Appearance - Hazy golden with a white two finger head that leaves little lacing.

Smell - Smells very fresh, herbal hops with bready maltiness.

Taste - Bready maltiness, earthy, grassy herbal hops with some citrus and finishes with some sweetnes, cloves and bitterness. Well balanced! [Side note: Drank this to a spicy dish which gave it a lot of apricot taste, very tasty!]

Mouthfeel - Creamy, smooth, light body with high soft carbonation.

Pretty good beer as usual from Mikkeller. Poured at a good temperature with a nice, foamy, thick, off-white head that lasts all the way down and some lace. Color is a clear amber with dozens of active bubble trails. Aroma is hop, malt, caramel, grass, resin. Flavor's like nose, fairly dry, mostly bitter at first, then slight carbonic tang with suggestion of sweet. Body is soft and full with mild carbonation (don't know how that's done!). Finish is like flavor and along with mouth feel is long and very drinkable. Bravo!

Pours an opaque deep copper brown with a solid half inch khaki head that lingers.

Aroma begins with fresh cut grass, resin, and grapefruit pith. There's a bready sweet malt undertone offering support. Tropical fruit aromas emerge as it warms, adding complexity.

Flavor is much less subtle, with bready malt and hints of toast carrying a hop onslaught of citrus, grapefruit, lemon, mango. The finishing earthy hop bitterness is not for the faint of hop! Tea and herbal subtleties emerge when my palate acclimates.

Body is moderate, with a moderate amount of carbonation accentuating the citrus flavor.

Overall, an extremely bitter offering. Great hop presence, but the bitterness is a bit overwhelming!

When Easter weekend arrives, a visit to the lawn to watch children scavenge for brightly decorated eggs bring about the scents of an awakening world. Fresh cut grass, citrus blossoms, and brighter weather seem to fuel the thirst for IPA.

The rusty and deep copper ale carries a robust haze with a dense slightly yellowish head that persists stubbornly and trails with strong pockets of lace. Aside from the heavy and weighted haze of hops and yeast, this is an ideal looking ale.

A combination of caramel-soaked citrus and bready earthen characteristic carry the nose with a firm and more balanced nose than is expected. The slight fruitiness of easters is quickly consumed by hop character of grapefruit and herbal grasses to round out the slight hop-forward nose.

Firm malty flavors of caramel, bread, and English biscuit create a full and rich taste for an IPA. However a modest early presence of red grapefruit, tropical fruit pulp, and freshly mulled herbs and grasses give a delicate rebuttal to malt, but quickly develop into the sharp acidity of citrus pith, grassy bite, and piney resin bitterness to finish. While starting fresh and zesty, the hops make a lot of headway in short time turning earthy and resiny shortly after. Spicy earth character nearly reminds me of rye that's expounded by the bread taste that turns mildly stale with yeast and must late.

Full textured as well as the bready/biscuity taste manifests in the mouthfeel with a full creamy body that envelops the growing hop bitterness, dryness, and mildly astringent bite. The beer just works itself into a lather as the taste continues to develop sip after sip, deeper and deeper into finish.

Drikkeriget (Hoppy Easter) is a stern IPA that carries a lot of the semi-English, semi-American taste that I've come to expect from Mikkeller. As all of their IPAs taste nearly the same, while carrying a similar yeasty stale bread taste, makes me think that fresher examples would garner more individualism from beer to beer and with fresher, zestier taste.

Pours a hazy yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, dry yeast and a nice, small dry hop. In the taste, a small bitter hop, with a note of candy sugar. A very small bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry pine hop in the aftertaste. Nice balance with hop and a yeasty/ candy sugar balance.

I bought this at Mari's in Reading during a recent visit and held it in abeyance awaiting today. The date on the bottle, however, reads "04/02/12" which does not make a whole lotta sense. Oh well, I am drinking it today, so Happy Hoppy Easter to me and to all of my followers.

My pour gave me a brief finger of tawny head before disappearing into wisps. Color was a hazy golden yellow. Nose was a very earthy, grassy smell which was not what I would have expected from the style. Mouthfeel was medium and the taste was surprisingly lager-like with a honey sweetness along with a grassy hoppiness on the tongue. Wild! Finish was dry, slightly bitter, but ultimately unsatisfying for a hophead. It was a fun drink for Easter Sunday, but I was underwhelmed overall.
