A - Pours a murky brown with a tinge of amber. Two finger tan head.
S - Sweet malts, sugary caramel and dark fruits pop on the nose.
T - Bready malts and pretty sweet just like the nose. The flavor of an old ale doesn't come across as bold as I'd like.
M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
O - It's an old ale lite :-)

The pour is dark brown in color with an off-white/tan head. Sweet caramel and toffee malts with a nice creamy note to it. A hint of vanilla, bread, and some mild earthiness. The flavor is quite sweet, as expected. Toffee, caramel, and toasted bread are the primary flavors. A bit of brown sugar, some light hop character, but overall, this is fairly one-dimensional and not all that great.

Awesome looking, 750 ml ceramic swing top. Very nice.
Pours a very dark body, pretty much jet black. Big and frothy, tan head. It builds a nice defense and isn't going anywhere.
Creamy milk chocolate and hazelnut on the nose. Mocha coffee aromas. Not much else to say, but it smells great.
Creamy and nutty, with flavors of almonds and hazelnuts. Sweet, milk chocolate, with a roasty, toasty finish. Light, earthy hops are barely present. Drinks like an imperial brown ale. Very nice.
This is a perfect example of what Rogue can do, and yet get it wrong. This beer is very good, but the pricing is way off. Don't get me wrong, it was worth every penny in retrospect, but this is just priced way too high and will scare too many people away. The only reason I picked it up was because it was on sale for pretty damn cheap at a local grocery store. If you don't care about the price, pick it up! It's a great beer. But Rogue should learn something from this; you're alienating too many people with your pricing!

A: The beer pours a very dark brown. Almost like a dark soda color. When you hold it up to the light I can see a very dark ruby color. It poured with about two fingers of head that disappeared quickly.
S: Smell strong malts, caramel, and a little dark fruit smell
T: A nice balance of malt, caramel, dark chocolate, nuttiness, and a nice creamy flavor. I just keep picturing Barq's Creme Soda.
M: The carbonation gives a nice bite probably why I keep picturing Barq's. It has a nice warming sensation to my mouth.
O: a very well balanced and enjoyable brew. Its a bit pricey, but I purchased it a month ago so the sting of the price has faded in the background.

I found this pick-up at a local store, and I was pretty happy to find this limited edition beer. It was pretty pricy at around $25. I saved it to enjoy with the Super Bowl. It seemed like a good match with the presentation of a ceramic bottle with a swing-top. This is one of the few bottles that I will be holding on to for presentation.
This beer pours very dark brown with almost no head. Whatever minimal foam there was present dissipated immediately.
The flavor is a very good example of American strong ale. It is very strong, but not overwhelming. You get a lot of flavor. However, it falls short of the ABV listed on the bottle.
After the fact, the flavor eases off with balance. It doesn't hit strong for any single contributed flavor.
This was a good beer. I am glad I picked up a bottle, but it was a little pricy for what I got.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with a light beige, short-lived head.
Smell: A malty amalgam of toast, chocolate, and caramel given a small sprinkling of alcohol and with a fruity fig and raisin note undertone.
Taste: A sweetish taste of generously toasted malts, caramel, and a hunk of baker's chocolate. Slight perceived silky, milky accent and a hint of nuttiness. Moderate degree of dark fruitiness. Softly leafy hops, though really not too much hop character or bitterness. Retains the initial maltiness on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A well-mannered, malty, strong ale. However, I'm very happy to not have been to foot the bill for this steep-priced bottle.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a reddish dark brown with a finger of off white head. The head fades to a ring around the edge of the bowl.
Smell: Sweet malt, lots of over ripe dark fruit. Some vanilla in there as well.
Taste: Lots of bready malt. Quite sweet with some dark fruit notes. There is a very mild vanilla and caramel note, but the malt and fruity notes dominate.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.
Overall: This is kind of a strong brown ale. Decent taste, but not great or anything. Probably wouldn't search it out again.
