Pours a fairly hazy medium gold color with a dense, creamy half inch ivory head that lingers as a pool of foam.
Aroma is fairly malty, with bready caramel malt, fairly sweet, forming the backbone and piney, citrusy hops adding complexity.
Flavor is far more hoppy, with bitterness pervading throughout. Grapefruit and resin surface early, with pine and spruce rounding out the fairly bitter, peppery finish. Fresh cut grass surfaces as it warms.
Body is moderate and slightly creamy, with moderate carbonation, slight alcohol warmth, and significant hop astringency.
Overall, a very bitter brew, with much more hop flavor than detectable in the aroma. Then again, I have a cold, so aromas may elude me. Too much skew toward bitter for my liking.

Had this on tap at the Rogue pub. Very well balanced and easy drinking. Don't let the ibu count scare you, they did a great job of making this for anyone who likes a pale ale.

Poured on tap a light amber under a half-inch thick white head which leaves semi-rings of lace. Aroma is lightly floral, herbal, and hoppy. Flavor is balanced with malt and piney notes. Finishes with an herbal spice. Semi-moderate body.

the rogue farms project is such a cool series of beers, with stuff we dont see too often in the beer world. i mean, some of them have been downright bizarre. this one is less inspired than some of the others honestly, and as much as i love wet hop beer, this one doesnt necessarily display those qualities as well as i would like it to. the homegrown thing is awesome, and i have to give points for that, but this recipe needs more hops. i get a balanced american pale here, not a wet hop ipa. that sticky fresh sappy hop thing is too subtle, its only in the finish, and the grain seems to be showcased as much as the hops when i just want it to get out of the way. maybe part of it is i am not familiar with the hops used in this recipe, they are rogues own i think, and they are either real mild or way under dosed. that said, the beer is clean drinking, autumnal in its own way, and pretty dark tasty. i just wish for more of the wet hop character, maybe next year.
