12 oz can.
They say the fish design on the can follows their somewhat random marketing process they call "non-sensical ideation." Nice.
Included as part of a massive BIF package from IBUnit63..thanks again!
Butternuts is a new brewery to me, but their website looks pretty crazy and it's an IPA, so let's give it a whirl..
Pours a slightly hazy light amber color with a pretty calm head of white foam.
Mellow toffee aroma..not much hops noticed here, or anything really.
Sweet malt flavor up-front with the hops kind of playing a supporting role. There is a delayed citrus aspect to this, but as a whole the hop flavor is not very pronounced. Apparently this stuff is dry-hopped for two weeks before canning, but overall I think the hop flavor should be bumped up a bit. This is more like a pale ale than an IPA.
Smooth mouthfeel, medium-bodied, really easy going down.
Again, this would be better classified as a pale ale in my mind. It may have a nearly 7% abv, but the hops are just not what they should be for an American IPA. That being said, I have to give credit where credit is due, because I found the malt aspect pretty tasty and it was quite smooth.

Ok, I don't even usually full review, but I drank this then looked it up and 72 overall is absolutely not true IMO. It says farmhouse IPA right on the damn can. All the reviews complain about not being hoppy enough, but it plainly says "all malt" right there. It tastes like a decent farmhouse ale with some east coast hops. I don't love it, maybe would buy again if super fresh, but it's an 82, not 72. Cheers and drink responsibly!

a - Yellow orange color with 1" head
s - Strong malt smell
t - Very light on the hops, would not classify as an IPA. A bland taste to it.
m - Very watered down, and bland.
o - Not an IPA, too watered down, and does not have any taste to it.
Was sampled at a tasting, and would not purchase in the future.

Poured from a 12 oz can in to my Notorious BIG pint glass.
A- Pours a murky orange with a single finger of off-white head that leaves behind some decent lacing.
S- Faint hops and a little citrus. Not powerful at all.
T- Pretty watery for an IPA. Standard notes for the style, and not a whole lot more going on here.
M- The mouthfeel actually isn't too bad, there's just not enough flavor backing it up. Adequate carbonation and slightly creamy.
O- I'd drink it over BMC, but it's nothing great. Pretty neat can though. The Butternuts sampler 12 pack isn't terrible if you're looking for something to drink all night with some variety.

12 oz. can. No detectable freshness date.
Slightly cloudy, dark orange-copper. Puffy, thick, marshmallowy, light khaki head. Fruity malts (apple, grape juice) mingle with citrusy, herbal, piny hops. Kind of blah.
Toasted malts and herbal bitterness up front. Singed caramel and light brown sugar sweetness. A little fruity. Bitterness increases in the finish: herbal, minty, and resinous. Medium body with some lively carbonation. A mediocre IPA, but it will do in a pinch.

Served from a can. i do not know exactly how old this beer is. My wife purchased it because, "the can looked cool." She got it from the new Total Wine here in CT, so it could be ~6 months old for all I know.
A: Looks good. A hazy deep orange with some floaties. Decent white head with good lacing. Looks great.
S: Nothing really but malt, clove, and banana I am guessing are from their yeast and possible being old.
T: Toasty flavors, a little sesame. Nothing upfront but malt... but the back end and finish are rather dry and bitter (like an actual IPA?). They should drop the caramalt, imo.
M: . The mouthfeel was pretty good. Good carbonation
