Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale - Rogue Ales

Pours a clear, bright dark orange-brown with a fluffy light tan head nearly 2" high. It settles to a solid 1/2" of almost creamy goodness.
Smell is .... breakfast! Maple, light smoke (bacon), sweet, malt. Buttermilk pancakes slathered in butter with maple syrup and bacon or maybe a maple-iced doughnut with sausage. I may have a new breakfast staple. Or not. A most amazing nose.
Taste is smoked malt, maple, sweet and tangy, light malt and a touch of hops and nut in the aftertaste. Fairly well balanced with smoke stepping ahead of the rest slightly.
Medium bodied, medium-plus effervescence. a bit of a drying finish. Smoke lingers with a touch of hops. A decent coating on the tongue is the only drawback to me.
This is really good, probably the best Rogue beer I've ever had except the Dead Guys.
