness that is not entirely pleasant, old lime juice, grape-fruit seed and peel bitterness.

Little carbonation, thin body, a watery feeling, very dry finish.

Had expected more from Mikkel, but even the sun has spots.

Mikkeller : Tiger Baby : open windows open hills

Pours a deep gold bordering on orange. Head retention is OK with some lacing. Aroma is quite fruity and hop laden, with bright citrus, mango and pine aromas. In the taste, solidly bitter upfront with some tropical fruit flavour going on (mango, pineapple). Very nice bitter, and if served cold the mango and passionfruit are really down played. As the beer warms up, more of the added fruit flavors come in, with a mild passion fruit sweetness and more tropical notes. Just a touch of brett lending a soft funk. Alcohol is well masked. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and semi dry. Overall, a fine pale ale and nice hop character.

A: poured a pale golden yellow in color with a finger of fizzy white head and left some good lacing sticking to the glass.

S: plenty of fruit was present on the nose such as citrus, passion fruit, some hoppiness with a slight funky aroma a little grapefruit coming through as well, and hints of herbs.

T: the citrus was definitely there on the flavor alongside passion fruit, some tart notes, hoppy bretty character with dry grapfruit qualities and a touch of herbs.

M: the brew was medium in body with a good amount of carbonation which had a citrusy, mild fruity, bretty, tart, and slight dry finish.

O: it was a decent brew all around but was not impresssed cnsidering all the hype it had.

A: Hazy pale copper. The head is fizzy with large bubbles. Quite a low retention. Could look more appealing.

S: Smell is nice, with lots of hoppy fruity notes, citruses, litchi, tropical fruits.

T: Fruity also, with citruses, mango, passion fruit. Fresh floral hoppiness. Light bitterness on the finish.

M: Light bodied, with a good carbonation. Very refreshing. Undetectable alcohol.

O: A very good pale ale, very easy to drink, with nice floral, fruity notes. Perfectly fits with today's nice spring weather.

Aroma is nice and fruity, the brew smells mostly like mango, along with some citrusy hops (tropical fruit, grapefruit), honey and sweet malt. It tastes like mango, citrusy and floral hops, and a bit of bready malt. There's also a lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a little creamy and has a good amount of carbonation. I think it's a solid brew overall. $11.99 a bottle.

A- One finger white-clear head. Mediocre retention. No lacing to speak of. Only moderate clarity, not very impressive appearance.

S- Hoppiness, piney and warm. Nice smell. Some honey and earthy sweetness.

T- Hoppy, but a very honeyed sweetness with distinct deeper flavors. Has layered hops, both floral and spicy; finishes very thin in flavor.

M- Thin, but substantial.

O- Very flavorful, not wonderful though. I'd buy it again. Or at least share it again.

1 pint 9.4 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a Port Brewing taster glass. Reviewed live. Expectations are high given the brewery. Acquired at Wally's Wine in Westwood, California.

Served refrigerator cold and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a one finger head of no real cream, okay thickness, and fairly bad retention. Colour is a semitransparent copper. No yeast particles are visible.

Sm: Pleasant floral hops and passion fruit esters. A mild to moderate strength aroma. Certainly inviting.

T: Pleasantly floral and estery, with passion fruit and light citrusy notes. No alcohol comes through. Mango is present when I look for it. Very fruity and fresh. Very well balanced and built. I like the bright fruits. Quite refreshing and enjoyable. Has a tropical feel to an extent. Not particularly complex or subtle, but it doesn't need to be to satisfy what it's going for.

Mf: Smooth and wet, with enough coarseness to bring out the flavours. Thick enough. Adequately carbonated without being overly so.

Dr: Very drinkable, especially for the high ABV. I'd get it again, preferably on draught. Hides its ABV incredibly well. A lovely pale ale. A bit pricey, but quite nice. Fans of the style will love it.

It drank just fine out of my Port Brewing taster glass. Would pair well with any food.
