650ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a dark ruby/brown body with a very thin tan head and moderate lacing. Smell is yeast, hops, buttermilk pancakes, and pecans. A hazelnut aroma develops after a few sips. Taste is roasted nuts, crystal and chocolate malts, English-style hops, and brown sugar. Very clean and sweet aftertaste. Mouthfeel is crisp, refreshing, and mildly grainy with a smooth, dry finish. Well executed. This is one of my favourite ales. The complex flavours and smells keep you guessing while you're drinking the beer. Definitely better than the English and Canadian nut browns that I've had. I will be drinking this often over the winter.

A - Dark red/brownish color, with a thin off-white head.

S - Toasted malts and hazelnut dominate the odor.

T - initially, I started drinking this one too fast, and missed out on some of the flavor. Once I slowed down, and started exploring, I was very pleased with what I found. Nutty flavor up front, specifically hazelnut, followed by toasted malts and some grain. A little touch of hop bitterness toward the end helped to balance out the heavy sweetness throughout. Very tasty beer.

M - Moderate mouthfeel, not quite full, and certainly not watery thin, either. Enjoyable beer. The sweetness tends to stick to the mouth a bit, which makes me crave some more.

O - I was looking forward to this beer for a while, being a big fan of brown ales and malty beverages. This was delicious.
