A beautiful thick, dark brown to black beer with a dense dark tan head.

Smells of chocolate malts with a spicyness to it that tingles the nostrils. Strange by intriguing!
Some coffee, slight dark fruits.

This is so wierd. A very decent porter, or more like a stout maybe but it has a burning sensation to it! It's crazy! But not in a bad way. Slightly smokey and savory.

Once you drink the beer it tastes like a nice, medium-sweet and even slightly fruity stout but once it sits in your mouth for a second or two, and especially with the swallow you get the burning pepper. The aftertaste has a pepper burn to it as well. The burn is not too strong but it is quite noticable, as someone who has not had a chilli beer before it is a wierd experience.

Mouthfeel is quite full and creamy. Nice, low to medium carbonation.

Overall a very good porter, with heat! Truely a must try, these kind of beers.
But to be honest I would prefer this without the burn.

Pours dark black with great tan frothy head. Like a chocolate mousse.

Smell is chocolate fudge, fruitiness, some nice bitey hops, ice cream, marshmallows.

Taste is all sweet chocolate fudge and syrup. Subtle chilli on the finish. A touch smoky.

Mouthfeel is big: thick and viscous.

This is just an all round winner. Looks great. Get the huge chocolate, the chilli and the subtle but lingering smokiness. Inspired.

Only slight issue is that the Mikkeller soy is unfortunately a little present here, but less so than in some other beers.

Poured from a bottle into a tumbler pint, the beer pours a beautiful, rich, dark brown to black coloring that is just about opaque. A tall, frothy, dense, creamy, chocolate brown colored head sits atop at about an inch and a half, and slowly settles into a firm, filmy surface coating that clings to everything it touches. Aromas of rich, creamy chocolate in the backbone, with a subtle, overlaying highlight of smokey and slightly spicy chipotle peppers. Smells pretty damn good, and well balanced, too. Flavors of coffee and cream first, with a charred and spicy pepper profile following immediately. The pepper characteristics build rapidly as you drink, with a slowly cumulative heat. Oaky and earthy undertones throughout, which help give some layering to the brew. Spiced and peppery aftertaste, with a bittersweet chocolate backbone to it. Mid-bodied and fairly dry throughout, with a spicy, semisweet, thin finish that has a spicy linger to it. Moreso the more you drink.

A - Dark black with a hint of brown and a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate colored head. Fades normal.

S - Sweet dark chocolate malts, chipotle, roasted coffee, black licorice, bit of molasses.

T - Sweet dark chocolate malts, bit of milk chocolate, lightly spicy chipotle peppers, roasted coffee, black licorice, molasses.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a spicy, warming, and sweet finish.

D - Nice spicy porter. The chipotle adds some nice heat without taking over.

12 fl oz bottle poured at room temp.
poured a jet black untranslucent liquid, formed a 2 fingers tan dense persistent head, good lacing.
deep intense aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, roasted malts and definitely hints of chipotle, smoke (woody), and black pepper.
palate is the same as above, nice balance of malts and hops, the chipotle flavor is prominent and i can feel towards the end the lasting medium to mild spicy heat in my lips, tongue and throat.
full body, nice adequate carbonation, alcohol is not noticeable.
overall this is a strong porter, id say this could fit into stouts, the coffee chocolate favor is very rich and delicious, the chipotle is a nice adventurous touch, and its hot! very nice experimental stout like brew.

A: Pours jet black with an enormous, super dense, very dark brown head. Top-notch head retention, takes at least 10 minutes to fade away to drinkable levels. Never seems to really fade completely either. Big thick spiderweb lacework left behind too.

S: Smoky with distinctive chipotles. Lots of them. Mild chile heat is discernible in the nose. Get some char and some chocolate mixing in there too.

T: Smoky sweet chocolate up front with notable chipotle pepper taste, but no heat . Some char joins in the middle and then the sweetness fades away, leaving bitter baker's chocolate, smoke, char and a quick burst of chile pepper heat (finally). Lingering smoky chipotles with very mild heat in the aftertaste. Very drying.

M: Very nice body for only 6.6%. Medium/heavy body, very full and creamy. Exact opposite on the back end, becomes chalky and drying in the finish.

O: An excellent example of the style (if chile porter were a style). The smoky chipotles integrate well with the typical smoke character of a porter. Not very spicy at all, just a quick wave of heat in the finish but even that is minor. It could actually stand to be a lot hotter but then again I am a chile lover.

A: Extremely dark colored beer, almost black and completely opaque. The beer poured with a dark brown head, tiny bubbles and had a decent amount of retention but the head was pretty thin.

S: The first two notes that hit your nose are smokiness and black pepper almost resembling bacon. There are light notes of malt and some floral hop notes. Overall though, the nose wasn't that strong and it took a lot of inhaling to discern the notes I have.

T: A wonderful blend of chocolate and smokey pepper. It packs quite a bit of spiciness that is balanced by the smooth chocolate and malty sweetness. This is what I feel a chipotle porter should taste like. I'd venture to say that this beer sets the flavor bar for all chipotle porters.

M: This beer has a medium body which is almost perfect however a bit more residual sugar would benefit it. The carbonation adds a nice bite of the tip of the tongue while the spice hits the back of the tongue.

Overall this beer is close to perfect. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the flavors I mentioned above. The only thing stopping the beer from greatness is the lack of aroma.

A - Pours thick for a porter. Very black with a tan one finger head. Not much lacing.

S - Dark Chocolate and smokey haze lingers. I'm not getting much chipotle on the nose.

T - Subdued cocoa and weak coffee start you off and then halfway in you feel the heat. This lingers to the end and a pleasant ending of spices & heat.

M - Lighter body, high carbonation.

O - I was happy to find out the base porter has good legs on it and the chipotle isn't overwhelmingly spicey.

Firstly, I enjoy Mikkeller beers a great deal for the most part but...This is a smoked up novelty beer. This beer has the usual and increasingly extreme Mikkeller body. Getting through just one was difficult. It was too rich and had a savoury character, presumably from the Chipotle that overwhelmed.
I love you guys but just stop for a second and reflect.
