500ml bottle poured into a snifter. Bottle provided by bs870621345, thanks Bobby!
A - Pours a midnight black with the slightest traces of dark chocolate highlight around the edges. Builds a big, 2.5-finger, mocha colored head. Head is frothy and thick, and barely moves even after a few minutes. Great retention and good lacing, which swatches around the glass.
S - Smell is, as the name would suggest, very heavily geared towards the coffee. In fact, it's hard to get much else after the coffee due to its extremely bold aroma. Hidden underneath is a sweetness that is like freshly baked fudge made with really dark chocolate. There's a little bit of hoppiness here as well.
T - The taste takes the boldness from the nose and squeezes a few more espresso shots in it. The coffee jolt really hits you, and even after a long day and it being around 11PM, my eyes started to open a little wider. This would be an excellent beer to drink to kick off an early tailgate (go Steelers!).Thankfully the flavor is a bit more balanced than the nose, as the malts start to shine midway through to cut the coffee and add a smooth sweetness to the beer which introduces a formidable chocolate presence. At the back-end there's a nice kick, due in part of a combo of hops and a slight alcohol bite. The finish is a pleasant mixture between the alcohol, hop, and coffee bitterness with the bittersweet chocolate intertwined.
M - Mouthfeel is moderately heavy with medium carbonation. This beer definitely covers the palate and introduces the entire mouth to a new coffee revolution. Smooth, but not as silky as the description would have you believe.
D - Drinkability is moderately high. I had no problem drinking the whole bottle, and the alcohol isn't imposing, but I was kind of expecting a bit more out of this beer. As it is now, I would compare it to Troeg's Java Head with a bit of coffee infusion. It has similar texture, hop finish, and transition from coffee to malts, but more robust. Not a bad beer, but similar alternatives are out there for a much more reasonable price.

500ML bottle poured into a pint glass.
extremely dark brown, close to black. head is medium and apparent. Look is almost perfect. Strong coffee aroma on the nose. Taste is an abundance of roasted coffee and oats. Slight chocolate too. Mouthfeel is medium carbonation, not too thick and not too light. Just where it should be. Alcohol i snot apparent whatsoever. I'm really a fan of this type of beer, FBS being one of my faves, and this is a great substitute. This is an outstanding beer.
