A: Dark Brown-orange opaque and hazy body. The beer pours with a yellowish-white head, tiny bubbles and decent head retention. Should be less hazy with better retention.
S: Extremely faint nose with some discernible earthy and caramel notes.
F: Sweet citrus, almost tangy flavor hits you right off the bat with some malty, caramel and earthy notes.
M: The beer rolls on the palette with medium body and a sharp carbonation hitting the middle of the tongue.
Overall this is an okay IPA that kind of resembles Brew Free or Die by 21st Amendment.

Reviewed from session notes.
Poured out a slightly darker brownish-amber by a hair than the others in the series so far, maintains the same tall and sticky foam and superb lacing.
Smells very tannic and wooden, with lesser amounts of floral perfume and lemon peel, and just a hint of chives. Yes, chives.
Tastes of green hops, fresh picked, of the herbal persuasion sprinkled over a biscuit malt. Aside from a sprinkling of spicy coriander nuance, that's about all the flavor presented to my palate. The flavor is somewhat less pleasant than the aroma. The wooden character shows up again in the finish.
Medium body and carbonation levels, another creamy texture.
I'm not so sure that this hop variety is meant to be left on it's own... Smells great, tastes sort of boring one-tone coriander.

A: Pours a slightly hazy amber with a bubbly, thick white head.
S: Aromas of minerals and exotic fruit fill the nose.
T: A fruity, oddly gentle entry presents notes of lemon, biscuits, caramel, sage, lime, minerals, lychee, carambola, and passion fruit. The finish is very gentle with lingering exotic fruit and herb notes.
M: Medium-bodied and dryish. Carbonation is not as forceful as some of the other ales in this series. Very drinkable.
O: Willamette has never been my favorite hop varietal, but this ale presents this hop well. Compared to other beers that have attempted to showcase Willamette, Mikkeller really allows the full range of flavors that it is capable of presenting to shine. I'm not sure this beer works as an IPA, but it is surprisingly likable and refreshing. Recommended.

Surprisingly clear, given all the others of this series were cloudy. Otherwise, honey gold on the brownish side with a slight head that leaves a fine lacing.
Sweet and floral with some fruit, rather unlike the pellets.
More malt than expected with some biscuit and some pine. Mildly bitter through the finish which is moderate in length.
A full-bodied beer with some alcohol, a wooly texture, and ample carbonation that is cleansing.
Willamette was enjoyed as part of a self-training exercise to distinguish between the varieties of hops. This one is best enjoyed with a meal.
Sampled from a pint glass alongside the Warrior Single Hop IPA.

The last of the 13 single hopped Mikkeller beers I tried. I have to say that I'm glad that I am done with all of them as they have been pretty underwhelming and confirmed my opinion and stance on Mikkeller that I should have written in stone in my mind the many years ago that I came to the realize the truth. Moving on. No need to mince words. Or dice them. Or slice them.

Usual appearance for the single hop series, maybe a hint more red body. Seems to have a bit more head retention and lacing than the norm.
Nice aroma, smells perfumy, a bit floral and citrus. Mild and pleasant.
Has a pleasant and refreshing mouthfeel.
Spicy and pleasant tasting with nice notes of orange that are supported by the malt in this one. Just a bit of bitterness in the finish. It may be last in the series but it is not least, and I quite like this one. This beer showcases why Willamette is a favorite aromatic hop.

S- lots of lemongrass coming through on this one...smells really pleasant. Hints of citrus as well
T- little bit of citrus sweetness....finish is a tad bit bitter and a little spicy....very good. Some earthiness as well
M- medium bodied, not syrupy
O- very solid single hop. Very drinkable

Picked up all 19 of the Mikkeller Single Hop Series beers at my favorite beer store in Belgium, Dranken Geers. Clear copper-amber pour with two finger head with decent retention and lacing. The nose is surprisingly more malty than hoppy. I'm getting hints of pine and a touch of orange and booze, but the citrus I expected was not there. The same holds true in the taste. It's slightly herbal and spicy with an unexpected subdued alcohol burn, but the sweet caramel malt overpowers the hops. Mouthfeel is a bit tangy and fizzy at first, but it finishes thin and oily. Overall it's a bit disappointing.

Muddy dark orange, decent head with good lacing. Aroma of fresh floral hops, light caramel malt sweetness and a pronounced soapy character.
Flavor consists of clean bright hops of the floral/herbal bent, with a good backbone of semi-sweet malt. The bitterness from this hop is very smooth and rounded. Excellent balance that leans slightly towards the bitter side.
Medium in body and carbonation. Pretty good feel for an IPA -- the bitterness helps clean up the back end and prevents what otherwise might be a lingering sugary coating. Overall I am more impressed by the flavor of the hop itself than by the beer as a whole. The soap-like character on the nose is too prominent, the color is pretty nasty, and there's too much malt sweetness. The Willamette hop on the other hand presents an excellent bitterness that is clean and balanced. The flavor of the hop is good as well, but a little boring. It would make a great "base hop" flavor that could be augmented by other varieties.

Bottle stamped 8220411
Yep, looks the same as the other Mikkeller Single Hop versions. Straight Amber color with a heavy off white head that shows excellent retention and leaves quite a bit of lace.
Light aroma. Lemon and light citrus with some grassy notes. Some toffee notes.
Hmm, some white pepper here, lots of toffee, some vegetal green tones. A mineral flavor. Some big fruity notes towards the end.
Medium bodied and the opposite of slick. Not powdery on the tongue, but approaching that.
It’s ok. Nothing to write home about.

From the bottle with a cap stamped 8220411. Sampled on November 18, 2011.It pours a nice looking light-to-medium color with a long lasting, foamy head and a slight haze. The hops on the nose are subtle and nice with a pleasant, nutty and malty character. The body falls into the medium range but it also nice and smooth. The malts are up front for a second followed by a more prominent hopped, dry finish. I like the way this one played on my senses.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a copper color and a clear consistency. There was a large, foamy, long-lasting head. Good lacing.
S: A very hoppy aroma, with traces of citrus there as well.
T: Tasted predominantly of hops, though they weren't as harsh as I would have expected. Also had some citrus and malt, too. A good, subtle flavor.
M: A well-carbonated beer that has an unfortunately slick and oily finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is a generally well done, likable beer. Drinkable.

A-Pours a vibrant orange/amber with 2 full fingers of quickly dying,bone-white foam that left sparse and spotty lacing.
S-Slight spice, sweet hop notes of orange and tangerine, tart green apple, clover and some amber-like malts.
T-More green apple/cider qualities with more tartness than bitterness with notes of lemon and herbs.
M-Light bodied and a little thin with decent carbonation.
O-As with much of this series, great in concept
but mediocre in quality.

Cap numbered 8230411! Served from bottle into Stone nonic. Poured yellow-orange with a two finger off-white head that subsided to one finger slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, floral, citrus, floral hop, and citrus hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, citrus, passion fruit, floral hop, citrus hop, and floral notes. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty nice brew. I really like how this brew combined the citrus and floral characters to make a pretty nice well rounded aroma and flavor. The floral note on the followthrough on this brew made it quite refreshing and cleansed your palate for the next sip. Well done... Could drink a few of these.

The idea for this series of brew is awesome. This gives the drinker the chance to taste how different hops affect the brew in different ways. I have brewed a home brew or two with Willamette and decided to try this one. 12oz bottle...
A: A nice clear deep red / amberish color with a 1 inch white head that fades at a decent pace. Good.
S: I get a nice blend of malt with a a mild peppery hop in the middle. A super faint earthy citrus on the backend. Ok.
T: Very balanced, but not an IPA by any means. This starts with a clean malt and quickly followed with a mild peppery hop in the middle and a very rich malty backend. Good.
M: Medium body with a hard carbonation. A malty clean finish. Ok.
O: All in all, this is a decent beer. Not amazing, but decent. The concept, though, is not really to produce a mind blowing beer, but to produce a beer showcasing some of the many varieties of hops available to brewers. In this regard, it does it's job. This definitely shouldn't be categorized as an IPA, but it could just be the Willamette not being the beer to showcase for this style. So, in a sense, this beer does it's job. Definitely try if you're a brewer / home brewer to test the different hop varieties.
