A: thick soapy head with dense net-like lacing over slightly murky burnt orange

S: grapefruit citrus with some orange zest/peel, minor citrus sweetness, mild mint

T: HUGE hop bite that overwhelms most of the remaining hop character, very minor citrus, aside from the bite--not much going on

M: very thin throughout with lingering thick stickiness in the back of the throat

D: the hop bitterness is pretty harsh and overwhelming, likely a one-and-done

In a pint glass it appears copper color with a a nice head. Great lacing. I could smell the floral hops as I was pouring it. The taste is piny, herbal, a floral feel, with caramel .Smooth and easy to drink. The body was not heavy, it had a syrupy character. Tomahawk is really well done.

Disclaimer: any significant rating deviation my be attributed to reviewing this beer while under the stress of a pre-evacuation order due to the Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado. But got to try not to let the unsampled beers perish in vain (i.e., worse case scenario)...

Outstanding color, head, carbonation, and lacing. Deep, rich malt nose with a subdued yet solid floral/grass hop nose.

Taste is what you'd expect for the style. Malt dominated with hop bitterness and an ever so subtle alcohol warmth in the mix. Clean, semi-dry.

An excellent example of the style. Bold, assertive, with enough depth and character make for an enjoyable glass of suds.

A - Pours a bright red/orange hiding under a thick, dense eggshell head with glorious sticky chunks of lacing.

S - Pine resin and citrus hop aroma, nicely balanced with a backing of toffee and biscuit malt.

T - Really resinous bitter orange peel and pine needle, caramel and peppery spice provide some detail. Sweet orange flesh brings a bittersweet balance.

M - Syrupy full bodied with moderate carbonation and slap up bitterness.

O - Supreme single hop IPA. Stands out from a host of rippers from Mikkeller.
