Bottle (330ml from Good Spirits Co. Glasgow, £4):
Deep amber colour with a large head that is about an inch and a bit tall with a foamy texture and a creamy white head on top. The beer is clear and shows some tiny bubbles rising to the surface and head retention is good too.

Light pine bitterness and hops with a few floral notes but overall it was pretty subdued and nothing really grabbed your attention. Once it opened up a little then some grapefruit and citrus notes made an appearance along with some faint and sweet malts plus a hint of fruit in the background.

Nice balance of bitter hops, grapefruit and citrus complimenting the tropical fruit flavours very well indeed. A stronger malt and caramel taste than the nose suggested and a nice mix of fruits, notably orange at the end with a nice bitter finish.

A medium body and moderate carbonation with a nice bitter and citrus kick along with a slightly chewy mouthfeel. The finish was bitter, crisp and surprisingly refreshing with only a touch of alcohol coming through right at the death.

Nice and well balanced beer with enjoy going for it to make it a pleasant beer that I would have again. I would say that the smell could have been stronger and that it started to fade a little towards the end when the alcohol became slightly more noticeable but it was still a good beer.

11.2oz bottle poured into a tulip pint glass. It is labeled 6.9% ABV.

Appearance: Amber/slightly hazy copper in color. Creamy, pale, and thick two finger head. Excellent head retention.

Smell: Your standard aromas of pine, resin, and floral bouquet that is typical of American IPA's.

Taste: Light notes of caramel. Subdued citrus and grapefruit.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation perfectly matches this medium-bodied beer. Light hop bitterness in the beginning. Starts off dry, and finishes somewhat chewy and refreshing.

Overall: I'd say Mikkeller did a decent job replicating west coast IPAs. I would not buy this over American-made IPA's though because the hop flavor and aroma is not as "bright and clean" as it should be.

not sure how fresh this one was, but I still really liked it. its much more like an American pale ale than an ipa to me, with more of that malt balance in there. it pours a hazy orangey bronze color with a pretty sturdy white head. fruity hop aromas rise up from the glass, not bitter at all, but interesting. maybe they call it 10 because that's how many hop varietals are present in this brew? English malts balance the hops in flavor, it tastes like some of the single hop series, familiar, like ive already had this beer somehow. its also lacking in complexity. I wanted this to challenge me like so many other mikkeller beers do, but this isn't like that. its just a basic easy drinking pale ale. good yeast presence though. active carbonation and a medium body, I could drink a lot of these, but for the price I expected a lot more here. again, this bottle might have had a little age on it, but I cannot confirm. ive also heard this is excellent on tap, hopefully ill get to find out someday.

330 mL btl.

Cloudy amber pour that is actually quite dull. 1 finger moderately dense frothy head that settles to a spotty film with solid ring that is kept alive by good carbonation. great lacing

Semi-sweet roast (slight chocolaty note) malt with a very subdued fragrant hops.

zesty bitter citrus pith and creamy tropical fruit sit on a lightly toasty bread and chocolate malts. Leafy and floral hops kicks in slightly before a citrus peak flows into the mildly bitter hop finish.

Medium bodied with very lows levels of carbonation that leaves it slightly syrupy with a zesty crisp peak on the front of the palate before it finishes with a slightly tart yet lush finish.

Yeah its a little old, but I still expected more. Its a little muted and lacks both punch and brightness. I know its a little old and these are the first things to go, but It take forever to get to where I live. the hops grows a little as I finish the beer but doesn't get to a level I would consider an american IPA

Poured from a 333ml bottle into a tulip. Best before date on the cap (assuming that's what the date means) is 13/03/14

A - slightly cloudy amber/amber with fluffy tan head that leaves streaky, sticky lacing down the glass. Small edge of lacing left around the glass.

S - pine resin and a subtle background fruit (hard to place - apricot?)

T - nice sharp resinous attack with a solid bready malt backbone. More resin than citrus fruit. Solid enduring bitterness throughout but weight only slightly on the palate in the aftertaste. Surprisingly balanced, though the malt never quite breaks through.

M - medium bodied with medium carbonation. No oiliness or booziness.

Overall it feels like a very balanced IPA though without any particular stand out qualities; perhaps that's the side effect of using 10 different hops. It's almost like a "meta" beer that has hints of lots of others, but never really defines itself.
