Noticed my local beer store has many more of these sitting on the shelf so I decided to crack my cellared one. Poured into a darkness snifter.

A: this thing is deep, black, and beautiful for a stout. Nice tan head that foams up to match. I was worried about a flat mess, but this has got me impressed.

S: Woah, what the hell. Fresh cut wood, lemon grass, charred beef, a touch of vanilla, slight cinnamon, wasabi and gumball. Yeah, crazy.

T: Much like the nose lots of madness going on. An almost puckering taste with a strong dominant character reminiscent of lime (and tequila for that matter). A slightly spicy burn runs through the top of the mouth and brings with it some more savory flavors. This is really all over the place, but the most surprising thing is how it's most lime/lemon tangy like than savory or sweet.

M: A really nice mouthfeel, a good amount of carbonation with some slick, medium-heavy body.

O: As usual, you can't say this Mikkeller beer reminds you of any other beer. And as usual, you'll likely either find it quite worthwhile or a huge waste of time. Mikkeller can divide the beer nerds like no other. If you like tequila, and you like mikkeller, I dont think this iwll disappoint.

A - Dark brown-black with a finger of frothy chocolate colored head. Fades at a normal pace.

S - Dark chocolate and dark caramel malts, roasted coffee, molasses, black licorice, oak, agave, tequila, vanilla, some dark fruit, and some booze.

T - Dark chocolate and sweet dark caramel malts, roasted coffee, black licorice, molasses, oak, tequila, agave, some vanilla and dark fruit, some citrus and pine hops and a bit of bitterness, and some booze.

M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a warming and sweet finish.

D - Nicely balanced big imperial Stout. Nice body and mouthfeel. The tequila adds some nice complexity.

A - Pours a dark cola, body seems somewhat thick and head is a bubbly tan.

S - Ripe dark fruits, bitter dark chocolate & sweet honey. It does come across as boozy though.

T - Sweet molasses & rich honey at first. Midway you get roasted malts, some char (I expect this after a few of the others) and a somewhat floral tequila mix at the end.

M - Medium body & low carbonation.

O - It's a very sweet stout that doesn't keep my attention or really wow me. That being said it's still pretty solid.

Bought this a little over a year ago and actually shared one with a good friend when it had come in to us. I seem to have enjoyed it much more then than now. Even though it is still good, it is not quite as mind blowing as I remember.

But, it still is good.

Black Hole explains the colour... I don't think we need to go any further.

Body is pretty thick, heavy, but now absolutely dense. The carbonation is very fine and helps keep this from being a slab. Almost creamy.

Smells of rich dark fruits, very bitter dark chocolate, and a very interesting long booze/alcohol. It is almost unpleasant because of the high alcohol scent. But there is something reassuring about it. It's breeched the 13% though, so what do you expect?

Taste is instantly honey and liquor sweet. This quickly shifts into sweet raisins and almost a fresh fig taste. Then comes coffee, dark chocolate and a bit of vanilla and a bit of oak. A nice even roastiness. Then tapers into the bitter coffee and chocolate tones with a hint of tequila. This was what I remembered about this beer. The tequila was VERY distant and hard to recognize at the end. At least for me. The booze tend to mask it as well. Booze coming in mostly toward the middle to end, warming the whole mouth... which is actually very pleasant with the creamy body.

Booze that is very warm but not abrasive and competing.

Overall, good to have that one last bottle, but if I could attain this once more in my life I may just pass it over. It was a bit pricey and not as drop dead amazing as some beer that I have had at similar costs.

A rather thick black beer with a tan head. This bottle has a cap and it does not look undercarbonated. Looks thick and creamy. Good lacing.

Smells very rich and sweet.

I would have loved to try the normal version first. This is very fruity, but not really like your average fruity imperial stout. This has a bit of a resinous, slightly leafy fruitness to it, hard to describe but it must be the tequila (I never drink tequila by the way). Warming alcohol-like smell too. Raisins, molasses.

A very wierd and new flavour this one. Very sweet. Slight alcohol in the after taste. Wow, I need some time with this one. Now it is very sweet but that was expected from a beer brewed with dark sugar and honey. You do get some of the coffee but it does not have an overly big coffee flavour to it compared to other coffee stouts. Darker fruits to it from both the base beer and the barrel. The tequila barrel is like giving lots of flavours to this beer, that slightly leafy resinous flavour, it works with this beer. Noticable but not offputting warming alcohol. Very sweet though. If you don't like sweet stouts don't get this. I do get a little honey but this is basically just big sweetness. Not much in the way of hops. Complex stuff.

The mouthfeel is very good, nice and creamy. Not that much carbonation.

Great desert beer, a true sipper. Just unique and wierd but actually very good. Try it.
