375ml bottle.
Pours hazy copper with a inch-plus head of white. A partial skim coat and smeary lacing throughout the glass.
Aromatics lead off with vinegar-drizzeled fruits, grass, wet hay, and grapefruit. Tannic
and vineous with grapeskins and peach pits following through.
Light bodied with crisp yet creamy mouthfeel.
Tart stone fruit, grass-rubbed apples, grapefruit must, and oaky-vineous
notes starts the palate. Wet paper, figgy malt, and fruit skins follow through.
Finishes with pineapple skins, sweetish malt, and grass-rubbed peach pits.
This beer is a bit malty and sweet with subdued funk. The vineous, pineapple and cider notes offer promise but overall the sweet malt gets in the way.

A: Reddish orange hue. Looks inviting, not a whole lot of head retention with this one. Looks inviting.
S: This is where the party starts, take a sniff and your nose becomes a bit confused, sweetness of a white wine hits the nose, a good deal of hops and a rather sweet malty aroma all fight for a place.
T: Wow, this one was spectacular to taste. Definitely a more unusual beer. If i had to make a percentage of it, i would say 30% of the taste was from the wine. A very nice taste. Floral sweetness, with a some fruity tastes. Definitely take time to savor all the complexities of this one, your mouth will thank you for it.
M: Crisp, dry, clean. Great.
O: Definitely would love to have this one on many a special occasion. Delightful to drink. Feel like with what they were trying to do, they hit a home run with it. Unique and delicious.

my bottle says 8% abv, not 9. i was a bit underwhelmed by this, after eager anticipation and really enjoying the USAlive, this one didnt seem to do it as well. pours hazy copper color with plenty of yeast floaters and a small off white head that fades fast. the nose is a little funky, but more acidic than anything. the wine barrel as apparently tamed rather than intensified some of the better features of the USAlive, particularly its crazy interesting yeasty characteristic, as well as the carbonation, which was really lacking in this one. flavor is dry and malty, with some gentle acidity from the wine barrel, but not as much of that barnyard classic wild ale hustle that i am used to. a little fruity in the finish, this is a beer that seemed to not quite unite elementally, one that was disected rather than brought together by the wine barrel, which really didnt do much for this. ive got the lychee version in the fridge too, so we'll have to see how that one goes, but for 15 bucks you can afford to skip this one.

Small foil-wrapped bottle.
Appearance: Mildly murky amber with a nice contrasting white head
Nose: Brett jumps right out of the glass here with a pungent barnyard and moldy cheese aroma. Lemon, bread, and a hint of rubbery petrol from the wine-barrel are also present.
Taste: The funky hay bale and gasoline combination is up front with savory notes like almond paste, bleu cheese and maybe even a bit of truffle present. It finishes with gasoline and oak.
Mouthfeel: A bit watery. Nothing special
Overall: Really interesting and different beer. The brett and wine-barrel combination here produced some flavors that I hadn't picked up in other examples of the style.

12.7 oz bottle poured into a tulip. 8% alc by vol. Price: $14.99 in NJ.
Appearance
Really cloudy mahogany with 3-4 fingers of really creamy off-white head. Excellent head retention and thick clouds of lacing.
Nose
Pear, oak, potpourri, apple and barnyard.
Taste
Very, very oaky which is nice. Some nutty flavors come along for the ride. Nectarine, pear, tart green apple, peach and lemon juice. Big Belgian funk with horse blanket, potpourri and dried hay. Touches of white wine, coriander and pink peppercorn on the finish.
Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, clean, tart and dry.
Overall
Subtly tart with big barnyard and oak flavors. Very complex, dry and refreshing. No detection of the 8% abv. This is downright delicious!
