the juniper doesn't really come out as much as it should I don't think in this brew, not nearly as out there as the john john ale, but still a decent pale ale for what it is. hazy brassy colored with a short white head, rather generic, yet still really appealing with a little foam running down the side of my frosted pint glass. slightly fruity nose, slightly astringent, slightly bland. American malted barley and west coast hops in lower dose for the style. the flavor is balanced, but more malty than hoppy I think, a touch of toasted grain bread to it, and the juniper comes in at the end with a fresh pine medicinal vibe. its not out of place really, just sort of a funny addition. I much prefer the john john for juniper, although I didn't love that beer either. bright carbonation and a drinkably medium body, if it wasn't so funny in the stomach id have several. not my favorite thing from rogue, but I certainly appreciate the attempt.

Cool orange glow to the beer, looks like a nice ipa, not unlike their brutal bitter ipa. Smell wasn't really all that persuasive as juniper. More pine-esque, which might be my confusion of trees, or more likely, the hop profile standing out a bit.
Taste, like an English pale ale with some funky adjuncts (and not horse blanket funky). Other than the Amarillo hops, I think the hopping is kind of less than helpful or 'good'. The bitterness on this one is just weird. Like a combination of copper and plastic, definitely not juniper.
What is most disappointing about the mouthfeel is that the beer neither tastes like juniper, nor a pale ale. Its just some weird amalgamation of a beer that doesn't know where it is going, where its been or what is inside of it. Ultimately, it is less than average for a pale ale, a Rogue beer, or an herb/spice beer. Pass. I think I like Rogue generally more than the average beeradvocate, but definitely not this one. Hand me a chocolate stout instead please.

Poured a beautiful Bright Golden color with a tight 2 finger head and some decent lacing. The aroma was faint but nice with a hint of spice, hops adn malt all balanced but far from overdone or in your face. Taste was also subtle and that was not what i was expecting. Slight spice from the Juniper, light on th ebitterness but it was there. the malts were very well balanced with the bitterness and slight sweetness. Refreshing and light to medium bodied. Overall I really liked this beer much more than I was expecting.

Singer finger white head on a hazy golden with slight crimson hues. Aroma is nice but faint sweet juniper aroma with a slight almost noble hop like aroma. Flavor is mildly hoppy with a subtle nobel hop, musty almost wet sock hop flavor. Light malt. Moderate to high carbonation and light to medium body. A nice beer if u like noble hop tasting beers.

Review from notes taken on 8/27/11. On tap at World of Beer Fort Myers. Poured into a shaker pint.
Pours a hazy golden caramel with a 1 finger white head. Nice lacing.
Smell: Earthy hops, pine and a touch of sweetness. Fairly weak aroma.
Taste: Sweet berries and a touch of hops up front followed by malt in the middle and ending with bitter citrus at the finish. Aftertaste is fairly bitter.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: High drinkability. You could knock a few of these without any problem.
Overall: Pretty good beer overall. Not my favorite Rogue offering, but it's worth a shot.

Had on tap at the Rogue event at Novare Res.
The color is pale with a slight golden color. The head forms and dissipates to the glasses edge.
The aroma is pale malts through out. No juniper, where is the juniper.
The taste is a pale ale slight malts up front, biscuit with a slight drying finish. The taste of juniper comes in but it is very light.

Just happened upon a 1/2 bbl of this at the store today. Checked BA and decided to pull the trigger. Not sorry at all!!!
In a tall champagne-beer glass...
A: Deep gold with a hazy hue. Thin head that settles into some wispy lacing and a few rings.
S: that's one fine quaff. Not hoppy overpowering, you can smell some other non-hop notes. Citrus and very very faint pine, bread & maybe a slight grass smell and some light fresh juniper notes blend in almost innocuously.
T: lemon grass, then bitter orange, bright juniper finish with light malt.
M: medium bodied. Very SMOOTH and moderately dry. Extremely good!
Overall, very solid brew. It's so subtle, that I'd have to say that if you didn't tell most people it was classified as a spiced beer they'd never know the difference, thinking it was a uniquely hopped pale ale.

This ale was a great choice for me. If you're looking for something that isnt too heavy and has a really clean finish I highly suggest this choice. I'm not big on the real hoppy stuff, but I do want to taste it. This was perfect for that. Like i said it was had a clean finish, and was very refreshing. The place I was at had alot of taps, and many more I wanted to try, but i couldnt get enough of this one, i had 3 and was completely satisfied just having tasted this one.

On-tap at the Rogue Public House in San Francisco. On to the beer:
Electric orange in color, topped off a big frothy head which leaves thick lacing on the glass. Nose is subtle, light aromas of juniper make their way around.
You never know with spiced beers how dominating the spice will be. The blend of juniper and pale ale in this concoction leans towards the pale ale side. Lemon peel and citrus notes all around, some juniper comes through. There's a small dash of pine thrown in. The soft mouthfeel helps make this a drinkable, enjoyable ale.
Solid ale made to drink at nearly any hour. I've had tastier beer before, yet this beer put me in a good mood during lunchtime.

On tap at the Yard House in KC, KS.
A - Poured a clear, golden-orange color with a small, white head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy rings of lace on the pint glass.
S - It of pine and what I assume is juniper. Also, slight caramel aromas.
T - It has a nice burnt toast maltiness with pine and juniper flavors. A touch of spiciness, too.
M - It was very crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale with a dry, clean finish.
O - This was pretty good. I've always passed on it in liquor stores but it was worth a try.

Got this beer also at Yardhouse poured into a pint glass.
This beer is very light yellow is color with a very small amount of light head. It's almost fully transparent, with slight carbonation.
The smell is very interesting. Has a spicy and tangy smell to it with a little bit of hoppyness to it.
The taste is suprisingly abundant for how light this beer is. Lots of spice and a bit of hops.
I could drink this beer all day long but I don't think I'd really want to. I would lilt it to have a bit more flavor and punch to it.

Reviewing from memory - from previous night. On Tap into pint glass.
A: Amber / dark honey color -- it may have been lighter but the lighting was dim at the bar. Noticeable carbonation and one finger head.
S: Some sweet malts, and light pine hop bitterness.
T: Sweet maltiness, some citrus hop bitterness. Maybe some peppery/spiciness in there too.
M: Medium/lighter body. Light carbonation. Crisp and a little dry.
D: Nice aroma and flavors. You can slug this one back. I had a several of these at the bar.

This beer is gold in color. When it is poured it has your typical white foam head. The beer is flora in aroma from the juinper berries. A balanced, crisp, clean malt flavor. And has a slight spicy flavor and a heavy dose of floral junipers at the end. Easy to drink.

Poured a hazy dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate floral hop and small malt aroma. Medium body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy spicy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Pours a slightly hazy, golden color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of strong spice (juniper), slight wheat, slight hop, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of yeast. Fits the style of a Herbed/Spiced ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong spice (juniper), slight sweet malt, slight hop, and a hint of yeast. Overall, very strongly spiced, as far as Juniper beer goes, it's the best I've had ... and only.

A: A lager-like appearance, showing a yellowish gold with a fluffy off-white head that laces itself down the side of the glass.
S: There wasn't a lot to smell here, some faint malts and an ester-y alcohol tinge.
T: A nice bitter start, which quickly lead to some reserved but roasty malts, and then little aftertaste.
M: The mouth feel seems to be where the hops come through, very immediate in the initial bitterness and carbonation, but leaving little behind.
D: Not at all unpleasant, but not enough here to make me crave more.

I had Rogue's Yellow Snow on tap at the Brew Kettle on 12/23/2008. They served it to me in a standard pint glass.
Yellow Snow didn't pour a yellow color. It instead poured a lightly hazy golden amber color. On top of this gold amber brew was a good 1/2 an inch head of pure white foam. This head of foam had decent retention that left behind a string of foamy white rings, one single streak of lace, and a hand full of white spots of lace.
The aroma was mildly hoppy with candied tart grapefruit, a touch of bitter citrus hops, a quick splash of pine needles, a few citrus fruits, and then this aroma finishes up with a small touch of sweet candied yeast. It could have used a small dash of toasted malts, but it was fine where the aroma stood.
This IPA wasn't going to mess around. It started off with the bitter and dry citrus hops. The hops strength wasn't mild or strong. The hops were smack dab in the middle of being mild and strong. After the hops calm down, in comes some tart grapefruit, a few citrus fruits, a splash of lemon zest, and a subtle touch of toasted caramel malts. Don't expect for your taste buds to be assaulted by hops.
This was a medium bodied beer that contained a medium sized hoppy aftertaste of bitter and dry citrus hops, juicy citrus fruits, a hint of toasted malts, and a splash of lemon zest. These hops in the aftertaste will linger on for a few minutes.
This is one of Rogue's better beers. I didn't have problems with it. I might go for another one these. A growler of this might be too much for me. A draft pint or a 22 oz bomber bottle should be sufficient.

Had as Yellow Snow Ale.
Pours a clear orangy amber with an off-white head. Rich, malty, spicy and slightly hoppy aroma is quite appetizing. Flavor is malty and spicy and surprisingly hoppy, more so than the aroma suggests. Texture is pleasingly smooth.

On tap at Summits, Snellville, GA. Served in a traditional American pint glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy-yellow orange beer with a half-finger of average-retention white head that leaves solid sheets of sticky lacing. Yellow snow indeed!
Aroma: Similar to the mouth (see below), though with a little more of a malt edge - mainly just grass, light pine, simple sweetness, light citrus. A very simple tasting beer.
Taste: Surprisingly nondescript. Malty, biscuity, largely neutral, with a piney, slightly citrusy hop note. Not a lot of bitterness, nor a lot of hop notes, and the malt profile isn't very good, either.
Mouthfeel: Medium level of effervescence, an average body, and a little uneven. Pretty average.
Drinkability: A surprisingly unenjoyable beer - not much at all going on here. Not that anything was offensive: just very bland. Give it a try if you must, but I likely won't be havin' it again.

$3 pint special at the Long Room.
Pale gold with a slight haze. Thin cap of foam, the lacing was nice looking, it formed in concentric rings down the glass. Typical pale ale aroma of light bready malt. Really hard to pull out the juniper based on smell alone.
Light bodied with a decent feel, pale malt, caramel, a dry finish with a bare hint of pine and herb. I haven't tasted juniper berries before, but there wasn't much in the way of fruit, just dry herbals with a mild element of bitterness.
This was an easy pint to drink, refreshing and fairly well put together.

Appearance- Pours a nice amber color with a medium sized and medium bodied tan colored head that laces the glass very nicely on the way down.
Smell- Smells of sweet malts, some juniper spicyness, some citrisy hops.
Taste- nice mix of the flavors. The malt base is good and made better by some earthy and citrisy hop flavors and some spicy juniper berry taste at the end.
M- Very nice feel to it with the right amount of carbonation could have had a little more body to it
D: Very drinkable, dont know if i would order it again, left me wanting more flavor
