Nice little set up here. A market and deli with gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads, pizza and more. Quality selction of bottled micros and imports. Several equally interesting handles (6?) for draught beer. Fill a growler to go or stay and have a pint...or both. Outdoor (sidewalk) seating during warmer temps. Enjoy quality brew and the local Park Ave. scenery ;)

Magnolia's is set on Rochester's Park Ave. One of those streets where the beautiful people go to show the world how beautiful they are. Being the ugliest guy in there, I expected to feel uncofortable, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the service is very polite. With a small selection, they keep only quality. You won't find Macro beers in here. I settled down with a Roast beef sandwich and a CB's beer. The best part of the whole thing is, I am greeted with a smile. I don't know if it's because they know me there or what (I know everyone in Rochester, it's a curse I have to live with), but a smile goes a long way with me.

This is a remarkable little place right smack dab in the upscale Park St. District. It is primarily a deli/cafe, but they have a reasonably comprehensive selection of bottled and draught beer to complement a wonderful lunch and early dinner menu. The place is rather petite; maybe six or seven deli style blond wood tables set along the windows looking out over Park St. There's a small open alcove, but they were doing construction on the lighting over in that section; but it would be a nice place to sit and avoid the late afternoon sun that bathes the other tables (when there is sun in Rochester, which ain't all that often).
The bottle beers are stacked interstingly opposite the windows right in front of several refrigerators. The selection was a mix: some local micros--Southern Tier, Ithaca, but there were some Rogues and Victory to be had as well as a number of Maine selections (Allegash, Shipyard). Also, Magnolia's maintains seven taps--I had a Rohrbach's Scotch Ale, and there was a Custom Brewed EPA available, among others.
The service was quite good--genial and unpretentious, as was the food: excellent asparagus soup and a wood-fired pizza. Magnolia's is no pub, but it's a great place to have a light meal and a good beer.

There is something distincly old-world about the Park Ave. district, which makes it very homey and neighborhood like. Plenty of small delis, resturaunts and cafes line the streets with outside seating for warm weather. Magnolia's is just one of these spots. Spacious interior with a modern kind of feel. Along the back wall is the cooler with a very decent selection of beer for a deli. Rogue, Allagash 750's, Unibroue, Victory etc. and 6 tap lines with some CBC's. Food was very decent with tons of good veggie options. Great atmosphere and a wonderful find for those in search of a little libation and tasty food.

Right down the street from me. I have been here a few times mostly to get a panini or deli sandwich. They also sell off-the-wall beers in six packs, bombers, and 750 mL corked bottles. Rogue, Ommegang, Unibroue, St Burnardus in the singles. Regular beers in the sixers: Stella, Sierra Navada, Ithica, Southern Tier, Brooklyn, etc. They have several rohrbach beers on tap (which they feature) and I believe it is the whole lineup. The food is great, the service is great, and the beer is always cold and fresh. One time I came in with my girlfriend for a beer (stayed for a few) and they gave us free chips the whole time. Really cool atmosphere/people.
edit: The food is reasonably priced but a lot of the single bottles of beer are way overpriced. Sam Smith's nut brown just got bumped up to $5.29 + tax and deposite for the 550 mL and ALL of the ommegangs/unibroues are $7.99 and up.

I live really close to this place so its a nice short walk to pick up a bomber of rogue or a six pack of something like sierra nevada. Its not a huge selection but its good (Chimay, ommegang, ithaca).
The atmosphere is kinda snooty but its not bad. The service is average but waiting to get your check can take forever especially if the girls behind the counter start chatting each other up. The sammies on the other hand are phenomenal. Try the park avenue B if you like sauerkraut. It's not cheap here.
