Notes:
A classic English-style Nut Brown Ale. Sweet and malty with the nutty flavor of chocolate malt, this beer is flavorful yet easy to drink.

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate chestnut brown color with a slight off white head. Nose brings a slight nutty character as well as some lightly roasted malt. Taste is light caramel with hints of nut. Slight flavors of toasted bread. Mouthfeel is fairly light, with the body bordering on medium and having a fairly light amount of carbonation. Not a beer I would go out of my way for, but wasn't a bad pint.

As with just about every English brown ale (described by the brewer as a nut brown), this beer is quite reserved and mellow. Nonetheless, it does incorporate a nice chocolate malt note. About average body, and would be a good choice to offer a beer novice to show what Newcastle could be. A good choice as "background beer" for a meal.

Appearance: Served up a bright, clear, amber-brown body topped with an ivory-hued head.
Smell: Credible maltiness with apparent notes of caramel, brown sugar, nuts, toast, as well as darker malty notes of mild-mannered coffee and chocolate. Some faint estery hints, too.
Taste: Goodly malty brew with varied nuts of brown sugar, heavily toasted nuts, lightly caramel, and even some coffee and chocolate. Scantly estery with a low fruitiness. Pinch of herb, lightly bitter. Malty, smooth finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A charming, fittingly malty, English-minded ale.

Pours a clear, dark amber color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight alcohol, and slight hops. Fits the style of an English Brown Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and thick with a low carbonation level. Tastes of hops, sweet malt, slight roasted malt, slight toffee, and slight coffee. Overall, a really good brown in all expects.
