A- Clear amber beer with a fluffy off-white head and nice lacing at the pour, reducing to minimal
S- Sweet, perfumy aroma with a small amount of spice.
T- Sweetness is less than in the aroma with biscuit coming to the fore.
MF- A bit watery for a winter beer; light carbonation
D- Not nearly as full-bodied as I expected; I may have it again, but it will need to be on sale.

pours a darker golden honey color, minimal head. nice uneven lacing down the side.
smells like a dark honey. sweet, caramel-y malts in the aroma and in the taste. minor bitterness longer after the liquid is down but it's actually very balanced. some healthy carbonation rising in the tall Paulaner glass.
trying to check my son's homework but incredibly distracted by this greatly balanced, semi-sweet, delicious brew. i like the even taste and the european accent.

Two fingers of head on a cloudy copper colored body.
The aroma is malty, barnyard, hay and caramel. It borders musty, but it's still nice.
The flavor has a malt sweetness, mild bitterness and a curious spice note at the end.
Smooth texture with low carbonation and heavier body.
An enjoyable beer. The taste is a bit different with the spice, but it's a good addition.

I just found my notes and the good looking label that I had carefully soaked off of this bottle.
Coppery orange color with an off-white, creamy head. Thick sheets of lace stuck to the glass.
Biscuity malt smell, but also alot more hoppiness than I was expecting.
The flavor also had more hop strength compared to the malt. A bit tough to put into words, as I was expecting a malty marzen / winter ale. Slightly buttery, and caramel notes, but more akin to a pale ale.
Mouthfeel is medium, carbonation level gave it a smooth finish.
Pretty average all in all, I guess I was expecting something more and different.

Wow. Big name for a beer. But would it live up to all that? Out of a bomber this beer was a clear orange color with lots of rising carbonation that produced a cap of tan head. The retention was good and it left lacing in sliding bands. The aroma was of dry grains, caramel malt, hints of pepper and fruit. The flavors were pretty dry overall and not spicy like I was expecting. Mostly toffee and caramel first followed by some doughy malt and a bit of green apple. The finish was mildly hoppy and crisp/dry. A curious combination, especially for a winter beer, but not at all unpleasant. It wasn’t much of a stand-out either, just sort of blasé. The mouthfeel was good, the body medium and the carbonation frothy.

Bottle from Binny's in Schaumburg, IL
No obvious bottled on date
Poured into a US pint glass
Weltenburger has produced a solid winter lager with its Winter-Traum, as it is pleasing in all areas. For those who enjoy German styles, this is a must-try as it is delicious, relatively low in alcohol, and affordable for an import at $3 per bottle.
Pours a voluminous head of dense, off-white foam that coalesces at the top of the glass into a meringue-like structure. The head slowly dissipates over a few minutes to a thin cap of bubbles atop the body. The collapsing of the head results in columns of lacing along the sides of the glass that are disturbed, but augmented and re-supplied with each sip. Body is a moderately dark golden brown out of the light, a mid-intensity amber when in it. Transparent bod with slow, visible carbonation.
Smells of rich, dense caramel and deep golden malt syrup alongside spicy and herbal components from the hops. Nearly reminiscent of a doppelbock in aroma. Also a faint hint of cloves, but unsure what this could be from. Enjoyably complex for a lager.
Taste has a whole-grain bread, malt-forward opening that is also joined with herbal hop components. Mid-palate picks up mild hop bitterness and increasing levels of caramel and bready malt components. Mid to back of the palate shines, as I get: a mild spiciness from hops; a certain herbal character; fruit, particularly plum in the back that peaks and then returns to caramel malt flavors. Aftertaste is bready and somewhat biscuit-like.
Beer is medium to medium-light in body, with gentle, but noticeable carbonation that creates a smooth-flowing mouthfeel on the palate.

Pours a clear golden caramel hue with a big fluffy three finger head that stays and leaves nice everywhere, the smell is sweet toffee, caramel, sticky date pudding and a touch of hops, the mouthfeel is medium bodied and slighty creamy and has tastes of caramel pudding, candied figs, sticky toffee and marzipan with a light ever present slight hoppiness that keeps the sweet in check and overall its definately one of the better Marzens out there and would drink again.

,Poured into pint glass. Typical dark reddish clear body, but with a very nice frothy head that lasts. Not too much on the nose, just a maltiness and a faint vegetable characteristic, like cooked stringed beans. A little more on the palate, good malt presense, sort of earthy flavors. Wet, crisp, refreshing and drinkable. Can't call it complex, but definitely not undrinkable

Pours a bright orange with impressive clarity and a big sticky white foam head. Some dark fruits on the nose with underlying notes of dark fruits.
Medium body yet its a bit watery on the finish. Some dark fruity taste up front. Some toasted biscuit. No detectable hop presence really. Grapey like taste which is odd due to the light color. Definitely a strange oktoberfest at a strange time of year.
Some good butter toast like notes in this as well.
Okay beer. Nothing spectacular. Definitely doesn't remind me of winter.

Bottle purchased at Maruhn in Darmstadt, Hessen (Germany)
Pours a clear dark copper-gold with a full, foamy head.
Aromas of toasted malts, bread, lager yeasts, rotton fruit, and copper.
The taste was a little surprising with a slight smoky flavor (reminiscent of cigarette butts), hints of raspberry, and mild rust. The full fruity and roasted malt finish is quite nice.
Overall the beer has a unique character and the flavors have clear definition. It is balanced nicely, and the smokiness, though unexpected, is subtle enough to be pleasant. Unfortunately, I enjoyed it less as it sat; certainly not a session beer. All the same, I would recommend giving it a try.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into lager glass. Deep amber color, minimal head, which dissipated quickly (Note: glass was just rinsed out and wet from previous beer). Typical spiciness for a German Christmas beer. Lower alcohol content, but a smooth taste. Not so spicy to dissuade casual drinkers, but a nice tart aftertaste. No lacing on glass. I'd drink this year round if it was available...

Poured from 500mL bottle into a pint glass. Label says this beer is 5.4% ABV, rather than the above-noted 5.2%.
Appearance: light orange hue with a little bit of murky haze. head is two fingers of frothy ivory foam. Not bad.
Smell: rich aroma with a sweet, fresh malt character and just a hint of graininess. I like it quite a lot.
Taste: nicely malty flavor which is a bit drier than the aroma would suggest. Bitterness is low but noticeable at the end. The flavor is quite simple, but it's clean and it appeals to me. Good stuff.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a good level of carbonation. It's a little more to the fizzy side rather than creamy, but it's got a decent enough texture.
Overall: I rather like this beer. I don't always like Oktoberfests, but this one really does work for me.
