So this one poured out black like the others and has pretty much the same type of head on it. It's thick and brown in color, leave a light lacing on the glass. The smell of this one has the typical stout aromas to it and a hint of what might be spice from the rum. The taste of this one was pretty good, just like the others... it's deeply roasted and has a subtle amount of spices in there. The mouthfeel of the beer is thick and coats the mouth pretty well. Overall the I enjoy these stouts.

Enjoyed while watching the Florida @ Florida State game during Rivalry Saturday! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller Teku (proper!). Poured pitch black with a minimal tan head. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, roasted malt, wood, sweet alcohol, charred malt, subtle dark fruit, and subtle coconut. The flavor was of sweet malt, smoke, dark chocolate, dark fruit, wood, sweet alcohol, and coffee. It had a heavy feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall pretty decent brew. I have had a few rum barrel aged stouts that I have really enjoyed in the past so I went into this one with high hopes. However, this one fell just a little short unfortunately. The rum presence was there in the aroma with the subtle coconut note, but was nowhere to be found on the flavor. The coffee was really the dominant/lingering aspect taking place on this one. Wish the rum would have pounded my palate on this one. Still a good brew that I would suggest trying fresher than I have.

Thanks to my brother for sending me this bottle. This is the final beer in the Black Hole series that I needed to try.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and roasted malt, with hints of rum and oak mixed in. The flavor is heavier on the rum, with the barrel aged notes of oak and maple thrown in. I also get a nice amount of roasted malt and molasses. The beer is fairly sweet overall and the alcohol is nicely hidden. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Dark thick pitch black beer with hints of fizzy head.
Nose has less chocolate than the regular, hint of vanilla like, sweet molasses, sugar, caramel, hint of booze.
Taste has quite a bit of rum. Rummy, with molasses and sugar cane sweetness, chewy, less chocolate as well but a bit of roast, rounded well, hint of vanilla and oak, and some decent booze.
Mouth is fuller bodied, decent enough carb although lighter, some warming and hint tingly booze.
Overall not bad, but again the rum barrel doesn't do much for it, I'm not a rum fan either.

Builds a dense, dark, creamy walnut head over a jet-black beer with dark walnut highlights. The head falls quickly, leaving a fine coating of lace and a quick swirl puts up a film on the glass.
Smells of rich, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, whisky, raisins, and vanilla.
Deep roasted malt is the primary flavor with sharp alcohol. This stout is syrupy sweet at times, otherwise following the nose. The finish is long with roasted bitterness and some tobacco.
A full, syrupy body with light astringency, high alcohol and moderate carbonation.
A good sipping beer from a Dogfish Head snifter, but is better with grilled steak.

A - pours with a small head of tan foam on top of a black body. The head settles rapidly and leaves no lace.
S - deep, dark chocolate with some nutty caramel and warm alcohol.
T - sweet, chocolate and toffee malt up front. Things get thicker and darker in the middle with vanilla, caramel and nutty chocolate. More of the same in the finish with smoke, licorice, and dark chocolate.
M - medium-thick body, low carbonation, and a sweet finish.
D - very complex with a distinct contribution from the rum but not so much that it overwhelms the base beer.

No head or lacing on a jet black body with no light getting through. Very strong aroma, mostly smokey, vanilla, raisin and chocolate aroma. The flavor with a strong rum presense intermixed with a strong smokey backbone and tart chocolate notes. full syrupy body and no carbonation. Overall not very drinkable which is expected but still a nice rum aged beer.
