My father and I visited this pub in the afternoon, and there were only a handful of people there. Divided into smaller rooms, which results in a homey feel. Low ceilings and a fire burning; very comfortable and obviously a very old building. The ceiling, in fact, slopes near the door from age. Familial atmosphere, with the couple bickering gently behind the bar. There is a nice cellar for the casks; the bartender noted our interest and offered an impromptu tour and lesson on caring for cask ales. (I had no idea there was so much involved.) This is a Wadsworth pub with some guest ales. I remember 5-7 casks. Nice people. And good food to top it off: my dad had a burger and fries (local beef) and I had an excellent chicken risotto. Very nice place.
