From notes, Reviewed as part of a Wig-and-Penathon tasting Sat Oct 1st, between myself and mrs heygeebee

Pours a clear golden straw colour, half a finger of fluffy white head, lacing good.

Strong initial aromas of floral hops and citrus.

Taste is an unusually hoppy blend with citrus/lemon. Crisp, but with some malts on back palate

Mouthfeel is watery, with low carbonation as per hand pump.

Overall, a very unusual beer. The hoppy taste is at odds with the 8 degrees serving temp, and low carbonation from hand pump. Almost like a watery warm SNPA. Can't make my mind up.

This will be reviewed as an APA as that is how it is marketed.

A nice golden pour which clears to a nice clear beer. Tight white head with good retention and nice lacing.

Lots of hops in the aroma with plenty of citric, grapefruit notes. A slight vegetal off-note is present.

A nice light bitterness works well with the creamy, citrus flavours which mark the mid palate. The light bitterness lingers. A good, tasty, sweet malt profile holds up well.

A medium body is lent additional substance by a smooth, creamy low carbonation level.

Tasty, refreshing and smooth. This is a solid APA from the Wig and Pen.

Pours a good golden amber colour, nice pale ale colour. Very slow carbonation, almost like the bubbles are on weed or something. Very thin but fair head. Looks OK.

Nose is nice, slightly bitter with a whisper of hops, and a nice big apricot sweetness, very juicy and succulent aroma.

Taste is far more bitter and hoppy, actually rather unbalanced. There's a hint of fruit that lingers throughout, particularly on the front palate, but there's a surge of a sharp bitterness that almost strangles it, and it's that that lingers on the finish. Mouthfeel is OK, not much happening but body is decently full.

The bitterness isn't too bad a flavour, but it destroys the balance and makes this overall a bit disappointing.

Pours a clear amber, with a tight thin head.
Lovely fresh cereal nose (reminding me of it's counterpart at Redoak).
Dominant citrus flavour - grapefruit. Cascade being used, which is unusual for style. More like a cask-conditioned APA than EPA.
A good drop, with a good bitter finish.

Orange copper body, with a good off-white head. Excellent lacing. A damn good looking pale ale.

Amazing fruit nose. Peaches and lemon. On the very edges there's a cutting phenolic aroma which almost hints of housepaint. It's weird, but it beautifully combines with the sweetness. That is one hell of a nose. Amazingly complex.

The taste, however, is somewhat disappointing. It has the fragrant sweetness, but almost none of the complexity. The palate dissipates to blandness very quickly. It's pleasant, but quite unexciting. What a shame.

A decent beer that shows great promise, but disappoints.
