This stout beer pays tribute to the Butternuts Brewery’s former life as a dairy farm. It’s a more drinkable version of the Stout breed than its heavy, boorish and smelly European sisters. We use lactose sugar for body and mouthfeel; not too strong, not too viscous at 4.9% abv. Unlike a true bovine it has a malty, roasty aroma and a dry finish but no tail or teats, and leaves no unsightly cow pies laying around the yard for you to step in.

This is listed as a sweet stout but has a considerable amount of bitterness. The sweetness is in the background with the outstanding mouthfeel.
Deep roasty stout, nicely carbonated that creates a slightly bitter dry mouthfeel. Very drinkable with hints of chocolate, biscuit, and herbal character.

Can from Total Wine - Henderson. Dark brown pour with fast subsiding head. Aroma is mostly roast grains, some nuttiness. taste also features the roast grains, very minor notes of coffee. Kind of watery.

Butternuts best beer. It is sort of a mediocre milk stout but meets the qualifications of everything that is expected from the style.

Pitch black, with a creamy light brown head. Great retention and lacing!
Smells like roasted malts, dark chocolate, brown sugar, burnt toast, coffee, and vanilla. A tantalizing aroma.
Tastes like dark chocolate, cacao, malted milk balls, burnt toast, toffee, black coffee, and vanilla. Smooth, lightly sweet, but with a decidedly roasty coffee bitter finish.
Creamy feel; medium, medium carbonated, slick.
A top tier milk stout. Tastes ridiculously good for its abv. Amazing.

Pours dark. Thin head. Coffee aroma. Light malt body with heavy bitter coffee finish. Better than expected. Love the packaging.

I taste sweet milk chocolate, slight cream taste from the lactose milk sugar, the body is about medium I would say, this beer definitely fits the bill of an milk stout & at 4.9% abv you can put back 3 or 4 of these cans easily in a session. Cheers! B

Best of their beers!
a) Pours a dark chocolate colored body with limp head that laces not so much.
s) Roasty, milky sweet, chocolate.
t) Starts firm enough, starts roasty, with a lots of lactose and creamy chocolate flavor that balances with a bitter edge. Nice.
f) Thinner than I l'd like, mod. carb. but ok.
o) A pleasant light stout finishing mid-pack. Sessionable low ABV, plenty of flavor.
