Simply fantastic tasting lager, I'm glad I grabbed a fresh bottle with the new neck label with Dare*Risk*Dream printed. God knows Rogue doesn't use any freshness info on their bottles, this was bought in season approaching St. Paddy's Day. Really a beer I've drank on tap and bottle in the past but have never written down any thoughts on it. APpearance is simple fizzy yellow beer at first site, but then you notice a slight haze to the straw golden body. Actual hop haze going on with a creamy texture fluffy white head that sticks around for awhile. Lacing is the same forms intricate chunky layers that add to the eye candy. Aroma has a mild rolling layer of citrus/herbal/grassy mild skunky hop notes going on. A nice dose of cereal grains backing up the malt profile. Flavor is a nice mix of malts and hops some would consider this boring, I think it proves what great brewers they have at Rogue this is a simple style flavor wise but extremely tough to brew. There's no hiding any sulfur or off flavors like diacetyl in this one. This is a well brewed clean crisp drinking beer, with herbal grassy hops from their own supply and no Pac Man yeast to create the typical Rogue house flavor. A touch of green apple tartness in the finish, but really a nice grassy/bready biscuit malt layer going on. Nothing off putting completely easy drinking experience, medium to light bodied lager carbonation is lively definitely doesn't fall flat, probably one of the better lagers widely available from a craft brewer. Up there with Sam Adams Noble Pils, Rogue Uber Pils, and Sierra Nevada Summerfest.

Pours with a nice sized bright white head over a cloudy, pale golden body, with some carbonation flowing up. Touch of foamy lacing.
Aromas are fairly earthy and grainy - whole wheat bread. Light hops in the aroma.
Fairly creamy on the palate, with light bitter lemon, metallic tanginess, and naval oranges. Very smooth mouthfeel, and quite rich for the style, with a low carbonation level.
Drinkability is very good on this one - very tasty, rich (relative), and creamy for the style.

Appearance: Poured clear & gold a little more than a fingers worth of head. The head retained nicely and eventually craterd to resemble a melting marshmallow.
Smell: Light resembles a traditional euro style lager, but seems to have something else. I just can't put my finger on it.
Taste: Surprisingly good, bready and citrusy (primarily lemon).
Mouthfeel: Smooth and very carbonated can feel the bubble as I drink.
Drinkability: It's crisp, clean and quite refreshing. This one may become a summer time staple. I can imagine sitting on the porch watching a lightning storm and enjoying one of these.

Poured a nice pale dull golden abler with a nice two finger head of frothy and fizzy lace that quickly faded and left behind nothing more then a thin film with no side glass representation. Smell was ll grain with a touch of euro hops, but mostly your classic light lager smell. The flavor was actually more then decent which suprised me. A nice crisp clean feel gave way to more then a decent swelling a grain and hops with hints at cereals and fresh cut grass. A long subtle and dried out finish only served to add on to this one and really make a great overall impression on me. It went down like water and I was suprised at just how drinkable this one was. Overall I would have to say not bad at all and I would definitly order this one again as for a session lager,.

A - Pale yellow with a light head that hangs around with average retention.
S - Light, slightly waxy lemon. Hint of tarragon.
T - White bread, lemon, touch of coriander. Rolling bitterness.
M - Crisp dry finish with a nice hop character.

Every time I figure I'll give Rogue another try they remind me that all of their beers have the same lingering after taste.
Pours a nice pale pislner-gold color, crystal clear, with a huge mound of head that retains nicely throughout the drink.
Smells of citrus and pines and thick with bready notes.
The taste is okay, very much a pilsner. So far as pilsners go it's not a bad one, but I wan't expecting a pilsner.
Thin and watery mouth feel.
This may be the best thing I've had from Rogue.

A- see through, very light yellow.
S- lagerish haha.
T- maybe its just because of the style of brew that it is, but i felt it was almost watery with a hint of citrus afterwards, almost like a wheat beer.
M- very light
D- goes down very easy and kinda grows on ya as you drink it.
OVerall i wasnt very impressed with the brew, it was too tame (like i said almost watery). but that may just be a personal bias becaouse i either like high hop IPAs or i like dark ass chocalate stouts n vanilla porters.

Pours yellow, hazy. Large head that stays for quite some time.
Smells a bit stale, yeasty, breadlike.
Tastes like a mix of wheat, stale, bread, yeast, malty, and a touch of lemon.
Creamy and less than moderate carbonation. Drinkable, average. Does not really stand out as being exceptional in any area.

Good pristine golden color with some seriously fluffy head. Couldn't pick much up in the nose here, a little sweetness, but everything else was pretty nondescript.
Very light taste, was disappointed, thought from the appearance that we would have a light bodied, full flavored beer. Just got the light body, the minimalist floral hops were just too underwhelming. Didn't have the crispness an excellent beer in this style would have, there was some bitterness, but it just didn't pair well with anything. $6 for an easy drinker is a little much, negates the drinkability +.

In the glass it looks like James Taylor's 'Copperline' with a light, pretty head with good retention and nice lacing. A really pretty beer to look at. On the nose it's apples and sourdough bread, an odd combination for sure, but nice. On the tongue the apples come through right away with a nice bitter note at the front of the mouth lingering well after the swallow. In the mouth it's a bit too thin and it's a bit buzzsawish with the carbonation hitting pretty hard. But beyond that it's a very nice beer one could drink a few of. I wasn't expecting to like this very much but it's quite good.

Appearance: Golden with a slight orange tint. Decent, frothy, off white head with some lacing
Smell: Sweet with some earthy, grassy scents. Apple is identifiable.
Taste : Fairly "irish" taste, though not full-blown by any means. Mildly earthy with a medium sweetness. Fruity in the apple sense. Apple flavor is in the moderate to back end and accompanied by some bitterness.
Mouthful: Pretty smooth and a bit chewy.

A- Huge white head that looks like light whipped cream, golden cloudy yellow with little bubbles floating to the top, & a thick white lace that hugs the glass.
S- It has a very similar sent that most pilsners have, light hops, perhaps lemon sage, cloves, & granny smith apples.
T- Very smooth, light hoppy flavor with a twist of sweet malts, a pinch of fresh citrus lemon, & a hint of apple.
MF- Light carbonation, slight sour & bitterness that makes the cheeks pucker just a little which reminds me again of granny smith apples, very nice after taste, you can tell this
beer is of the freshes ingredients.
D- Very delicious & satisfying, I could drink this trough out the evening,

I'd had this in a bottle before and liked it, so figured I'd try it on tap at the Rogue in Portland.
It was golden with a thin white ring.
Aroma was ripe grain and apple, pretty much a full-bodied standard pale American lager.
Taste was as for the aroma basicaly, but with a light vaguely defined bitterness popping up at the finish and lingering, mostly grassy with some vague citrusy bite.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Light and crisp. Not very complex, but just a mellow and tasty brew. Not really too much to say about this one. It's simple and tasty, at the same time.
Drinkability: Easily drinkable. One level above water (not in a bad way). Had it with some sushi and it was the right match.

(Served in a pokal)
A- This beer has a clear golden yellow body with a matrix of big bubbles rising to the surface. There is a lumpy snow-white creamy head last for a good bit.
S- The dry green hop bite is mixed with a dry lightly toasted malt note.
T- The dry flinty note gives way to a slightly spicy graham malt note and a soft toasted malt note finishes the beer.
M- The light mouthfeel has a slightly full finish from the carbonation and no alcohol heat.
D- This beer is very dry with some good freshness to the malt flavors and some nice depth of malt. Very easy to drink.

650ml bomber poured into pint glass july7 2010
A clear golden yellow with a heavy amount of tiny bubbles feeding a two finger bone white head that has average retention and leaves a few patches of lace
S sweet grains with a little candy corn
T all I smell but with a tiny bit of apple and another fruity aspect that I can't quite place
M full for the color with decent length
D no flaws but nothing amazing, I could drink this again but beside other Rogue bottles for the same price it would not be my first choice
decent beer but like I said above it's a hard sell beside all the other Rogue bombers on the shelf

I know it's a Lager, but jeeze. Bomber, poured a LIGHT yellow, fluffy white head, dissipated quickly. Not much aroma at all. First sip seemed watered down, Carbonated, but....wait, a little malt sweetness. Warmed up a couple of degrees, and the flavor was tolerable. The sweetness "Almost" makes it taste like a Light, or watered down Belgian Golden Ale? Just kept shaking my head as I sipped. Wanted more I guess, but it is a Lager. I can think of some lagers with much better flavor than this. This is my "Rogue's" least favorite.

I got this because I had never had this beer but I had low expectations because I don't really like Irish Lagers. This really surprised me. It had a really great up front flavor. Good bitterness, great mouthfeel, light pale color than I expected. Overall very good. Not great aroma but I'll have it again.

22 oz. bottle:
Hazed golden-orange lager with a decent cap that lasts and laces.
Aromas of sweet doughy malts, hints of straw a light mustiness. Nice subtle pleasing aroma.
Great malt spine...chewy bready malts in the front with herbal-grassy hop offset, light lemony effect in the clean finish.
A top flight lager...but the price sucks.

Reviewed 4/4/10:
The Kells Irish Style Lager was a beautiful golden color. Upon pouring into the glass it presented a very strong floral aroma but the taste was surprisingly lacking in flavor. The lager had a smooth, light feel. It's a refreshing lager and wouldn't mind drinking this again but maybe needs some tweaking to get flavor just right.

A: Golden in color with some cloudiness. A nice head with decent retention.
S: A faint grassy aroma with a hint of apple. Also a slight metallic smell.
T: Pretty smooth upfront, but not a real noticeable taste. Has a brief apple taste on the back end .
M: Light and crisp
D: Easy to drink and sessionable, but not memorable. Average at best, probably something I would not buy again based on its price.

Poured from 22oz bottle into 20oz Guinness tulip pint glass.
Appearance: Clear golden color with a very large white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a pretty thick lace.
Smell: Grassy aromas prevail with some hints of grain. Also has a strong herbal aroma.
Taste: Begins with a slight herbal favor, finishing with a stronger grassy flavor that also has some apple sweetness about it.
Mouthfeel: Lighter body with balanced carbonation and a very clean finish.
Drinkability: A solid beer, but nothing outstanding. I'd have it again if it were available, but I wouldn't pick this as my first choice. It is a pretty pleasant drink, though.
