Picked this up at De HopDuvel in Gent. Slightly hazy yellow-orange pour with nice two finger head with good retention and lacing. Awesome floral, citrusy nose loaded with tangerine and apricot along with hints of grapefruit and caramel and just a touch of white pepper. The taste mirrors the nose with the bright citrus flavors at the forefront, paired quite well with the sticky resin of the hops. A solid sweet caramel malt backbone balances it all out nicely. The mouthfeel is crisp and bold with a tangy, oily, bitter hop finish. This is definitely one of the more fresh tasting IPA's I've had from Mikkeller. Doesn't quite stand up to the Hop Burn Low I had on tap at the Mikkeller Bar last month, but still a solid offering.

bigtime IBUs in an ipa that is good, but maybe not quite up to some of the others he makes. this one was just under 7 bucks for an 11.2oz. bottle. pours hazy pale yellow in color, straw shade, with a lively and patchy white whispy head. the nose is really hoppy, oily to the point where it almost smells more sweet than bitter, and as per usual mikkeller, quite yeasty for an ipa, like breakfast biscuits on the malt. flavor is all hops up front and in the back. piney and sappy up front, bitter and concentrated in the finish. in the middle is a very light grain presence, maybe some wheat in here, and a bright belgian yeast with lots of pep. excellent carbonation and a bigger than medium body, and there is indeed a hop burn to this. its almost caustic to smell aggressively, and just as intense to hold in the mouth for a few seconds before swallowing. not sure how this effect is achieved, but this beer is as advertised for sure. i thought it wasnt as balanced or drinkable as some of mikkellers other ipas, but like everything he makes, it was an experience.

T - Grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, grassy, and lightly spicy malt, some resiny bitterness, sweet caramel and biscuit malts, lemon and orange zest, and some booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a dry, bitter, and warming finish.

Finally pulled the trigger on this spendy little 350 ml
Poured very slow , as not to disturb the chunks of floaters at the bottom of the bottle.
A ~ wonderful - this is how I like my beer to look - hazy muddled burnt orange.
Nice head that slowly regressed, leaving nice lacing
S ~ I could probably guess Mikeller, if blindfolded - just their signature aroma; sweet citrus, malty yeast, caramel & slight booze.
T ~ I don't know how they do it - this is another solid beer from Mikeller ( I just wish they could come down a little on $$$) Sweet orange hops with boozy malt back. Some resiny quality toward the finish.
M ~ Medium to MH mouth-feel, very nice actually.
O ~ This is a very nice beer. I know this must've been sitting around for a while - I wonder if a little age might've actually helped this one, because it's fantastic.
I'm really starting to love Mikeller - haven't found one that I didn't enjoy (a lot).

Hazy golden amber colour with a small, white head. Fair head retention.
Rich malt aroma backed up with a ton of citrus. This stuff is dank.
Malty sweet fading into a citrussy, slightly tropical hop flavour. Lots of bitterness. A big, hoppy beer. Possibly a little one-dimensional.
Medium body with moderate carbonation. Quite smooth.
A lovely DIPA. Big malt and hop flavour.

Aroma: Sticky caramel orange caramel sweetness. Esters are prominent and give it a boozy note.
Appearance: Cloudy amber pour with floaties and golden edging. A thick sudsy white batter-like head.
Flavor: Orange juice-like pithy hop notes up front. Background caramel sweetness. Balance is decidedly bitter. Finish is clean and dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, oily, medium carbonation. Slight alcohol burn.
Overall impression: A sipper to be savored. Had a liqueur-like quality to be savored in a snifter.

Enjoyed at a Mikkeller tap takeover at the Beer Revolution in Calgary (from notes)
A - hazy golden orange, one finger of light tan head that looked fairly creamy and held it own, left solid lacing
S - floral and grassy with some grapefruit, with biscuit and brown sugar in the background with faint booziness
T - toffee and bread maltiness are quickly overtaken by hop flavours of grapefruit, fresh cut grass, and pine resin, ending with a sweet-heat boozy kick
M - leaning on the heavier side of medium, fairly creamy start with a resiny character, dry's out somewhat with the alcohol heat and hops
O - it a big beast for sure, somewhat surprised at the heartiness of it for a high octane DIPA, but it ends up being pretty well balanced for the style

Dark copper, hazy pour, yeast floating in the bottom. Two finger, snow white head, lacing is decent.
Floral hops, slight grapefruit, typical Mikkeller alcohol aroma. Slight biscuit. There is a little dandelion.
Bright grapefruit, bitter pine, dandelion and slight alcohol, caramel. There is a bit of burn in the finish.
Medium body, decent carbonation, sticky on the lips.

L- Hazy amber color topped with a thick off white head. The head fades slowly to a cap and leaves lots of lace on the glass.
S- Sweet pineapple, grapefruit, and mango notes dominate the aroma.
T- Lots of hop notes right away, grapefruit first, then sweet pineapple, caramel malt makes an appearance at the middle, a note of orange peel, and a finish that returns to the grapefruit bitterness with a bit of a burn to it. Lots of complex layers to the hops flavors in this, but well balanced, not just a complete wash of bitterness.
F- A bit more than medium in body and a little less than medium in carbonation. A little oily and sticky at the finish, not unpleasant but noticeable.
O- It is aptly named, there is a fair amount of burn to this and 10.0% ABV makes it a sipper too. Not a beer for the hop shy, but the hop fan will like all of the different hop notes going on in this.
