I decided to drop by Rogue on the way down the coast. The location is pretty gorgeous and the exterior of the facility looks very cool. Once you head inside it seemed a little disjointed, but you get to walk through part of the brewery and head up the gift shop and bar. The gift shop was pretty cool, great selection of beer/clothes/misc goodies. The bar is pretty plain. It was small and nothing special. I decided to go for a flight, which was decent, it didn't blow me away though. I was going to buy a bottle of their blackberry big barrel release, but after sampling it I decided against it. They had a really cool book/binder that contained a run down of the history, beers and brewers. It was nice to flip through while I drank. I bought some swag and they had a great selection. The service was mediocre, at best. I waited a long time for it being such a small place. I didn't try any of the food, but it looked good.

I would recommend checking this place out and I would go again, but I wasn't blown away by it. Their beer has always been a little hit or miss for me, so that doesn't help either.

Wife and I stopped here on our way to Portland and it was a nice treat. The selection of beers was quite impressive which included many of their production line brews and several experimental beers and a few seasonals. We had 3 samples and a few appetizers but I don't remember the food so I won't comment. The service was pretty bad, it was 630pm on a weekday with maybe 12 other people in the joint and we waited 30-45min before the waitress even took our order, and then 20-30 to refill water and bring next sampler. Sadly this is what stood out to me the most that night despite the amazing beer.

I currently live in California, love Oregon, and miss it dearly. I used to live there and had many a Shakespeare Stout (and other Rogue 22's) purchased from the QFC near my house. I now live in California and I went on a Northern California-Oregon Coast road trip and visited the Rogue Brewery in Newport.

Our 2-day experience at the Newport Rogue (headquarters) was horrible. The beer is very expensive and they seem to cater to tourists and people who don't respect beer. I was right at the brewery and beers were $6.00 each. Yikes. As advertised on the board, I ordered a Shakespeare Stout on Nitro and it was delicious. One of the best beers I've ever had. The flavor, consistency, and lacing down the glass was incredible. Wow! I wanted another. So what did they do? They gave me a non-nitro Shakespeare, thinking I would have no idea. It was so obvious, but I ordered a taster tray with Mocha Porter and Shakespeare Stout on Nitro to compare. They gave me the Nitro on the taster tray - you could see the lacing down the glass and the taste was so smooth and delicious. When I ordered another Shakespeare on Nitro they gave me the coarse non-Nitro one again. Finally, I decided to go to the bar and I ordered one and he gave me the Nitro version of it. He refused to fill my growler with the Shakespeare Stout nitro and said that nitro's don't work in growlers (I don't know if that's true or not - but I would like to know).

Either way, sell what you say you're selling. Don't lie to people. I had a better experience at Russian River Brewery and Eel River Brewery. Good service, good food, good beer.

Stayed at the bed and beer for me and my wive's one year anniversary. Since i'm also a rogue citizen it only cost us about $80 bucks a night, plus all my pints where half off. What made me want to go in the first place was Rogue's Brew master, personally shipped me a bottle of Chatoe Rogue pumpkin patch ale. (It was only available on the West Coast this year) The staff was extremely friendly at the bed and beer, ale houses, and the brewery. For anyone who is a fan of rogue you must take a chance to visit the brewery. Coming from Ohio, the selection probably seemed much better to me, but it definitely had the Ohio breweries beat on selection.

First of all, I love rogue beers in general. My girlfriend and I made a special trip while in Portland to go to Newport just to go here. It was worth it! Atmosphere was very good. We got to take a look at the brewery. Quality of beers were great( as to be expected). Almost all the beers we tried were very good and they had special beers as well that were not readily available. The food was good and it was the only part that was not exceptional. Prices of beer were very reasonable. Food was a little overpriced.

Went here for a late lunch on October 2011. The place was quite packed as it was the weekend, though we got a seat within 15 minutes or so in the bar. This was my second time and the bar area is relatively small and might only fit 30 people at most, but there is a whole restaurant section around the back which I did not get to see. Atmosphere was not bad, you get a view of the bay on one end and the brewery silo things on the other side. The list of beers available on tap is quite a lot (~30-40), which means that you usually would have to get more than one flight. Some are average, but their big beers such as the double chocolate stout is phenomenal. I have also had some of these beers out of bottles in California and they definitely taste much better here. I enjoyed the food as well as I am a fan of the classic comfort food (burgers, fries, onion rings) and they don't mess with the recipes too much. The bartenders were surprisingly attentive considering there were only two of them serving over 20 people. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable experience and you cannot pass this up if you are stopping by Newport (unless you're a Rogue hater of course).

I couldn't justify not visiting Rogue Ales while in Newport for work.

Atmosphere - Entering the restaurant requires a short walk through the brewery. Some may find this inconvenient, but I like it. I thought walking under the tanks and past stacked barrels added to the atmosphere of the place. After the brewery comes the gift shop (where lots of brews are on sale by bottle) and the restaurant entrance is in the gift shop.
The tables are decorated with Dead Guy Ale six-pack boxes, which contain condiments (ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper in beer-bottle shakers, etc.) Empty growlers also decorate the tables, but serve no practical purpose. All the lighting fixtures in the room are made of kegs. Several presumably-operational wooden garage doors are also present above tables (with tracks and everything). The room itself is not the nicest place you could enjoy a beer, but it's not bad.
Out the windows to the north, the bridge over the inlet of water between the ocean and Yaquina Bay is visible. The northern windows also overlook many docked boats. It's a nice view--characteristic of the locale. These windows are also decorated with a few glasses and many bottles.
The southern windows provide a view of the brewery area through which guests walk to get in.
In short, the room is average and the view is pretty good.

Quality - The quality of both food and beer is very good. I had the pulled pork sliders with a mocha porter, a chocolate stout, and a chipotle ale. No complaints.

Service - The waitress was helpful. She seemed to know enough about the beer selection at least to provide an accurate description of everything on tap. She also checked fairly frequently to ask if we needed anything and to take our dishes/glasses.

Selection - Over 30 beers are available on tap. The food menu also seemed pretty complete for this type of establishment.

Food - Not bad, but nothing extraordinary.

Value - The beer is very good, but a bit pricey on tap. The beers I ordered were $5.50 and $5.75 per pint. That's pretty close to what they charge for some 750-ml bottles. Pricey for tap.

Worth a visit. My main complaint is the prices: beer doesn't get much better than this, but prices don't go much higher, either. If you happen to be in Newport anyway, you probably want to visit Rogue.

After traveling around portland it was time to hit the coast on my beercation.

I have been to brewers on the bay serveral times. But i though i would give a review this time around.

This is a working brewery, you do have to snake through the brewery before hitting the pub.

The beer selection is top notch if your a rogue fan. They also have serveral beers from the smallery breweries they own.

The food is really good. I would say they some some of the best clam chowder on the coast and thats saying alot because i eat the chowder all over.

The snake river kobe blue balls on the meat ball sub are great.

Stopped by with lots of excitement. As a rogue nation member I was excited to visit our capital. Unfortantly it just didn't live up to my dreams. There was nothing there that I can't buy back at the coop in Boise beerwise. Staff acted as if we were in their way. They were excited about the new glow in the dark growlers and not interested anyone else. One member almost took my son out with his hand truck, he stared at my son until my son said sorry for being in the way....this was all in the middle of the gift shop. We left an unwelcoming place fast. My wife said in the car..."wow that sucked". Yes yes indeed it did.

After a long day of traveling from the East Coast the sight of the brewery under the bridge was a welcome respite. Best of all there are a couple of hotels within walking distance to the brewery.

The entrance to the bar and restaurant is through the brewery itself, nothing like the smell of a brewery to get you going. A small gift shop with Rogue merchandise and beers is on the first floor once you get through the brewery and before you head upstairs to the bar and dining area.

We visited 2 nights midweek so there was no wait for seating and the service was excellent. Several tables overlook Yaquina Bay though in general the atmosphere was more utilitarian, which for us is perfect. We came for beer. It is also kid-friendly with food options and a Lego table.

The beer selection was outstanding, with standard Rogue offerings, specialty/seasonals as well as a few guest brews. Altogether it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend stopping by if are in or passing through Newport.
