Pours deep amber with a fading head.
Nose shows doughy yeast, wheat, golden syrup and cloves. The doughy yeast note is very prominent.
Similar flavour, more full-on doughy characters. Quite sweet, sugary almost. Noticeable alcohol in the finish.
Carbonation seems a little excessive, perfectly syrupy body though.
Not exactly a complex beer. The doughy character is annoyingly distracting.

330ml bottle 8,5% Abv.
Served lightly chilled in an over sized wine glass.
BB: 20/10/2013

Appearance: Mikkeller Weizenbock pours a lightly clouded, dark orange colour. A rough pour yields a massive cream coloured head that displays great retention and leaves beautiful patterns of lace as it slowly recedes.

Smell: Hmmm, the nose is actually quite disappointing - lacking in both strength and complexity.
The initial nose displays a fair amount of sweet citrus character (orange and tangerine), along with malted wheat and some stone fruits. Warming yields a distinct banana note, spicy yeast, a light caramel note, an odd herbal note and some alcohol.

Taste: As with the nose, this tastes like an average weissbier with an alcoholic kick. Notes include: Wheat, overripe stone fruits, overripe banana, earthy yeast, a bready note, cloves and a hint of citrus. The alcohol coverage is pretty average - you certainly taste the 8,5%.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied (or maybe just over), but sadly way over carbonated and pretty harsh (very lager like).

Overall: A disappointingly average beer from Mikkeller, I would not have this again.

A: Pours a bloody, orange, brown mix. Great looking slightly off white head.
S: Very complex. All kinds a bread and wheat but spliced nicely with what seems to be dark fruit like that of a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. Perhaps some slight citrus notes. Like where this going.
T: Again, nice complexity. Follows the nose closely, but the sweetness of the mallt and wheat is cut nicely by a robust booze flavor. At the middle, the dark fruit plays well into a slighty hoppy finish.
M: medium carbonation with a body that is light to medium but drinks heavier due to the boozy. Slick at first, but dry, clean finish.
O: What a fine effort and a rare one at that. Mikkeller impresses again. I love the independent take on the style. More boozy and fruity that your normal weizenbock, but it works. Try it.

A - Golden amber, one finger white head, light lacing.

S - Sweet, wheat, dark fruits, yeast.

T - Bready, malty, wheat, fruity, sugar, light yeast.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, lingering breadiness.

O - Mikkeller is, in my opinion, the king of barrel aging and imperial stouts, but this lighter wheat beer is very enjoyable!
