Enjoyed on tap at Capone's on 12/6 (great tap list, as usual). Reviewed from notes. Served in a 6 oz. snifter.
Jet black! Just a puddle of brown fuzz on top with absolutely no carbonation in sight. Imposing, yet elegant in its stillness.
Faint aromas of nut and cocoa with a hint of dryness. Initially, it seems quite subtle, but the scent becomes more noticeable as it warms, emitting strong whiffs of coffee bean.
Profoundly delicious. Hints of vanilla, nutty, roasted coffee bean, chocolate bar and soy milk. The flavors are so big that they slap you in the face... yet, it's not a rich beer, allowing some dryness to peak out in the conclusion. The flavors come in waves; boldly but not forcefully, making for one of the best stouts ever brewed.
For a beer of such gravity, it's rather drinkable and the wave of warm chocolate makes the coffee bean bite seem relaxed. It's a dessert beer that doesn't make you feel guilty or go into sugar shock. How cool is that?
The three times I've had this beer have been an absolute pleasure. How can dessert be so drinkable? How can weasel shit be so delicious? I may never know the answers.

Poured into a tulip glass. An amazingly dark brown head, creamy and rich with steller retention and lacing. Colour is jet black. Such a smooth liqueury and thick character.
S - dark roast malt and piles of bitter coffee, dried apricot and fruit, very intense and rich, subtle oriental spices, so complex and balanced.
T - coffee liqueur, a subtle creaminess, oakyness, coffee beans, warming liqueur note. Fisnish is dry, complex and malt forward, a very long finish, drying espresso, rich velvet cake.
M - a smooth, very rich body, surprisingly creamy with a spicy alcohol presence, all very balanced and drinkable with enough malt and coffee to balance it out nicely, nearly syrupy in texture.
An amazing beer, maybe a little hot on the alcohol but the coffee integrates seamlessly, leading to really complex subtleties. A very enjoyable coffee stout, one of the best I've had, so creamy and rich, robust and yet delicate. Very solid beer from Mikkeller, would definitely recommend it.
