On a whim I stopped into a small boutique grocery store near Rittenhouse Square. (19th and Spruce, I think it's called Food and Friends) I was on a trek with my 6 month old son, in an effort to get out of the house after 2 feet of snow was dumped on the city. I was really looking for prune juice for my constipated son, but thought I'd check out the beer selection also. I got a 6 pack variety (3 for me... 3 wheat beers for the Mrs.) The American Amber Ale was one of my three.
I've had Rogue's before, namely the Dead Guy Ale (from Monks 16th and Pine?)
The color was good - a dark amber.
My first impression was a good bitter flavor with a decent mouth feel.
I liked the malty and slightly bitter taste. It's a good session beer. I'd recommend this to hop-heads and novices.

Amber woody color with a nice thick off-white head with good retention.
Relatively light aroma (for a Rogue) but with a nice smell of citrus, pine and flowers and sweet bready malt.
Flavor is bolder, nice bitterness balanced by a semi-sweet citric taste. Spicy and strong orange notes.
Dry, bitter and citric aftertaste.
Light to medium body with good carbonation.
I could drink this all day. Very balanced and not extreme (which is good for a change) and still not dull.

A: The beer is relatively clear light amber in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense off white head that died down, consistently leaving a thin head covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose along with hints of citrusy and floral hops.
T: The taste is similar to the smell except that notes of orange citrus are more prominent and there are hints of grassy hops. It has a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather easy to drink because it isn't as malty compared to some of the other beers in the style.
