Presentation: Poured into a pint glass.
A: Orange amber color. Clear with a nice off-white head. Moderate lacing.
S: Very mild aromas. Some citrus, papaya or mango and mild pine.
T&M: Definitely some pepper, very mild. Hop bitterness. Great! Mild citrus and heavy pine. Medium bodied. Well balanced. Very smooth and tasty.
This is much tastier than I expected after an odd aroma. The 102 IBU rating gives it a great hop bitterness.

eyes...
big but not over zealous head stacks up on itself like snow in boston...
about 2 fingers of mixed bubbles (smaller on the bottom, craggy soap dwellers on top), a little audible sizzle but not too much as this absolutely is filled with bubbles in a frenzy on the audobon of light orange, the forecast calls for just a slight haze but it should not impact my review...
this is a nice looking brew, lacing, consistent color, lovely head...
nose...
caramel malts with a "brown" earthy hop aroma, the aroma of lemons left lying around (like the thing at the bar where lemons languish longingly for libations), interesting but not awe inducing (nor habit forming)
taste etc...
mellow, everything is mellow, almost drinks like a more punched up (carbonation wise) ESB, good mouthfeel and proper weight, the earthy brown flavor is very present with some mild bitterness (very much in balance with the malt). some warming is apparent from the ABV. a nice drinker but nothing sparkles (and yet nothing sucks either)
verdict?
APA? not sure on this one, to me an APA is a hopped up PA... not to say this is bad, it certainly is tasty but perhaps just a euro pale ale really to be fair. This is interesting and worth a try, I suspect some people might enjoy the balance here rather than the over the top hop carnage.

Pours a hazy sunburst orange with a tight, white head that leaves good sized chunks of lacing.
Smells of lemon and grassy notes.
Tastes of the hop notes upfront with a solid malt base. The lemon notes are prominent leading way to floral and grass notes. Decently bitter. Malts come in and add a little grainy sweetness along with bread notes. Fairly balanced overall.
Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.
Overall, this is interesting, but not outstanding and definitely not worth the import surcharge.

Grabbed two to compare. Starting here with Sorachi Ace.
Not the most impressive thing poured into a glass. Lots of floating sediment which I normally don't mind. This however is a bit much. Otherwise it looks ok. Bright copper (though incredibly cloudy) with a decent foamy white head.
Lemon lime citrusy hops aroma. Pretty enjoyable really. Would seem to suit a nice light APA in small amounts.
Smooth bitterness and hop flavor. Light lime tinge to it. A bit of malt in the background but generally nice and dry.
Yeah, it's an ok IPA. A bit one dimensional but guess that's expected from a single hop beer. I like the hops though, just might be better suited to a different beer. Well done to the brewer(s) for putting it out there.
