This beer will catch you off guard. First off I suggest you don't smell this beer because it may stray you away at first...but don't let that fool you. Smell is a really sweet, but not that great of smell. The up front taste right when it hits your lips and tounge is really sweet and hoppy...AGAIN don't let that fool you..the after taste is crazy good. Very Mocha/coffee like. Lots of Chocolate too. This beer is pricey, but I recommend you give it a try if you are into dark beers.

A-dark brown black color with a decent tan head and some lacing
S-malty, coffee, hint of chocolate
T-dark roasted malt, coffee, minimal chocolate, some awkward bitterness
F-medium body with light to moderate carbonation, smooth and creamy
O-nothing special, flavor just seems a little off and unbalanced

Bought at Total Wine in Claymont DE a few weeks ago.
Continuing with my Rogue journey, surprisingly I haven't had the regular Mocha Porter but went straight for the Double.
Poured into a tulip from a bomber, gave a relatively strong/fast pour to release the scent and test the headiness.
Gave me a 3 finger head of brownish cream.
The mocha malt scent, as many reviewers have said, is so strong but it's not unpleasant or overpowering.
I would argue that it's right where it needs to be. If it were less, I'd almost be disappointed in expectations of a double porter.
The taste is very malty and the mocha is there, I can taste a lingering alcohol but it isn't overly so. Some nuttiness and coffee like drinking a non-cream cafe mocha with no sugar, but it is most definitely a porter beer.
It's a smooth drink, enjoyable and worthy of the Rogue name in my opinion.
Slightly lighter mouthfeel that I would think, but it's still quite good.

serving: poured into glass
Color: very dark, frothy mocha colored head, does not stick
Smell: very faint mocha/malt, not much smell. disappointing as I expected much more mocha. Not sure where people are getting the overload of smell from.
Taste: Light consistency for a dark beer, malt like in taste, not very strong mocha/chocolate taste. Leaves a nice mocha after taste. Slight bitterness not too much.Very easy to drink.
Solid beer but not worthy of a high rating IMO. Good entry level dark beer for someone who does not drink them but would like much more smell and taste.
