Poured from 500mL bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: crystal-clear deep amber-brown hue with two fingers of creamy ivory foam. It looks nice to me.
Smell: fruity and grainy malt aroma. Plums, pears and prunes all make an appearance. Quite nice.
Taste: light and grainy; slightly fruity. Flavor tracks well with the aroma, though with more emphasis on grain than on fruit. Quite nice.
Mouthfeel: rather light body but a nice level of carbonation. A refreshing consistency.
Drinkability: quite drinkable. This has the good quality of being a light yet flavorful session beer.

Poured three fingers of head on a clear, dark amber colored body. Looks great.
The aroma is of grain and hay, like a barn.
The taste has a strong malt profile with some moderate pine bitterness at the end.
The texture is a little sticky with moderate carbonation.
Delicious.

A German classic. This beer is a bit like having Coca Cola Slurpee. tastes of malts with a rich carbonation finish. Germans make their beer from the same ingredients and come out with flavors that tend to be balanced and easy drinking. A good Dunkel
Great!

A: Deep chestnut.
S: Malt and molasses.
T: Round, deep, toffee'ish
M: Smooth
O: Nice example of a good deep spicy and interesting German beer.
The label is marked with 'World Beer Cup - Gold award'. Well I've no idea what that is, but if it is as the name infers, I'm not hugely surprised.

dark brown, transparent, with little foam. suspect another old brew from THE DELI
nice roasty aroma; toffee and sweet.
taste is the same- roasty, toffee, sweet. typical commercial german malts but very standard and acceptable.
overall, another great german brew although they are starting to run together in a similar groove. not the commercial hofbrau malts, but a shade of variance. a great standard.

A: Dark brown with a slight red tinge, little carbonation, semi-opaque with slight cloudiness, huge cappuccino colour head.
S: Dark malts, candy malt, slight molassis, slight toasted wood smoke.
T: The taste follows nose, but was better than I was expecting. Rich and smooth and creamy. Dark toasted malts, slight molassis, no smoke.
M: Low carbonation, medium heavy bready body, but very smooth and creamy.
O: Delicous piece of history that should be tried. Would go well with dark rye or pumpernickel breads with whipped butter, or with light cheeses. Saw it overpriced in China, got this one slightly cheaper in the US. Great German beer

Bottle dated 15.05.2013
Bottle drank on election night.
Poured into a big wine glass at a hostel in Spain.
A big fluffy off white head on a dark amber body. Lots of lace.
Lots of bread and toasted malt.
The taste is kind of like the smell. There is a great dark breadiness and slight toasted character.
Lighter side of medium body that is fairly carbonated. Great.
Probably the best Munich Dark Lager I've ever had. A touch of metallic character is off-putting but otherwise it is a solid brew.

The beer pours deep brown with garnet tint, clear. Head is medium tan, one finger or so, receding after a minute but not completely disappearing. Lacing on the glass.
On the nose, some toast and light sweet notes of chocolate, caramel. Raisins. Nice but not particularly rich.
Flavor and finish are clean. Body is medium with medium-dry finish. Finish does not linger long--some mild bitterness and spicy noble hop arises mid-quaff and quickly subsides. Taste is definitely malt-forward, if a bit subtle. Some bready/toasty notes. Very slight chocolate.
Easy-drinking beer that would probably rise and fall repeatedly without becoming tiresome deep into a social evening filled with talk and laughter.

Picked up a 16oz bottle of this for $3. Not a bad deal.
A - Looks awesome like a dunkel should. Deep amber hue almost black with some clarity at the base of the glass. Head is a nice 1/2 inch sticky tan colored head that makes for a great looking lace ring.
S - Smell is mildly skunky yeast but mostly showcasing dark fruits, coffee beans, and a mild dark chocolate. All great in my book.
T - Very balanced sweet malts making way with mild raisin and prune with a sweet chocolate base. Coffee roast is minimal and hops come mid palate.
M - Medium bodied and chewy with a light ABV.
Overall I had a feeling the Germans can make a kick ass Dunkel and it was well worth the price of admission. Seek out if you can.

The beer poured an amazing translucent dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is of hints of coffee over a sweet malt base. The taste is a rich sweet malt with touches of coffee and chocolate on top of that. The feel is medium and wet. This was a great example of a Dunkel, rich a full bodied taste with some great flavors in it. This is a Dunkel I will come back to.
