12oz bottle into Duvel artist tulip

A - thick frothy quickly vanishing off white head. Deep orange/amber in color and hazy.

S - amalgamation of hops with the more pronounce citrus ones prevailing. Good nose but nowhere near as strong as I expected/hoped for.

T - unlike the nose, the piney essence hops come thru on the palate. Quite an interesting blend but I can't help feel that the 19 varieties conflict more than the compliment. The hop presence could linger longer too.

M - highly carbonated and medium in body. Aftertaste is surprisingly mild. Carbonation gets in the way abit too.

O - I'm usually all in or out on Mikkeller beers, but this one buts me more on the fence. I applaud the effort and enjoyed the final product but it just didn't meet my expectations. For a standard IPA it's above average, but when price and availability are factored in, the are far better for less searching and less $$$. Worth trying once though.

Good Spirit Co, Glasgow (330ml, £4):
Orange amber with a two fingers tall, bubbly head that is a slightly off-white colour and holds very well and leaves a great lacing too.

A balanced citrus and grapefruit aroma with light pine hops and floral notes. There is a light grassy hops aroma along with some tropical fruits and caramel.

Floral and pine hops with a light amount of bitterness, some good citrus and tropical fruit flavours such as peach, grapefruit and some passion fruit. Again a very nice blend that goes down great.

Smooth with a light citrus tang and a touch of bitterness, there is light medium carbonation and a mild bitter mouthfeel to this one. The beer is quite refreshing and goes down great with good balance.

An excellent and perfectly balanced beer with all the flavours working well together and complimenting each other perfectly. A very refreshing with a nice, fruity and light bitter taste that goes down incredibly easily.

April 16th, 2013.

It pours a rusty orange with two fingers of white head.

The nose is an interesting mix of sweet biscuity malt and flowery hops with a touch of grass and citrus.

On the palate it's citrus-y, flowery, and a bit piney upfront. In the mid-palate the hops fly around and its hard to place a finger on any one flavor; pine, hop resins, grass, citrus, lychees and spice are some of the hop flavors that are present. There's a lot going on but it's so well directed. It's sort of predictable upfront with citrus, pine and some floral elements but then a huge mix of hop flavors come in behind. It finishes bitter (but not overly so) with a sweet malt presence and spicy yeast.

The mouthfeel is medium with a healthy carbonation.

Overall this is an interesting IPA. A great effort by Mikkel; the blend of the single hopped IPAs is excellent and it makes for a truly unique brew. Definitely worth the price of admission and if you can find it buy it!

11.2 fl oz bottle, although the label has neglected to specify. No bottling information present, except for the list of 19 different hops used to brew this beer. The cap says 9081211. I haven't tried any of the Mikkeller single hop series beers, so I guess to start with the entire amalgamation is as good a place as any.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours three fingers of luscious beige colored head with excellent retention, on top of a dark orange ruby colored body. Thick rings of lacing on the way down.

S - Hard to get much behind this giant lingering head, but what I do smell is very light citrus grapefruit hops, and a bready biscuit / caramelized malt scent. Does not smell like the hop bomb you would imagine.

T - Surprisingly smooth and subtle, with a lot of little complexities to it. Biscuity and malty, yeasty and bretty tasting even. There are a few hops on this list that I've never even heard of before. Nothing is over-done. This beer is not extremely bitter or spicy. Tastes very well balanced, which must be a feat considering the 19 different hop varieties used.

M - Feel is of hop resins. Sticky green apple skin sweetness lingers.

Overall, it is light to medium bodied, easy on the carbonation, and highly palatable / drinkable at a decent 6.80% abv, you could down several of these easily and be feeling pretty good. If Mikkeller ever did consider doing a year round 6 pack style beer, *this* is the one it should be, in my opinion. In all, I think they nailed this creation pretty well. If it wasn't so damn expensive I would definitely considering buying more. Lots more.

you've just got to hand it to mikkeller for going above and beyond on so many of their beers. not only in terms of creativity, but also execution, and this one is just exceptional. its a blend of all or most of the single hop series in different proportions, and the end result is magic. hazy light amber pour with two inches of lasting foam. the nose is super complex, all the oily bitterness of the different singles, but with a certain fruity vibe from all of them in combination. the flavor also has a lot happening, I can pick out the centennial for sure, and some citrusy notes from some of the others. the yeast that's been such a contributor to this series is also here again, dutifully performing its usual task. really bitter aftertaste, more so than any of the others that I can remember. crazy carbonation, really powerful, and the same fuller medium body that has typified this series. being a big mikkeller fan, and a lover of the single hop series, this beer has been a holy grail for me, one of my most wanted to try beers out there, and thanks to a close friend traveling through the Midwest, I was able to acquire one. not sure how fresh it was, not sure what he paid for it, but I have no complaints. this is special stuff. sort of a fitting exclamation mark on the whole single hop series, of which I still need to source a few more...

Pours a rustic, darker orange color with a finger length of an off white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a semi blanket of lacing on the top. Smells of resinous grass, almost cat piss-like, pine, grapefruit, orange, sweet pineapple and mango. Nice hop qualities but seem subdued due to age. A hint of breadiness and carmel show through as well. Taste is hard to describe with so much going on from the different hops. It starts with more of the bitter qualities of the hops like pine, resin, and a slight grapefruit that then leads into a creamy and sweet, bready malt backbone. Then the hops come back stronger with more complex flavors of pine, grass, tropical fruits, orange, grapefruit, resin, carmel, bready notes. High medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Pretty clean, yet bitter finish. Even being an older bottle, the hops still hold some complexity to them. I think they blend pretty well with one another. Decent offering from Mikkeller.

That is a lot of hops, curious what the overall IBU is because it is not harsh at all. All the hop flavors in the world are in there, pick out your favorite descriptions of hops and they apply. Barring the price, this is a pleasantly complicated IPA that I would drink all the time.

I don't know how to interpret the bottle date, just some numbers and dots, so maybe it is not date coded. And so I apologize for not having a lot more to say about this marvelous beer other than if you get a chance to try it, any hophead would at least appreciate what they were trying to do here. I mean every variation of hop flavor is actually in this beer, what hits your taste buds?
