I'm always impressed by Mikheller's ability to take a style and really turn it on it's head. I was almost ready to poo-poo this beer when I had my first sip. Cold, and straight out of the fridge, I thought that it was too dry and turbid. But as it warmed a little, and I warmed myself with a few more sips, I've discovered that this is a terrific IPA. Warrior seems almost like a cleaner Columbus. It gives a very clean bittering, almost like Magnum, but with a nice hop aroma and citrusy hop flavor. I get some almost Belgian-esque notes (pear, mango, Clove). The taste lingers, but not forever.
I wish that this cheaper and available in six packs. I would gladly drink a sixer of these

Poured in a pint glass, rich amber color with thick head,at least two inches.
Earthy, bitter aroma that REALLY opened up after a few minutes. This beer seems to open up more and more inviting flavors of citrus, dried fruits, earthiness, caramel, brown sugar with a nice hoppy backbone to keep everything well balanced. Chewy mouthfeel for an IPA. IBU's are pretty high at over 100 according to the bottle but not an especially bitter hoppiness, smoother and more rounded mouthfeel and flavor. Loved this beer and this series is a great way to learn more about the flavors and nuances of single hopped beers. My first Mikkeller, but it won't be my last.

Pours a clear medium brown with a modest cream head.
Aroma is somewhat malty, herbal, grassy, and resinous. There's a touch of bitter earthiness and citrus.
Flavor is extremely earthy and resinous with a touch of citrus, moderate bitterness, slightly peppery, and finishing with a hint of pine. Resin and earthiness, grassiness, with a stronger chewiness than amarillo.
Body is moderate, moderate carbonation, astringent finish, slight alcohol warmth.
Very resiny, fairly bitter, remind me of rye in a way.

certainly one of the most bitter single hop series beers ive tasted. this one poured a pale copper color, hazy, with a luxurious khaki head pushing two inches. the nose is intensely bitter, really oily, with some bitter grapefruit rind essence, all on top of a pretty sturdy medium malt body, like all of these beers. the flavor doesn't start off that bitter, but it finishes that way for sure. sort of fruity and lighter up front, but it intensifies slowly building to a super bitter finish. would be good as a bittering hop, but the flavor is also really nice with that little but of tart fruit. I might try it with a rye malt backbone, allowing the spice of the rye an the bitter warrior hop to jive. good feel, not as rich as some, but good oil content and carbonation. love the dry bitter finish. overall another good single hop beer, this one might not do as well in isolation, but could be good in a nice big American style ipa with a few varieties. good stuff again from mikkeller.

Serving type: 330 ml (11.2-ounce) bottle. A batch code is printed on the cap but there is no discernable freshness date.
Appearance: Poured into a pint glass. The color is cloudy amber. There are a few very small specks of sedimentation, but nothing like the blizzard from the other single-hop bottles I had. One finger of eggshell-colored head dissipated fairly quickly to leave a spotted and bubbly lacing, a razor-thin skim, and a ring around the edge.
Smell: Grapefruit and orange citrus with earthy graininess, which imparts an astringent bitterness. There is a solid malt foundation with caramel, honey, and toffee.
Taste: The flavor is coy and evolves in stages, thankfully reaching a tasty climax. There is little flavor at first except for light malts and earthy bitterness. However, the citrus emerges and the hops crank up the bitterness. Grapefruit, orange, a splash of lemon, caramel, honey, and toffee. The bitterness lingers on the tongue and cheeks long after each sip.
Drinkability: It is a pretty decent brew. Understandably, it suffers from that unfinished quality, but it still turned out pretty solid.

I picked up a bottle of this on clearance for $5. I've never had anything from Mikkeller before, mostly because a lot of it is pretty pricey. The date on the cap is 23/12/11 (consumed 8/10/12).
I'm interested to see a Danish take on an American-style IPA. Poured from bottle into goblet.
Appearance - Cloudy dark caramel-brown color, with red-ish hues at the bottom. It's really beautiful. 1 1/2-inch head reducing down to about 1/4 inch, following all the way to the bottom. Mild lacing.
Smell - I noticed that the smell was unusually strong as soon as I opened the bottle. Floral and alcohol
Taste - Tart bite. There are plenty of beers that have a bitter bite, but this is one of the few I would call tart. Interesting. Bitter hops follow mild caramel, honey, and brown sugar malt notes. Bitter hops stay for longer than the malts.
Feel - Medium body, alcohol dry, but not bad. maybe a little chewy.
Overall - I like the balance. I find this beer pretty unique, mostly for the tart bite. Comparing to American-made IPA's this one is pretty mild as far as hop presence. If you're someone who tends to think that American IPA's are too strong, try this one. It's sessionable. Good beer, but expensive.
